Growing up in Phoenix, I went here a lot. Took field trips including an overnight there. Good times.
A trick : watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.

My grandparent's lived in Arizona and Ive known the zoo for decades, and you are spot on about the lions. It's probably a 20+yr old enclosure and some older enclosures need more space.
I'm happy that you love the natural enclosures for local animals.
While you can get very close to most animals, the zoo like making sure it's the animal's decision.
So, since Coyotes are skittish, staff manage the plants to make sure that they can hide and dig little pits to cool down in. It's why some animals have two areas or large enclosures elongating away.
The other little walk in place, across from the lizards, in the Arizona Trail houses bats and other nocturnal creatures.
There's also a nursery for when the zoo animals have babies.
I'm 30 and love watching these zoo videos. I would totally be going to the zoo on the regular, but since I am single with no kids, I feel I would be looked at weirdly rofl.
Honestly that’s prolly the best age to do it and get a season pass. I don’t think I’ve ever looked at someone at a zoo wondering like who they were with or anything. Phoenix zoo is great… other zoos I’ve seen on CZcams I’ve been dissapointed in. All the big cats had ample room. The monkeys had room (other zoos have very miserable cages I would imagine I would see in the 1200’s) but this zoo here is pretty nice.

We had a Great Time @ Phoenix Zoo. Animals were active, happy and awake. Plenty of space , good margaritas too. Definitely will be back .

Wow ! That zoo would be unbearable to visit in JULY & August i bet.

They open at 6 a.m. for members and at 7 am for non-members. You can go from 6am to 11am.

Zoo’s are animal cruelty. It’s ashamed that we accept what animal goes through by getting trapped in confined spaces. They deserve freedom. The Lion sleep because they’re meant to hunt. Let them free. No disrespect to the video editor.
