I’ve worked with RV delivery and hotshot drivers for the last decade. The majority claim Ram with Cummins is the absolute best for hauling daily, that it’s not even a comparison.
I will agree with you too, hotshot is dominated by RAM/Cummins
Thanks for the review, we just traded in our 2500hd GMC for a 2500 Laramie. We absolutely believe we made the right decision. The Ram is a far superior vehicle for towing. The only thing I miss about the GMC is the mirrors, they were so much better for our wide body Open Range.
I believe they make GMC style tow mirrors that will go on a Ram truck
It’s hard to beat a RAM Cummins and if you have air suspension, it’s up there in the stability department with Duallies. The mirrors take some getting use to for sure which is why I kept mine up 👍🏾
Great vid as always. I have a Ram 1500 but always watching vids for the Heavy Duty Rams for future reference.
Thanks bro!
This is great! I'm of the opinion you really only need an SRW 1 ton if you fully intend on towing and traveling. A 40 ft rig is great if you're parked most of the time but for traveling purposes a 32-36 ft rig is gonna be less stressful and generally only going to need an SRW truck.
JB - great review! I have 2014 3500 SRW HO / Aisin Transmission truck with only 50K miles. It has been awesome. About 4100 LBS of payload on mine. Purchased it to tow a 17,000lb toy hauler 5th wheel originally - now we use it for a large bumper pull travel trailer. Basically the same truck as the one you are reviewing - all be it at an increase of about $18,000 in sticker price from my '14 to this one. I agree with you on upgrading the tires - I run BFG KO2's which have been a huge improvement in traction. I wish I had the 50 gallon tank! We pull trailers all over Colorado and Utah and absolutely love the truck. Super confident mountain pass towing rig!
That’s awesome, I almost bought a 14 or 15 before I got my 18. I will never buy another 3/4 ton as long as I’m towing 👍🏾
Just got done driving my Mega HO. I drove it mostly on the weekends when we take longer drives during the winter. During the summer it’s mostly for pulling the trailer. It so nice to just motor on down the road. The Cummins just purr’s 😂😂
Oh yea you gotta keep that def from freezing too lol!
My favorite truck in the world 🌎💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
🤘🏾🤘🏾
Totally agree on the Color as I am on the road a lot….this Color is the best👍
Yup, doesn’t show swirl and honestly can’t tell it’s dirty lol
Very similar to my 2020 big horn sport mega 3500 ho, same color even. My payload is 4061. Only differences I see is I have full center console and cargo camera. My sticker was 67k paid 57k in dec 2020. Just got the cp3 recall done a few months ago. I also added a 52gal s&b tank
Good stuff, typically the Mega is always heavier than the CCLB so it’s nice you have similar payload 👍🏾
I made a bad decision when we traded our 36' 5th wheel for a 24' travel trailer with a gvwr of 5,500lbs. I had a awesome 2018 3500 short bed crew cab 6.7 SLT with the Level 2 equipment group. Thought a 2022 Jeep Gladiator max tow would be fun to have and pull the trailer with. Well I eventually came to my senses and found a 21 1500 Big Horn 5.7 non e-torq Crew Cab with the Level 2 equipment group and 3.92 gears. Fortunately it was dealer owned with only 11,300 miles and very clean. I just really miss how the Cummins did everything effortlessly. Definitely don't miss the diesel prices right now though.
Put in an order for a 2023 tradesman with similar specs; still waiting for it to get built
Once it goes down the line and ships, it’s halfway home
Is that a used truck I’m surprised to see it on the lot with the current recalls. I was looking at Ram with Cummins, and all my local dealers pulled them from the lots and said they’re not allowed to sale until the recall is performed, which to my understanding they still don’t have a solution for the transmission spewing fluid out the dipstick
I just priced out a 2023 RAM 3500 regular cab dually 4X4 Bighorn. HO Cummins/6-speed Aisin. Loaded with everything but spray-in-bedliner. Low volume paint; National Safety Yellow. MSRP 88,260.00 dollars. Tom Kelley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Decatur, Indiana. Nice group of people. But I've got to shop it around. I'm not paying MSRP. Wouldn't budge on price.
