When Ramah wasn’t raised from the dead, I thought the writers were reinforcing for us believers that God doesn’t heal everyone. It is a mystery we don’t understand- why some are healed and others aren’t. God sees the whole picture; we don’t. It is incumbent upon us not to be offended but continue to believe God is good even when He doesn’t answer our prayers the way we want Him to.

Yes, the same way he didn't heal Little James, when he asked. That scene in Season 3 Episode 1. It was heartwrenching to watch Little James, who contended that he wouldn't be as effective as the others due to his malady. It was good of them to be consistent.

Thank you so much for this video! I didn’t have questions about why Jesus didn’t raise Ramah, I had questions on why she was murdered in the first place, and this video has perfectly explained that. Thank you!
Two things I’d like to say:
    1. I’m not affiliated with the show, but from my understanding of the Lord and the Word, it made perfect sense that Jesus didn’t raise Ramah. I would’ve actually been shocked if He did, because it really was not yet time.
Remember that the only person He’d raised at this point was Jairus’ daughter, and only very few people knew about it, and He strictly warned them not to tell anyone, not even the rest of His disciples. They all thought He’d gone to heal a sick girl, they didn’t know she had already died.
This is because if it became known that He could raise the dead, more people would’ve believed He was truly God, and that would’ve caused such a stir among the Pharisees and His ministry would’ve been interrupted.
Remember in John’s gospel, He raised Lazarus when He was wrapping up His earthly ministry. And after He raised him, His fame went off the charts, and that was when the Pharisees actually started plotting to kill Him.
God is God-centered. His will is always priority over anything else. If Ramah was killed in private, it would’ve been different. But she was killed publicly. Jesus definitely hated to see Ramah die, but if He raised her, His ministry would’ve ended prematurely.
    2. I’d like to give more insight to the story of the blind man, and why Jesus healed him the way He did. Back then, it was Jewish custom to spit on the ground when walking past a blind beggar. So, Jesus spitting on the ground, forming clay with the soil, and healing the man with it was His way of making a message out of His mess. He used what was used to mock him to heal him.

Did you know that this story of the blind man being healed brought a whole tribe of people to salvation. They understood in their culture when he did that, that he was truly their savior. I think it's cool that you know about the original context of what Jesus did, but also, I think as the scripture says that his ways are higher than our ways, and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts, that Jesus probably did things with many things in mind. Also, it is exciting that God can use things we may never see as important ourselves to change the lives of others through it. God Bless!

God told me a long time ago that "healing is in the spirit, not in the flesh. "
Little did I know that would come to fruition for me 20 years in the future.
In 2017 I was diagnosed with a rare cancer. The huge 3 pound GIST tumor had invaded my stomach walls and was killing me.
It was causing internal bleeding and I nearly died several times.
I prayed in earnest for God to heal me. To take the cancer from me.
I quickly knew in my spirit that he would not.
After my long surgery to remove the tumor, 2/3's of my stomach, my gallbladder, and rerouting of my intestines....I was much better..... but I have struggles with digestion and nutrition.
It is okay. I am here. Jesus got me through all of it.
He used his people to help me. I can't tell you everything he did for me in those moments, but he was right there.
He healed my spirit through my cancer journey.
He did not heal my flesh and when Jesus was talking to Little James....I wept.
It was the final thing I needed to hear about the matter.

Jesus came into this world to bring the good news, He was the physical year of Jubilee. I have read the scriptures for over 50 years, I read the Bible every single day. I prayed to get pregnant as we’d struggled for 10 years. My baby sister was pregnant. (In 2014) she was five months pregnant I found out that I was pregnant soon afterwards and prayed to keep the baby. But at 7 weeks I miscarried and chose to carry my dead baby for several months. I didn’t want the surgery or the medication. No medical intervention. I prayed the LORD would bring my baby back to me…and let my baby’s soul return to me. But he didn’t. He had even given me a dream before I got pregnant that “my time had come” but he did also show me a dark time. That’s why when I saw the positive pregnancy test I prayed to keep my baby. And for a while I thought he would . But he sent 3 people in my life to tell me I would never hold my baby. And he told me before I miscarried that he would take my child. And I begged him… I pleaded with him. He didn’t allow us to hold our baby. And I struggled for 4 years with this! I had to come to realize that the LORD is good. No matter what! In the good times and the worst of times. And loss is a theme in my life. It’s never easy. But I can’t stop giving him praise. Even when he takes away. I don’t know why he doesn’t always heal. And I have all the faith in the world. But his ways are beyond ours.

