Things To Know About Visiting the state of Alaska: czcams.com/video/whzAMXETqUU/video.html
Alaska is certainly a great place for people from Arizona to visit during the summer time.
Anchorage is NOT the financial epicenter of Alaska... Anchorage is poor man's Alaska
I wish I could too…
I was born in Anchorage at the old Hospital in 1980. I came here to enjoy the video because I haven't been home since 1995. The memory over-load was welcome. Thanks for this.
My family lived in Anchorage in 1962 when I was 11 and I don't recognize anything, which can be expected. I find this video of Anchorage fascinating 59 years after I lived here.
How was Alaska in the 60s?
so cool
I lived in Alaska in 2008 and a lot has changed downtown especially
Robert Hansen😂
@marcoschance9854 It was a white man's world, my father's WWII generation, the Madmen TV series generation. It has improved significantly when I revisited Alaska last year. It is no longer my father's Alaska, which is a good thing. The Native Alaskans suffered greatly from Tuberculosis back then. I did see the famous Native Alaskan George Attla race in the Fur Rendezvous as a kid in 1962. I am very impressed that Anchorage still has a lot of open space for wildlife. When we lived in the Turnagain area, moose would run through our backyard. I was very pleased that a Native Alaskan woman was elected as Alaska's U.S. Representative. I donated several hundred of my father's, Harold Obert, slides to the University of Alaska-Anchorage library. He took photos of Valdez in 1962, which was destroyed in the 1964 earthquake by a tsunami.
I’m going to Alaska. Beautiful Alaska
Alaska should be protected forever
As someone who was born there and raised there and still live there it’s a very very beautiful place that nature is nice the city is good it’s just a good place to be despite the cold Alaska is one of the best places you could ever go to
Hey brother i want to live and work there, i am from India can you help me to relocate
@@cyberfreak9253stay in Mumbai, Rajesh
@cyberfreak9253 your best path would be to do a masters and applying for jobs
If you experience Alaska outside of Anchorage you will appreciate the amenities that Anchorage has to offer on your way to and from AK.
I was in Anchorage last week. Much warmer and friendly than I expected. The helicopter tour woed me, especially the mighty mighty glaciers. I had salmon strips that tasted nice and I wish to visit again to expwrience the mid night sun.
I'm a relative of Jay Livengood who founded Livengood mines in Livengood Alaska. No Livengoods have any holdings in the mine anymore, but it's still a cool thing for us to go to Livengood Alaska, like a pilgrimage. Hoping to make a trip there. It's a tiney town, but I'd still like to go, just to se where the great grandad was.
I live in fairbanks an been to lyevin-good a bunch of times .old cabins an new people mostly from Texas. What is the proper pronunciation of your last name ?
After this craziness in NY-I would love to live in peaceful and relaxing Alaska. Looks so beautiful 😻
Do you think Alaska will stay free? Might need to escape from Canada.
bruhh Anchorage is part of the top 20 most dangerous cities in the united states
@@momogotgame5048 I’m assuming nyc is more dangerous lmfao
@@momogotgame5048 not in terms of crime
Lol peaceful. LMAO
I was there with my dad in the late 80's Downtown has grown some more but still recognizable
Drive to Denali National Park from Anchorage , the scenery is amazing.
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!

Was in Anchorage end of May 2021! Great place to visit!
I was there in 2076, Chinese are everywhere
I moved to Anchorage last October from Louisiana. Big difference but I love it.
What do you think of all the daylight?. Wait till winter
@@irmameticgoruk8919 I was here for last winter. I survived! Lol All the daylight at late hours is really mind boggling and experiencing earthquakes.
Good I'm glad .

Hard to find a job there?
Visiting for the state fair ( 8/20-27, 2022)
Staying in Anchorage, I am so excited!!!
I'm living in Anchorage some other places to eat are Jackie's Place for breakfast, Tommy's Burger Stop for well burgers and Moose's Tooth for local beer and pizza and tour the breweries there's Midnight Sun and King Street and lot more.
I tried Moose Tooth when I was there last month! It was pretty good. I had a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza "Call of the Wild" and "Avalanche" style. I liked the "Avalanche" side a little more but good pizza overall!
@@RonnieR29 Avalanche is definitely the best!
and kobuk for donuts!
@@polly-fayeandrews4822 Heck yes!
What are the winters like? Does it get very dark for a long time?
Our host has a deep, resonant voice; I’ll bet he’s had decades of experience in radio.
Great video. Loved every moment of it.
I’m excited to go to Alaska from Richmond Virginia for my 32nd bday next year. Planning it out now. Airbnb hopefully to hike, sauna, see nature and just get away
I love your coastal rica videos. So funny to run into this video when prepping for a work trip!
Jeff, depression came over me with this city. Maybe it is the cloudy weather. You do give a great tour though!
Yeah, if many days are cloudy in a row for me, it start to feel "sad" outside
Except for winter if theirs lights out
Beautiful! Alaska is on my dream sheet.
Same here....Alaska is on my dream sheet......
@@emailtojanjua1 I've wanted to see Alaska my whole life. It is like a mythical land here in Indiana that barely anyone has seen lol

