Very proud of Disney for allowing Andi Mack to bring such serious topics to their audience. Unplanned pregnancy, anxiety, homosexuality.. It's very refreshing to see a younger audience be introduced to these things without them being over dramatized.
@Lord Nerdecon I actually really like your opinions on this, even if I dont fully agree. I dont really have anything to argue, other than it just being a hard subject to really handle, because like you said some children will handle it different than others. I just want to thank you for being so respectful when presenting your opinions, so theres that.
@Lord Nerdecon i dont think it will affect kids tho cuz the way they distributed storylines was really slow and not just on the public's face. the unplanned pregnancy storyline was basically treated like an adoption storyline, showing how the kid just gets to meet her new mom and they go through a relationship of parentship. same thing happens in here, the fact that it is an unplanned pregnancy is mainly mentioned on the episode they reacted in this video, but that's basically it. the rest is just the developement of the relationship between Andi and her mom
@Nerdecon lots of children actually have teen parents though? And those kids have never seen themselves represented on screen. As well as those kids classmates who will see their young parents pick them up. We don't live in a world where this stuff doesn't effect kids. Andi mack did a very good job of showing that her mother made a bad choice but Andi is not worth any less because of it. It doesn't normalize teen pregnancy but also doesn't demonize andis mother. Honestly I'd recommend watching it it's handled very well.
I really want to watch this show. I have (I don't know if anyone else has) never seen a character with anxiety and that deals with panic attacks. It gives me reassurance to see a character like that.

When they introduced the character with panic attacks I cried. It was so amazing to see someone like me in a show like this made me feel so much less like it was something I needed to hide
These two are technically still children and they speak like they are adults (but like an upgraded adult). I love the pure acceptance they portray.

such beautiful kids. I'm currently a teen and grew out of disney a while ago, but checking back to see shows like Andy Mack that deal with such heavy and REALISTIC topics makes me so happy. props to the cast and writers, everyone for taking what would be considered a risk to air this show

This show (I had to go back and watch it because I started with the episode right before Cyrus came out to Buffy) is what made me start watching Disney Channel again in my 40s lol I seriously was in tears watching the coming out scene because #1 as a bi 80s kid I didn't have anyone that would've been as accepting as Buffy when I was that age and #2 I never imagined that Disney Channel would actually ever air it

Peyton said it very well, the best thing about the show is that they approach very difficult themes (teenage pregnancy, parenthood, first love, sexual orientation) in a age appropiate way for kids to understand but at the same time they are not letting out any information just because it is for kids, It's just the way they say it. It's a very unique show.