Yes, God's ways are beyond ours. However, in my three decades on this earth, I have learned at least two reasonable explanations about why miscarriages happen. These may or may not be helpful right away, but maybe sometime later on, they will be helpful. First, I belive that God takes unborn babies to spare them from having to endure some terrible fate had the children lived, thus also sparing the surviving family members from suffering with them. Second, I believe that God wants allow the babies He takes before birth to grow up in a better, safer environment than what we all have here on this Earth for now. It'll be much easier for those babies to adjust to the ultimate culture shock that we older people will endure for a while when we go to Heaven to live for great while. I also believe that God's family is a lot bigger than we could ever imagine.

    When Christ wont heal.
I had an experience recently where I have been asking and asking and asking for God to heal me. He spoke to me in a deeply profound way that he would not heal me until I had learned what I needed to from my struggle.
I repeat, God was not willing to heal me, could he? Yes he has all power.
Our suffering serves a purpose, if faith isn't our problem something else might be.
In the chosen there have been three instances where Jesus did not step in to heal,
    Little James
    Eden and Simon
    Ramah and Thomas.
I hope you understand the reason God allows suffering even if we ask to have it removed.
Ask and you will receive is a true principle, but the timing of when we are answered depends on when God in his omniscience knows we really need that healing.

    • @abbykittle5058

But, for Little James, it wasn't for him to learn a lesson; Jesus didn't heal him to be a testimony to others that he's kept the faith even though he's going through a disability. Not everyone who has chronic illness or disability is an immature Christian. Sometimes, God doesn't heal for the sake of those around us, that they may see our faith through the trials. I myself have experienced a ton of health issues, and it's made me think I'm an awful Christian, and that's why I'm suffering. But, God doesn't just grow us through pain, He allows it to point others to Him as well.

Quintus was CLEARLY unstable and carrying a double-edged sword-and if protecting Ramah from harm was Thomas’ priority, then he made the worst possible decision. Picking any direction AWAY from Quintus would have been the better and most logical choice, and then Thomas and Ramah could have met up with Jesus and the disciples at another location. Yes!!!! That was the point of this plot!!!! Everyone complaining about scripture needs to understand there are concepts within Christianity that aren’t in the Bible but are big enough that a huge show like the Chosen really should address. You also have a fair amount of Atheists watching that specifically reject God for this reason so this is also meant to reach them. Not everything is about scripture

In the Christian East, the Church Fathers tell us that a man born blind was one born without eye balls. The Lord did not anoint with mud; the Creator of all took dust and his spit to form working eyes. That’s the miracle of the Blind Man. Too bad the idiom in Greek is not understood in English.

    This episode was powerful
    1. Jesus came to do the will of the Father, he even prayed if it be possible for the cup to pass from Him. Even when it wasn’t He submitted Himself to the will of our Father. The very beginning sets the mood for this episode, that while we may not receive answers to our prayers at the moment we may want them, they will be answered. David at the beginning mentions that they will be united with their child, which is majestic to know that we can be united as families once again and see God.

Brandon, breaking down the Greek meaning of words and positions as well as the Hebrew is essential to understanding the scriptures. We read in English, and the way it was Originally written and then translated can lose powerful meaning. You are doing a great service to this. Now as far as the “poetic license “ in the Chosen , I do believe it is a dramatic way of making not only Jesus, but also the disciples real to us in 2024. Real people with real drama in our lives that we turn to God to cure, but not always trust enough so we take matters into our own hands. Sometimes God answers NO because it is NOT in his plan for us and what is in that plan is more important. We only see the little picture, and as Paul wrote to the Corinthians through pain comes growth, be joyful even when it hurts, knowing that Gods plan for you is Great.

