      Acj is in particularly tricky cause ... the examiners wants to see .. what would be your clinical judgment and not your knowledge... you can pic up a class but at the end the reference book is right and your experience counts ....remember it’s not a knowledge exam.. eg a brown spot’s Differential diagnosis can be melanoma , macule or amalgam tattoo in knowledge but when you are shown a picture in judgment exam and there is no amalgam filling ... choosing amalgam tattoo along with melanoma and macule ... just would get you a zero for the question, cause your answer was a wrong clinical judgment...
      And as I said whenever in doubt refer to books and reference articles they are always right.

      That’s a very good question Rabia and it’s ok to be anxious and worried it’s part of the process
      My advise to you is
      When you do your equilancy and read for Afk and acj and practice for your acs ... involve a lot of standard test books that would help you become a better and better dentist
      As 50-70 percent of the time in practice you will be doing fillings and crown cutting , endo access etc which you would practice in clinic after your license
      And anyways to maintain your license you have to do a lot of continuous education programmes soo you keep learning ..
      don’t stress out right now just focus on one day at time.

    Hello Dr my question regarding the equivalency exam for specialists since you're an endodontist why didn't you go directly for the national dental specialty exam to practice as an endodontist? Also as a foreign trained dentist can I apply directly to a specialty program in a university and work as a specialist after graduation or I need to take the NBDE first?

    • @drvishaljain955
      @drvishaljain955  Před 4 lety +3

      Munzir Elsheikh
      Ndeb canada doesn’t count conservative dentistry and Endodontics as a speciality in endodontics as it’s a combined degree in resto and Endo , in canada Endo programmes are just Endo programmes , that’s why Endo / oral surgery are not eligible for speciality but Ortho , Perio , Prostho are.
      I gave the general dentist exams and got my license as a General dentist , I cannot call myself as a specialist in canada as my license is of general dentist.. but I can practise as much Endo as I can or even do Ortho implants or anything in the realm of dental dentistry.
      Speciality licenses are difficult to get because you have to go to the university for a bridge programme which is 6-12 months and seats are limited... while no such limitation going in for a general dentist license.
      You can apply directly with a foreign degree to a specially programmed into the university but due to limited seats and high demands from the local candidates, who have Canadian experience, better reference letters and credentials, the competition is too tough to score a seat in the specialty programmes.

      That’s a very good question,
      I, would say it would be varies more from individual to individual , the more skills you have the better lifestyle you can have .
      As far as the trend goes , with the increasing no of dentist , the dental services are getting cheaper for the patients , soo more patients can afford services and the big pie which was shared by few dentist is now getting divided among more dentist.
      As it seems ,That’s government is not going to control the no of dentist, it’s going to work on demand and supply rule, right now the demand is there and no one knows when will it be saturated.
      Yes definitely dentist might not be making the same as they did in the past but that’s how a capitalist economy works at the end of the day cheaper dental services saves more teeth and helps a lot more patients.
      I think dentist in an average can have a good life style , until unless you are aiming for a Ferrari . Soo I am not sure what good lifestyle means to you

      See , the road after college for the first 5-10 years is always challenging, it depends which way you take your career... you can move on student visa too, by applying to a course but do remember whatever road you take ... it’s uphill and challenging to establish yourself as dentist but once you do, it’s worth it
      As to maintain your license in us or canada you have to do continuous dental education and you get to learn a lot ... soo I don’t see a point , if someone has already made up his or her mind to go abroad , why wait?! And yes once you are Pr the bank in canada give you loan
      But you have to have PR

    • @drvishaljain955
      @drvishaljain955  Před 2 lety

      Their is no visa specifically for equivalence process , it was designed for the people who move to canada on PR and wanted to persuade the same career as a dentist to give them license to practise , that’s my understanding.
      You can give exams on any visa
      Student/visitor or Permanent resident
      But you can’t get into dds program without a valid PR.

      If you have zero experience in dentistry, just prepare for french to improve your score & cross the cut off. But if you have work experience like 2-3yrs, you'll get PR way easily!
      Also, it doesn't matter if you have BDS, MDS, MBBS, MS or even MCh., all these fall under professional degree & it's 2nd from the top. 1st is only for PhD.
