Yes it's wonderful. I had such a crush on him as a seven year old in the sixties! Since Mike's passing I've spent almost every night on here enjoying the music and interviews. I'm so thankful for all of this.
I was so in love with you when I was a young teenager. I lived in Seattle and I won a contest on KOL AM 1300 radio and the prize was to talk with you on the phone! I was so excited but I would have to miss school. My Mom said no but my Gramma snuck me out and drove me the 30 miles to the radio station. I was so nervous. I don’t even remember what we talked about but I loved you even more. I was so sorry when I heard of your passing at such a young age. I will always love you Davy. 💕
Oh my gosh Donna!! Thank you! Are you kidding.? I have this book autographed by Davy. I met Davy twice. Thank so much for sharing. Great to have it on You tube. I miss him so much.
Thank you Donna for sharing this wonderful book. I was a childhood fan who lost interest after HEAD. And sadly returned just as Mike was slipping away. Since his passing I've watched so many interviews;some where the guys were critical of eachother, told stories about physical fights and just about anything else under the sun. But in the end, you can see that they were like siblings and loved eachother. I regret that I didn't experience all this while they were still here with us.
This is a wonderful sentiment. It may sound very silly, but the idea of them hating each other as is so often insinuated is so distressing! I wonder why Mike never attended Davy's memorial concert, but I suppose there were reasons. I hope they did care for each other. I hope they do still now.
I loved watching the Monkees as a kid and Growing up was always A fan of the Monkees Watched a lot of the Things on the Monkees That they have here on CZcams.
2:45:07 I think there was an unwritten rule among the Monkees to not talk or write about each other in a rude or derogatory manner. I believe Davy did a good job describing Peter, Mike and Micky and believe he made the right decision in not writing a chapter on each of them.
I agree. He fully owns his opinion. It's interesting the difference, the growth, (respect, affection, love) between his first impressions of the others, to seasoned experience with the others. David doesn't shy away from acknowledging his own shortcomings. Pun completely unintended. (Though wouldn't he be first to see it, see its humor.)
A privilege to listen to David's personal and candid biography. Appreciated most of all his Bits & Pieces (including cautionary) conclusion (2:24:41). Having earlier reflected on the other three when he met them, initially worked with them - it's a very nice finish - David reflecting on "the three he knows." Thank you for sharing.
Hi, Donna, thanks for the post. I love the poem Davy’s mom left for them: Love still abides. Are you able to capture it and post it separately? It is such a pretty poem. What is that scratching noise we hear every so often?
He was only 16 as the Artful Dodger. So young. Time really stood still for me. I still think of them only as the Monkees, ages 19-21. Still minutes at 19 at that time. I only think that bc it seems that's what they say in interviews
It is nice to hear Davy Jones read the story Than to hear it comp. Read like the kiss books Stories they were a bit on the boring side.because they were comp. read. They would have been more interesting if they were read by each member of kiss but it was not that way sadly.
2nd generation monkee fan born in 1974 watched reruns in 1979..... one of my all time favorite groups & Davy was my 1st childhood crush ❤
So nice to hear his voice and telling stories I miss him so much

Yes, Davy was a born storyteller.
Thank You for uploading.
Davy Jones was a handsome lad from Manchester and so am I. If you are born in Manchester you are already ahead of the rest! RIP Davy.
This could have been twice as long, I would have still hung on every word. Wonderful.

I'm glad your grandmother did that for you.
Great story you have. And grandma had the hindsight to sneak you out to speak with Davy.

Exact same for me... and then I started to mourn the loss of Davy... when Mike passed... I didn't care for the movie Head... Not my thing at all..
My story exactly also. I very much regret not having kept up through the years. I'm just now mourning his loss.

Thank you very much for posting it. It's beautiful to hear his voice. 😍

Thanks Donna Corbin for posting this audio book. I bought this book at a MONKEES Concert in the late 1980's.

I just ordered this book but that's ok... Nice to hear it on audio too..
I had no idea this existed, thank you for posting this, I'll subscribe to you today!
Thanks
Great interview except for these loud static noises throughout the whole thing. Quite annoying after a while.
Sorry about that

I had never heard of this before. Interesting read or should I say audio.
great
This is cool, I'm going to have to check amazon for this one.
This is very hard to get also

Donna. Is the audiobook the same length as the book itself? Seems like it would be hard to fit 250 pages unto under 3 hours.
Yes it is the whole thing
Did Dave grow in Manchester? He only mentions it many, many times
Why is there interference
On this story?? It makes it annoying.
It was the place i downloaded it from it kinda like a watermark for picture instead this came with a sound