I needed your comment. Thank you. THANK YOU! Ramah's death wasn't just the death of a person. It was a metaphor for answered prayer. "It wasn't her time", to be with Thomas or the time for Thomas to be with her. The sundial gift was so very much an analogy - very symbolic and figurative. For God had a much bigger plan for him. The Lord our Father answers ALL prayers. But sometimes the answers to those prayers are different than the answers we want. God knows best. We need to trust in Him more. Even though it may include some very painful situations.

God’s plans are so wonderful! I’m in Texas but met a Heart doctor yesterday from the City in India that Thomas lived in and based out of when he did his part in Mark 16:15. We never know how having Rama in his life at that point in his ‘walk’ might have affected his decisions, but God did!

Yes, I believe also that this was something that related to Thomas and his ministry as a disciple. Thomas was one who doubted the most and seemed to, at times, put Ramah as more cherished and important as Jesus. I could be totally wrong, but it almost feels like Jesus may have known that Thomas needed to learn and grow in his faith so he would be able to carry out his mission as a disciple. We often only reach out and grasp on to Jesus more during our most difficult times, especially when our plans don't work out, or tragedy strikes, leaving us lost and wondering what our purpose is, and how we can go on. I'm thankful that I can't see what's ahead, and know that if I will just draw close, let go of my own determination, ask for His guidance, and trust Him, that He will get me where I'm supposed to be.

“Jesus” in the episode also looked as if he lost self-control. Unaware of the cost coming with the scene he helped foment that ultimately led to his reservation in hearing one of his devoted disciples. It made “Jesus” look like he was unwilling to reconcile the situation, rather he rationalized his inaction with her eventual resurrection. Yet, “Jesus” did resurrect the little girl and will later resurrect Lazarus. Not sure this scene is consistent with the broader narrative. Plus, this internal Roman discord would probably not have happened. Instead, the crowd would have been controlled at spear point and formation. I say this episode was way outside of biblical and historical norms.

It seemed off to me and I think that is why Thomas moved me on her body but I didn't cry as I did with Mary Magdeline, Matthew, Nicodemus, etc. It seemed contrived and I've seen at 65 way too many of these scenes. Thank you for this explanation it's helped bring the word to life for me. During the Episode I was hearing or thinking they was never a Rama, and when she died ‭
    John 6:39 NLT‬
[39] And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day.
    ‭John 6:39 KJV‬
[39] And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
But in the last moments of Rama it looked like Thomas loved her more than anything and in the previous episode Jesus said you should love me more than anything and anyone. So this looked to me like Thomas journey of shedding his past and anything that could potentially hold him back from giving Jesus his all as we know he went onto preach the gospel in Asia etc. They was a scene where Rama saw a pregnant woman with her husband walking by and itwas like a little revelation to her of how she would have to stop walking with Jesus if she wanted a family.

When I watched it I was angry at first because I couldn't believe Jesus just stood there and allowed her to perish. But after looking in the bible I realized that Ramah was just a character that the producers created to convey something. I saw how the Dominus was removed due to his involvement with her death. He wasn't imprisoned just reduced in rank. That was the only way to really remove him from power. That made me think that all of us that follow Jesus would allow him to use us in anyway that he needs to, to help him and his will. We may not understand it at the time, but we cannot think like God either.

Why is it important for individuals to consider both the negative and positive aspects of life before making decisions?
Well, if we only look at one side of life it's like looking only one way before crossing a two-way street.
Life has two sides just as a two-way street does, ignoring either side is not recommended.
Would you cross a two-way street relying on faith or looking only one way before crossing it?
If we choose to cross a two-way street without looking or looking only one-way before crossing it shows that we are willing to jeopardize not only our own life but others as well.
Making life decisions based on assumptions is considered a gamble. Sometimes we may not have time to question some decisions but most of the time we do. If we refuse to question decisions especially if we have time to do so shows that we are not interested in being the best that we can be and are willing to gamble away our life or another...

