    This is a simply brilliant set of sensible steps that anyone half way competent can have a go at and save your system. Many thanks for adding this and I have found my issue. Expansion vessel swapped out and all running perfect again!

    Interesting that it says check every 12 months. I fitted a new Zilio Industries sanitary water vessel and the instructions for that said check every 6 months. I didn't know you were supposed to remove the vessel completely to check the air pressure. I would have thought it OK to turn off the feed to the water heater, turn on a hot tap and take the reading.

    Very good, however, why replacement of the whole unit? Just fix/repair the broken part:
    Leaking schrader valve, just remove and screw in a new needle valve and repressurize.
    Water from schrader valve, remove and replace the rubber bulb (when replaceable).

    What would cause the hot water to run fast for a few moments after heating, until a creaking noise occurs and it runs normally again, when the expansion vessel has been tested and is fine? The cylinder is indirect unvented and every possible valve that could have an air pocket has been checked.

      The bar relates to total head. The vessel size relates to size of install/rad and pipework.

    Boiler charge of 1.5bar is misleading. Most are 1 bar. 1bar equals 10.2m head. Any boiler expansion vessel should never be more than 1.5bar. On the water side, you can't go too big only too small with the vessel. If in doubt, go larger

Is there anyway to improve the seal on the valve stem insert? 1. Does a standard bicycle valve work in the valve stem? 2. Does a standard valve stem tool work for these pressure vessels? Thank you

    is an expansion tank required for water heaters that are fed from a water supply with 2bar pressure? is the supply pressure even relevant?
    Ive had two under sink water heaters fail. Both plumbers did not install an expansion tank, saying it wasnt needed.

    • @davetomlin2603
      @davetomlin2603 Před 2 lety +1

      Bit late now but for anyone reading with same issue. Bar is irrelevant, the unvented part relates to the expansion vessel need. But under sink water heaters only need a vessel if over 30litres in capacity. If under then no vessel needed.
      Most larger heaters have internal expansion vessels so an external isn't needed.
      If indeed the Manufacturers instructions say it doesn't have an internal vessel and over 30 litres... A small 2 litre vessel is installed, normally with a check valve on pipework to force expansion to it.
