  • Choosing the right CE can be hard as a new dentist, and there are a ton of different options.
    Sometimes the best place to start is to ask yourself what topics you are interested and why. Whether you want to do cosmetic dentistry, implants, orthodontics, endodontics or anything else, there are some great options out there.
    In my opinion, another great place to start is a comprehensive course, like the classes offered by Dawson, Spear and others like that. You can learn a ton about doing high quality comprehensive dentistry including cosmetics, full-mouth reconstruction and veneers.
    My favorite dental website is still www.dentaltown.com.
    Thanks again for your support, and as always please like subscribe and share with your colleagues!

    Have you taken any great CE courses? Is there anything you are hoping to take right after dental school?

    Ash at 'All Things Dentistry' here on youtube offers a great endo course without the upsell of a lot of other courses.

    I really appreciate the wide breadth of topics you cover in your videos! I am starting dental school this fall and watching your videos gives me a sense of future directions after I graduate. Videos like these will inspire others to learn more about being a dentist is all about. Thank you!

    Holy crow, you jumped in the deep end right off the bat!
    I really enjoyed local study clubs because you can get really good speakers at a better price and it builds comradery with other local dentists.

    Dentaltown CE still free to students. Thanks for the info!

      Nice!!
      Fundamentals of Fixed Prosthodontics from Lane Ochi is probably one of the best short CE courses in the profession.
      Bill Schaeffer's stuff is great for implants.
      Seriously, if these are still free that is incredible.

      You are too kind! For real, taking Functional Occlusion my first year as a practice owner I was probably one of the best decisions I have made in dentistry.

    Would love to chat about endo and how to treat people in pain! Easy to get them out of it until they can see the specialist!

    Hi! I'm a second year dental student in CA. I've been following your videos for a while now and they never disappoint. Just curious, have you considered going back to school to specialize in ortho now that you've discovered your passion for it or do you plan to keep taking CE courses and just branding yourself as an gp who does ortho?

    • @BeyondDentistry
      @BeyondDentistry  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Emily!
      I have thought about ortho a lot, to be honest. I came to the conclusion that even if I could get in somewhere, it would not be worth uprooting my family and taking on more debt. That is the great thing about general dentistry - if you have passion for something (ortho, endo, implants) you can pursue it.
      If I could go back in time, I may have pushed harder and tried for ortho though, so if a specialty is something you are thinking about I would say why not.

    Hello Dr

      Thank you!! I am not aware of any online CE in endo outside of Dentaltown. The dentaltown courses are very good, and there is a wide variety of topics. Honestly, I might start there. Good luck!

    Hi! Im a non US dental student, i also love ortho but im looking for courses or postgrades that also give some scholarships around the US would you recomend any college? Thx

    • @BeyondDentistry

      I took FORCE with Dr. Richard Litt - it is a fantastic ortho course. I know they have an "online" version that is really good. I do not know of any CE courses that have "scholarships", but I could be wrong. The only programs I know that have something like that would be residencies. Good luck!

    What Ortho course did you do?

    • @BeyondDentistry
      @BeyondDentistry  Před 4 lety +3

      I took FORCE with Dr. Richard Litt. It is a great program. Dr. Litt was the director of two different grad ortho residencies before transitioning to private practice and CE, so the info you get is heavy in research. Ortho is definitely a commitment; if you take the class I would also recommend the study clubs, as you will always have questions as your cases progress.

      @@BeyondDentistry I would like to thank you for sharing your experience with us, kudos to you for doing that. I am eagerly waiting for your upcoming video about the process you went through with your Ortho CE training. Ortho is an ambiguous field for most of GPs and I am sure we will learn a lot from your experience