The storyline with Raimah made complete sense to me. We are ALL Gods children and He does say NO We are merely human and will never fully understand. That said I expected something like this because 1). The storyline needed to reconcile fact that Thomas is never said to have a girlfriend or wife anywhere in the Bible. 2). The loss of Raimah easily makes us understand how Thomas becomes “doubting Thomas” 3) The unrest this shows leads into other Biblical events such as a Zealot uprising and a storyline with Barabbas.

i don't think quintas killed her on purpose i think he was aiming for thomas knowing he was one of the followers. remember In the Bible, there is no clear indication of whether Thomas was married or single. The only direct reference to his marital status comes from a passage in Matthew 19:27-30 that is often interpreted as Thomas being unmarried. There is no other information available on whether Thomas had a wife or not. However, some sources suggest that Thomas was skeptical about having a wife due to his parents' unhappy marriage, and he grew up with a pessimistic disposition.

So with that being said, I love the show and feel like it has brought me closer to Lord. Just this seem like they got this one wrong.

Thomas and Rama were already married, this entire relationship progression in the show was just a fiction for entertainment. I really hope you’re reading your Bible and not using this show as evidence. You’re a fool if you do.
Edit: I got caught up, Rama is not in the Bible, she's just a portrayal of Thomas "actual" wife. Although I don't know much else.

@@donaldwilliamfry I've seen others say the same. But realistically how is anyone going to know exactly how Jesus was or even what he did or didn't do? Did he ever do anything like this? Probably not but how would we know. I mean look at how God was in the old testament? In the Old Testament people died by just touching the ark of the covenant but this is too mean for God to do? Or look at when he walked on water, he basically called Simon a fool for having little faith. If people had read or read their bible they would be able to separate the two and be like, "they we're already married so this is clearly not true." That's just me though. I know that's not how other people are.

@@467076 Since it is fiction based in fact, comparing what they did in "The Chosen" to how the Bible portrayed Jesus is fair game. The Bible never even hinted at Jesus being not in control, and in fact, showed the exact opposite. That is a major break with a presentation the authors have numerous times have said is consistent with the intent of scripture.

I agree with you whole heatedly! I'm so glad I didn't see this in the theater, I would have been so very disappointed. It's the reaction that was assumed Jesus would have, and it was not in character. Also it doesn't make sense that Thomas would have put himself in danger to go search for his beloved Rhema only to walk her right by the sword of Crazed Quintus!! Where are the Rogue elements of creative carte blanche taking this series, and what is the agenda??! Episode 2 was so great and now this!?

Thank you for the great content! I have a question I hope you can answer.
Between Seasons 3 and 4, I've studied a good bit on Jewish traditions including some of the Talmud. So I now am shocked to hear Rabbi Akiva, one of the big names of the Talmud but nowhere in the Bible, mentioned so much in Season 4. I'm sure he was there all along but I just now noticed. So my question is, do we know anything about the role Rabbi Akiva played in the historical indictment of Jesus? Was he a member of the Sanhedrin? Were any Pharisees on the Sanhedrin at this time?
Oops, I guess that was more than one question. Any insight is appreciated!

Jesus describes love not as choosing favorites, but as something that is nourished within so that we can fully love others.
Going back all the way to the Books of Moses, the relationship between God and His children have always been a work in progress. Such as a garden or a temple, our faith to the LORD should continually grow through our days regardless if we get what we “want” or not. God’s will, not ours.

There are many Martyrs who died for the sake of following Jesus! Even today! This episode shows that even being a follower has pain and death, however this death is only in the flesh. Martyrdom, with the exception of John the Baptist, simply is not shown in the Gospels. This is a post-Pentecost theme. This death was out of place as was the demeanor of Jesus. It seemed to show Jesus out of control of the situation and placing his disciples in harm's way while being oblivious to this until after the death of Rehma. The disciples seemed to be herding a shell-shocked Jesus, looking more like Biden handlers than Jesus' disciples.

Maybe Ramah had fulfilled her purpose - bringing Thomas to Jesus and making sure he stayed. God doesn't control us like robots, not even Quintus. Quintus did something by accident (yes, I saw then even he was surprised) by his own nastiness and must pay the price. Ultimately, Ramah is with the Lord. Sad, but another great episode.
