- Greetings from Lüneburg, Germany! Today, we’re going to be visiting a town that rose to prosperity during the Middle Ages thanks to salt, AKA white gold. This is a legacy that is still visible today, namely in the form of dipping streets and leaning buildings, but we’ll get to that part a bit later in the video. In today’s tour, we’ll show you where to get the best panoramic views of Lüneburg, we’ll admire that Gothic red-brick architecture that dominates the town, we’ll walk along the river and spot the old medieval crane, we’ll sample some unique chocolate flavours (including salt - the local favourite), and we’ll finish the day with some hearty dishes in a cozy German pub. The following is our Lüneburg travel guide and in this video, we’re going to be sharing 10 things to do in Lüneburg during your visit.

Lüneburg is where I life and i cannot imagine living somewhere else. The mix of the old town in the center of the city and the modern parts with its parks and places to hang out is all i want.
Grüße gehen raus.♡
Lüneburg is my Hometown and I miss everything, the most my Family and Friends. Thanks for your Video
Almost?

Great Video. It’s so interesting to see Lüneburg from an outside or Tourist view. I grew up in Lüneburg and just seeing this places is really nice. Hope you had a great time here
Hamburger in here I loved my many visits to your town
Having been born here, I can only say thank you, you've made all the right choices :)
Still, there is so much more!
For example, (should you ever revisit Lüneburg again) if you like dining in medieval brick walled cellars, make sure to visit Mälzer Brau-und Tafelhaus, they're just next door to Brauhaus Krone, where you've been and their medieval cellar is just amazing to eat some hearty food in.
Also Sabacca, an outstanding Tapas bar (very cosy and again in an old medieval cellar^^) right at the towns marketsquare, which also has a great Gin collection before finishing the day at the Old Dubliner, our most beautiful pub at the old harbour, sitting atop the river opposite the old wooden crane you mentioned.
Have fun on your next destination in Celle 👍
I would also recommend Nolte too since you can play kegel with your friend
As a guy who is living and studying in Lüneburg...I can say im proud :) Glad you liked it !
Can u plz tell if there are student jobs available in luneberg for English speaking students?
Hi @@gamingforever9514 Did you find any?
@@Youbetterfly. I'm not in Lüneburg. But in Germany there are jobs everywhere for English speakers like warehouse, delivery on bicycle, cleaning, etc
@@gamingforever9514 Thank you
Sam blends in perfectly with the rooftops!
I find it interesting that 90% of tourists (especially Americans) visit southern Germany, specifically Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, because it confirms all the stereotypes associated with the country.
As someone from northern Germany I understand why, it’s really beautiful down there, but I‘m also a little sad, bc we have really beautiful sights and cities in Northern Germany as well (like Lübeck, Bremen and Lüneburg). Besides that many tourists from America with German ancestry probably don’t know that their ancestors most likely came from areas like Schleswig-Holstein, Niedersachsen and other Northern states lol.
i did a student exchange in schleswig-holstein, i definitely favor northern germany now
@@rafangille nice :)
Americans dont always have ulterior motives when traveling lol sometimes they simply want to see something we know that we dont have back home. The cities you named are not well known or show up on travel guides so the average traveler probably doesn't have them on their radar. Most germans who visit America also go to the same 3 cities because those are the ones that are "famous" for something even if they dont have much to offer according to locals.
Also, old traditional architecture is usually fascinating to Americans because most of our "old" architecture is only a few hundred years old.
Shhh, this way it isn’t ruined by tourists and tourist culture
Haha, no way...I am from Germany and I planned my Nova Scotia trip last month after watching your videos, and I obviously visited Lunenburg when I went there. Nice to see you are enjoying Germany as much as we do Canada.
I grew up in Northern Germany, currently living in Bremen, and I love visiting beautiful Lüneburg!
That's just the way it is, some things will never change!
Beautiful video as usual! Nice to see you back guys. 👍🏻
Thanks Roxanne! Glad you enjoyed the video.
This was such a helpful video, thank you so much! And the video description with the list of all the places really helped.
Enjoyed this episode very much, the food, the scenes of beautiful Luneburg, and the hotel...❤️❤️
Fantastic video as always! Thanks for taking us along on your journey. We check everyday for a new video (but also know these videos are tons of work and take a lot of time to put together!) Safe travels!
Loved the look of the town . Sam, that potato pancake dish looked devine!
Oh man! When we were last in Germany in 2018 we had the opportunity to go to Lüneburg but opted to go somewhere else. Here's hoping we are able to get back soon.
What a big mistake!

