    As children we grew up crying alongside films like these with our Mother who started the tears first. I only got as far as 2.42 and paused before I took over where my Mother left off some 55 odd years or so later.

      @King Royal I figured he was more like his father and picked up the accent from him, being of aristocratic family. That and the suspension of disbelief. It was 1936 after all.

    Unfortunately it is true they can't make movies like this anymore, we need to preserve these movies for future generations to see. I hope the national archives and the film industry preserve these films always great film.

    Pizza Flix oh boy, I cried through the ENTIRE movie. Each scene was more moving, loving, and innocent with little Ceddie than I could bear. This was just a beautiful movie worthy for all to see and learn from, if only, if only, we can keep our hearts open long enough to learn all that we can from sweet Ceddie and his Dearest.

    If you have never had the chance see Freddy Bartholomew, Spencer Tracy, Lionel Barrymore and Micky Rooney in Captains Courageous. One of the greatest movies of all time. I must warn you though, it's a real tear jerker.

    What a great movie! Thank you. I remember seeing it on television when I was a child, but it takes an adult to appreciate the simple themes of love, kindness, forgiveness, and reconciliation. As long as there is a God, these themes will always be important.

    A Good story and a wonderful telling by some of the world's exceptional story-tellers.
    The garbage we are force fed today is 95% just that ! and does little to entertain, much less educate or reaffirm our faith in each other,
    our basic societal standards or even the real world . . . which is deteriorating around us.

    Absolutely a fantastic film old values which the world 🌎 at present is truly lacking as the new movies out there are completely filled with pure Brutally ,see, and volience, and needs time and time again special effects to keep the movie on track a load of pure rubbish is been made ,but the older movies had one thinking 🤔

    A great movie, I have watched many times. Its too bad some of it has been lost. I first saw this movie in the late 50s on a public station and them again on a commercial station where is was cut so they could get in all of their commercials, butt heads. After that the scenes they cut were gone. Does anyone know of a full version ? It would include a scene where the Earl and Ceddie were out riding togeather and some scenes with the mother sewing to make money.

    A lovely movie; most nostalgic. Unfortunately, this is a very sugar coated version of the upper classes. They were never so gracious, generous, or philanthropic to anyone but themselves.

    the actor who plays the grandfather, c. aubery smith, was the inspiration for the cartoon character "commander mcbragg" not his personality, but his appearance. you learn something new every day bitches.