This is a great video. Thank you so much 😊
I visited Anchorage to get a float plane endorsement on my pilots licence, at Lake Hood, alongside the airport.. Had a blast and was impressed by the "Can do" attitude of the locals. Yes I do intend to go back.
I just joined the Air Force on November 2022 and last night found out I'm getting stationed in Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK. My wife and I are looking forward to experience the beauty of Alaska.
I went last weekend just for the hell of it..... Alaska Crepery was great. $2.00 ride the city bud all over. I actually really liked it even in the winter, folks were super nice

Anchorage looks awesome !
Happy 4th of july jeff love the food u eating, look nice other there hope u stay nice hotel
I live in Anchorage but there were still some things you showed that I want to see too! It's usually much warmer in July than it has been this year so far, usually it's in the 70's. We've lived here for 12 years and wouldn't live in any other state!
is it every warm enough to wear crop tops and short shorts?
@@dickersonr6172 Yes it is, in the summertime. It's absolutely beautiful and warm.
Fax it was like in the 80-90s 2021 summer 🥵
@@bear1271 Wait when did it get that hot in Anchorage? Because all I remember this summer was a ton days in the 60's and 70's only a few days in the 80's. Now summer of 2018 yeah that sucked, and was way too hot for here.
@@Thornbeard I probably over exaggerated but summer is not cold in alaska
I've lived here (well Eagle River so a 20 minute drive) all my life, just coming by to see where i should take my friends when they come visit
Very nice, clean and cold city. A beautiful region in the USA. I have wish or dream to go for travel there.

We are doing fine, no protocols to speak of.
Mount McKinley was renamed Denali in August of 2015.
Denali was the original name though. McKinley decided to make a quick stop an rename our greatest mountain in North America.
@@TheOfficialStaxx
Make the world England. 😏😏😏
@@TheOfficialStaxx That's incorrect on both counts. 1) President McKinley never visited Alaska. 2) He had no ties to Alaska, Denali, or its americanized branding of "Mt. McKinley". How it got the "Mt. McKinley" name is a crazy story of its own; completely done out of political, greedy, spite by a goldminer who had no ties to McKinley who had just been become the Republican Presidential nominee. After he was assassinated in office, the name became official to commemorate his memory. Again, crazy story, but other than being murdered - President McKinley had nothing to do with naming the mountain he never saw in the state he never visited.
There is still so much more to Anchroage not just downtown
like what 😹 everything else is just houses
I wouldn't call anchorage a massive metropolis 😂 it's a beautiful city but it felt very isolated when I was there in July 😞
Barely ne people on the roads or out
Huh thats weird if you go out on a hot day theres usually a-lot of ppl
@@Ruby-ph4kc if your from Seattle anchorages standards for alot of people is not alot of people you know. It's sort of weird how the seattle area has over 2million people.
No people around or on the roads? I call that heaven. 🤣
It can depend where you come from. I visited New Orleans and then moved to Los Angeles and the bustling downtown of my hometown of like 400,000 looks empty to me now. But back then it seemed full of ppl. I think it depends what you're used to.
My hometown isn't Anchorage but it's about the same size. I want to go to Alaska, but the closest I've been is Washington and Montana
My hometown
Massive metropolis would be 1,000,000
Big city would be 400,000-1,000,000
Medium city would be 150,000 to 400,000
Small city would be 150,000 below
A metro can be any size
Anchorage's metropolitan area is a rather small metropolis
Anchorage itself is only as big as a medium size city.
I recommend girdwood, talkeetna, Seward, and Whittier if you wanna stay close to anchorage and see some cool little spots
I agree!
Just gotta say, love the hat.
I watch videos on Anchorage because I miss my home town. Grew up there.
can you be my tour guide when i arrive there, plan to fly there in two weeks
I will visit here soon, God help me.
hepi ino to you !
My prom was at the Anchorage museum...
Anchorage seems to be comparable to another Amarillo, Santa Cruz, Modesto, San Jose, and other independent, standalone American cities of under 500K population.
Anchorage has the exact opposite issue to that of Phoenix, Arizona. Both have something of a, "Come stay for a while and see if you like it." attraction. People emigrate to Phoenix, Arizona and leave after a year or so, chased out by the unrelenting, blazing heat. People emigrate to Anchorage and leave after a year or so, chased out by the unrelenting, Arctic cold and snow.
Enjoyed the video Jeff. How long will you be in Alaska?

Alaska and California were invaluable to the United States for their gold mining production. Gold from California helped the Union finance the Civil War. The federal government was quick to push California quickly into statehood with only just above a population of 60,000. Alaskan gold helped finance America's participation in WW1 and WW2.
