I thought it was fine given the context but it's sad this match gets all the attention and not Leon vs. Natsuki Taiyo from the same show, which was an amazing High Speed belt match. Edit: Also, F that racist hick Cornette. He wrestled a Ninja Turtle and booked a mummy in SMW!

I seen the match it was for a Yakuza crowd probably who was making it for that audience. Its like that thing on here everybody was all about the twerking minors. I would Wrestle my Niece of Nephew or Cousins but not this kinda thing. Just protecting them doing the moves on the couch or so. Japan has a lot of like borderline things that unless you read Booty Royale will never grasp in the least ;).

I didn't really see anything wrong with this. All I personally saw was a heartwarming video of a professional wrestler letting a kid fulfill her dream of competing in the ring and letting her have some fun. To me, it's as simple as that. Am I alone on this?

I agree, Kenny talked about this match in Talk is Jericho. And the way he talked about it didn't sound like he was doing the match for the wrong reasons.
I'm not a big fan of wrestling, but I admire the skill it takes to pull it off, especially something like this where his opponent is tiny in comparison. He made it look like she was taking big hits, and she played her part perfectly. Kudos to both of them, him for fulfilling her dream, and her for performing so well.
He wrestled a blow up doll first, you know it’s not going to be serious after that. Yeah it looked silly and cartoonish to have a 9 year old opponent but he did his job to inspire the next generation. I’m just glad he was faking it and wasn’t actually hurting her. That itself was impressive and took lots of skill. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wrestled a glass vase without cracking it next

I think this is proof of his skill. He didn’t hurt her at all, made it entertaining and so generous to a fan who wanted to be a part of it. I can see how people would frown at that but it’s a gimmick match, it’s supposed to be far fetched and absurd. The culture around it is gross but I find the match to be perfectly innocent and professional. Two wrestlers putting on a show. It would be cool to see Haruka Vs Omega again and have her flatten him but if she’s done, she’s done.
Kenny Omega vs a kid was real. Man, he made sure he did the work without being sued for child abuse and physical injuries to the kid.
That kid lived a dream most of us wished we could have lived as a kid.
The people who are bitching about this match have no understanding of wrestling and how beautiful this match was.
Kenny and the girl both demonstrated incredible amounts of skills (respectively). And put up a great, entertaining show while being safe.
Not only that but Kenny gave a chance to a little girl to live a dream in front of a big crowd, while playing the biggest asshole he could. And the girl was taking and selling hits with everything she had.
The showmanship was absolutely incredibly.
I cannot fathom the abyssal lack of self worth, of sympathy, of understanding needed to be a emasculated by even the idea of that historical match.
What’s funny is that the match actually was pretty good😂 that girl did great and Kenny as well. It’s a testament to how important character work in the ring is, it’s about telling a story and they both did amazing. Saying this match was a disgrace is pointless, because it only shows that the ones who say this are ultimately stuck In the past of what wrestling was, thinking that there can only be one style and that’s pretty hilarious to say considering it just so happens for that type of wrestling to be the “best” in their eyes, similar to people who only love 1 style of music and swear that anything else is garbage (cough cough, many metal fans, cough). Cornette doesn’t surprise me with these takes cause he is a hypocrite and has been proven to be one many times over. He has personal vendettas over people that he can’t stand because they disagree with him, or they don’t do the same things he does, it’s just weird. I don’t understand the massive following he has only for the sake of “well he says it like it is, pal”. It’s not a good enough excuse. There’s many other wrestling pundits / former wrestlers that talk about the business nowadays that come at it from a realistic perspective and don’t BS, but that also provide constructive criticism and understand that wrestling is subjective, I/E, Rene Dupree, Paul London, Stevie Richards

The problem with cornette is that he can't get passed the fact that wrestling has dramatically changed it was a certain type of thing back then but now wrestling has become a type of entertainment that can become anything and has appealed to wider audience. That match was amazing for the fact that it showed his skill to sell, bump, and be super gentle while making it look evil. To call him a pedo is out of line. And if I recall right, didn't Jim Cornette get himself in trouble with an underage girl himself recently?

I went to a Diana show at Korakuen Hall, featuring a multi-person match with some under 14 year olds and a ceremony with some students including someone who looked as young as 6, the crowd taking it all very seriously, nothing surprises me anymore. The likes of Cornette just need to get over themselves, Japan is a different culture.

If you think that Omega's career and all the rumors about his obsession with "Joshi" wrestling is just a harmless little quirk that definitely won't lead to horrifying stuff, I have some bridges to sell you down in Florida. Im the only one out of all of my friends that like wrestling, i showed them the Omega 9 year old girl match and they just make fun of wrestling even more now. Despite it being a worked sport and predetermined, it's simply the fact that wrestlers actually do this type of stuff when they arent seen as stars. Then it makes the main event draws look more foolish because these guys coworkers arent taking the business seriously.
And those arent my words. Thats the casual audience that WWE and AEW covet for their weekly shows. It just is what it is.

Cause both sides are right, because all of us understand it's worked, stuff like this seems fine to us. But then we aren't the demographic that these companies want to keep the lights on. They *need* the casual fans and viewers to generate the majority of their income, so stuff like this just exposes and alienates the casual fan because it's so silly.
These wrestlers do need to keep kayfabe alive to some extent nowadays, otherwise what's the point in even continuing the show. There's no real reason to continue watching if the wrestlers you watch aren't taking it serious because it devalues wrestling as a whole.
I don't like him, but there's a reason Hulk Hogan never agreed to any silly spots or something that would discredit his on screen character even the slightest. There's a reason Brock never does anything to harm his character and even told Moxley, then as Dean Ambrose, that he wasn't going to do his Jon Moxley type of street fight because it's stupid and no one will take it serious.
Frankly, the issue to me with that match is that it’s just simply in REALLY bad taste. The issue is that even the idea of “pretending” to do hurtful and painful moves to a child looks unbelievably awful and gross. It’s not even a sexual thing (though that’s also there too) just a basic “even pretending to beat up children is incredibly gross” thing.
I think but can't be sure that cornette said on his podcast one time. He wished someone got into the ring and took out his knee caps.

I agree with everyone that said he done a good job and the guy does have talent, If wrestling was just move after move and nothing else, he would arguably be the best in the world right now.
But the guy is everything thats wrong with wrestling today, He performs more like hes in a choreographed dance than an actual wrestling match.
I get its 2023 and everyone knows its fake but it doesn't have to look so cooperative. Try those moves in an actual competitive match you would be beaten in seconds, What he does is just one flashy move after another with no story or reason for it. To each his own but that wrestling to me is boring.

Crownette I have no doubt is a fan of the match or things along those lines. Always those who are the most vocal are often guilty of what they project on others. Normal people are not able to understand or see what is really happening in this match. She is doing all these moves to him which are not wrestling based. Strikes or kicks are not part of Pro Wrestling or the simulated Brawling Russo WWF BS. Its really vile Live Action Lollicon stuff. See when its not Manga or Anime it is crossing away from Fantasy into Reality. These are Real People who might look a certain way or not. There those who have Trauma or serious issues where they are drawn to only those who are not quite developed even if they are Thirty or Forty. The Chiby Culture is its own sorta odd thing. Most these people are harmless but are demonized by 1 RL person mostly etc.