Amazing, Germany has the most beautiful places, you should visit Konstanz, if you haven't visited yet. I was living there for a few months ❤️
I'm living in Canada at the moment but am originally from Lüneburg. You made me missing this wonderful city I can call my hometown! Great video🥰
I live here and I love it.
Only thing is that the city is getting more and more a touristic place and getting a bit more stressful, unfortunately.
Der Weihnachtsmarkt ist jedes Jahr auch echt ein Highlight
Save Digga
Wow, looking beautiful pal.
Your video is truly irresistible.
Thanks for watching!
Well j kive and grew up here. Great to see that you enjoyed your stay here. And thanks for the advertisement of our cute little town
Very funny to see! Because i live my whole life in Lüneburg and some of the things you show i’ve never seen before. 😂
TFS. Another gorgeous town to check out.
Thank you! It sure is!
Dear Samuel and Audrey: i am from north ern Germany. Thanks for showing my Part of Germany so beautiful. One recommendation on the way to Celle is Uelzen and Eschede a memorial of the biggest German rail accident in History
This video assures me that I made a good decision to subscribe to you, my first travel channel. I collected Amazon exploration videos a year ago, and recently revisited your Amazon tree house video. You two are just so lovable. What a European treasure is Lüneburg.
Luneburg, Luneburg Heath, Celle, down to Hildesheim, up to Lübeck and Schwerin and Wismar at the Baltic would be a perfect round trip. You could plan it by bicycle or e-bike. The area is mainly flat. It gets more hilly towards the Baltic. The ice-age shaped the land there in that way.
Gorgeous area. Always loved towns like this. Reminds me of old Disney movies. Can't believe you tried to eat that burger in one bite 🤣 looks great though.
Haha, that was a monster burger and sooo juicy! 😅
Hola Audrey, Samuel , precioso Luneburg, esas casas y esos edificios tan bonitos me han encantado un abrazo desde Valencia (España).
My stepmother's mother was living there for many decades. I have never been there, but it was the inspiration for my parents to start, own and operate The Luneburg Deli in Granada Hills, California. Very nice Vlog!!
Greetings from Lüneburg. Nice Video.
Thanks Marcel! We loved visiting.
Love the food parts. Yum
The food was a real highlight - especially that savoury pancake at the end! 😋
Lovely video. Very good painterly motifs, shown in quick succession. She is a connoisseur of art, sweets and all kinds of tastes.
Thanks Peter!
So charming. It reminds me of Bruges a little bit. ❤️

Your new videos are so professional 👍👍
You missed Kalkberg in Lüneburg ☺ it's also beautiful especially from the view from the top.
I live in Lüneburg and it's really interesting to see it from your point of view
Beautiful! It reminds me of Gdansk, Poland!
Im a Lüneburger and it´s interesting to see it from your pov
Really enjoyable! What a pretty place...i have been to Germany many times but never even contemplated going to Luneburg🙄 it never court my attention...Now i has and i will def consider going

I hope you can see it soon
All the best channel for you online !
Fun town. "The great thing about pub food is they don't mess around with the portions", love Sam's love for food.
I have been to Germany several times and always love the old towns. I have never been to this particular area but it looks definitely worth a visit. Great video! You are a charming couple.
We really enjoyed this place - it can even be done as a day trip from Hamburg. Loads of medieval towns coming up on the channel!
Love it 🥰🥰🥰🥰
We ❤️ your videos .....🌹🌿
Me está encantando vuestro viaje por Alemania. No conozco Lünenburg y es una preciosa ciudad. Los chocolates de esa tienda deben ser una delicia y el recorrido de hoy me ha encantado. Feliz viaje.
Glad you've liked it here :) Especially going with the 'Matjes Hausfrauen Art' ;)
Lüneburg Wohoo! ✌😎
ah i was looking for Lunenberg Nova Scotia and came here.
Wow a beautiful place, I would love to visit sometime
From a fellow Canadian (Calgary) originally born in Germany, I really enjoyed this wonderful video about Luneburg as well as your videos on Hamburg and Celle. A few years ago we stayed a three days in the very old warehouse that is now renovated and part of the Romantik Hotel beside the waterfall and our tour of the fascinating city hall. We also took the train into Hamburg to tour parts of that city. Now off for 27 days to Portugal. Enjoy your travels.
Thanks Peter! Great to hear about your experiences and hope your trip to Portugal is incredible!
You gave a wonderful tour; thank you! I plan to visit Lüneburg this summer, if COVID cooperates. 😁
We hope you get to visit, Edward! Happy travels!
Der Wasserturm ist absolut der beste Panoramablick auf Lüneburg. You are so right. Aber das wissen nicht einmal alle Lüneburger, der Blick vom Kalkberg ist schön, der Blick vom Wasserturm überwältigend! Es gibt keinen schöneren Blick über Lüneburg!
Greetings from Lüneburg 🙋🏼♀️ Always a pleasure seeing foreign people enjoy my hometown ☺️
Thanks Lena! We had a great visit!
You Guys passed my apartment.
I saw that I should clean my windows again..
Thanks for reminding me!
Ooh yeah, I actually live there. Beautiful City.
Tolles Video über unsere wunderschöne Stadt! Da sind wir bei 4:30 zu sehen!
Looks like a really nice town. Sorry I missed it when I was in Germany. I hope I'll have a chance to visit again one day.
Io vivo proprio a Lüneburg! complimenti per il video
My city 🌃🙌🏽💯
This is the Deutschland that I remember , red roof houses surrounded by forests. The houses were so beautiful. Your vlog captured the style. Thank you for allowing us to come along. LoL.
Harriet and Jim. Richmond, Va.
The roofers are red becors the clay in Lüneburg is longer in the fire becors it means your richer.
Excellent Dears
Thanks so much Pradeep!
17 Jahre lebe ich hier schon ♡
Und ich bin 24 ;D
This country has also interesting places to visit 😍😍 I did not visit too much in Germany but I know it's worth to go there. I like the architecture!
@9:14, the composer Georg Böhm was the organist in the Johanneskirche back in the mid 17th. century and well into the 18th. The baroque organ is one of the most famous in Germany, but includes pipes from centuries before that.
I love how I see the sight shots and know where exactly that is cause I live near Lüneburg
Ah thank yoU!
Very professionally done. I swear your video production skills get better and better all the time. My only question is... Is there a PBS in your future ? In my opinion, it's about time.
We're impressed that the buildings still seem to be structurally sound despite all the sagging and pregnant looking walls!
I grew up 100km south of Lüneburg. Together with Goslar and Celle, Lüneburg is my favourit City in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), the State I call home. Great Video, btw!
