- Kishore Kumar sang only once for Dilip Kumar in Bollywood history. The only time Kishore Kumar sang for Dilip Kumar happened in 1974 with the release of the movie Sagina starring Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. Prior to this, Dilip Kumar had traditionally used the voices of Rafi, Mukesh and Talat Mehmood but never did he opt for Kishore Kumar's voice in any movie. In this video we talk about Dilip Kumar's herculean effort in doing the Bengali version of this film called Sagina Mahato released in 1970. Dilip Kumar was always passionate about Bengali language and Bengali literature since he was coached in movie making at Bombay Talkies by two prominent Bengalis namely Ashok Kumar & Shashadhar Mukherjee.

The Tragedy King who accidentally came into the industry then he won his spurs as a film actor and made headlines .Whatever he did, he did with his heart and soul and Impressed people and made them crazy about their acting.And took this industry to new heights,All credit surely goes to this excellent , humble and a man of few words.
True.....this was the only song where Dilip sahab actually lip synced to Kishor da's singing. But there was one more excellent Kishor song that was picturised on Dilip sahab. It was "Mein Aur Meri Awargi" in the movie Duniya. It plays in the background while Dilip sahab is shown sitting in a prison cell and then the opening credits start rolling.

It becomes too much to praise an actor of any cinema and ignore the director that too a director like Tapan Sinha ... he is no casual director ... all his films were quite serious ones and also had great social contents ... also cinema is a director's medium .. so all these just to emphasize that is not all Yusuf khan aka Dilip Kumar but majorly the Director Tapan Sinha who made him look quite like the charactor of the novel that was by a renowned reporter of serious social, political issues Sri Gour Kishore Ghoshe.

उस जमाने में हिन्दी फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में भी बंगालियों का ही अच्छा खासा वर्चस्व था ,ऐसा मेरा मानना है । दिलीप कुमार की पहली फिल्म भी एक बंगाली अमिय चक्रवर्ती ने निर्देशित की थी। शायद इसी बंगाली सानिध्य के कारण बंगाली में उन्होने इतनी सहजता से अभिनय किया होगा ।

But one fact. .Satyajit Ray opposed making Sagina strongly. He told Tapan Sinha "why are you wasting time to make hindi remake of your own movie. Make another new one. "Tapan Sinha mentioned this incident in his autobiography.

Well truth is also Rafi Saab was THE GREATEST singer and offcourse he's THE VOICE of the GREATEST ACTOR Dilip Saab... Also Kishoreda's voice didn't suit Dilip Saab very much!