I agree, factory orders should be discounted especially with them being so heavily inflated
Aside from an exploding fireball transmission problem under load, they ride nice. I rented one for work and drove it 3 months, got my new Ford 6.7 Powerstroke and I promise you Ram has nowhere near the power the Powerstroke does.
Lets go Ram
👍🏾👍🏾
This truck has the minimum equipment I would want except for steps for the wife and a spray in liner which I would add aftermarket. You are right this color is great for long stretches on the road and few washes. 🇺🇸💪
Yup, silver is just so easy and it doesn’t seem to fade as quickly. I’m sure you would at least get night edition 👀🇺🇸💪🏾
@@JB_WhoWork lol you right about the night edition 🔥
Good video 😀 make up your mind you said your gmc was the best 🤔 but there has been problems with that transmission
This truck is available so it’s the best option right now 👍🏾
Just constructive criticism buddy. I watched your videos allot before I bought my ram 2500 cummins, it was totally beneficial. My, opinion is that you should continue striving on those comparisons between manufactures. You ARE the guy to do it. You are an influencer, you helped me decide to spend 95k on a truck. Keep doing what your doing but do it a little differently, understand your an asset to truck sales. They need to give you trucks from all the major brands. It's not too shoot any of them down, it's to explain and break down the differences which you do extremely well.
I’m working on doing more towing videos which in the past has helped me grow my channel a lot faster. Once I surpass 100k subs, getting press cars will be easier and I can start comparing them to what I own which is why I’m trying to get two next year 👍🏾
I think Ram offers a 50 gallon tank which is a must if your towing alot of the time.
💯
42 bucks for the bed assist shock..takes 5 minutes to install
Good point 👍🏾
is this diesel or gas?
Ugh, gosh! Nearly $80,000 for a Big Horn. I know it's a well equipped Big Horn, but holy crap!
I’ve seen them mid $80k 😬
Exactly what I was thinking 😮
Missing running boards. I have the same truck (2016) I’m 6’2” and have a hard enough time with running boards. Can’t imagine not having them.
I have a drw with carli level kit on 35s and have zero issue getting in the truck at 6'2
Yea it works out your glutes lol
@@volkodavwolfcrusherlv7133 Well, enjoy it while you can. I’m over 60 with bad knees, so that probably has something to do with it 😄
Nice review. I think you’re a little too critical of the Big Horn/LT/SLE/XLT trim ranges. Technically they are all a step above their respective work truck trims but as far as what they come standard with and offer as options they are much closer to the top trim levels than the work truck trims.
Anyways, now that you got your Ram fan boy/love fest session out of the way, go enjoy your Sierra Duramax that will slaughter that Ram in every measurable test lol.
Well I hope I wasn’t being critical of the trims you mentioned because you’re right, the only thing these trims don’t have compared to the higher trims is leather, headlights, wheels, and minor comfort features.
Lol, this truck was available for purchase and why I stated it’s the best truck right now because these are kind of hard to find sitting on lots 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork it’s a nice truck. I’m not a fan of silver but I like how it’s optioned. Not crazy about the long bed.
Ram and Chevy do it best on these trims in my opinion with Chevy having a slight edge. As of right now, the only difference between a loaded LT and a loaded LTZ/High Country would be power extend mirrors, memory driver seat, power passenger seat, 360 cameras, heated rear seats and cooled front seats. You can get LED lighting and leather on an LT. GMC offers LED standard on all trims but with the SLE trim you actually can’t get leather or bucket seats. I think Ram offers basically everything except leather for the Big Horn.
Your point of paying a little more for the next trim level does become valid at that point however because a loaded LT is going to be pushing $70k or maybe slightly over.
Im not a huge fan of longbed partially because I will never use it.
Chevys lack of interior design makes the lower trims a better option unless you want the features you mentioned but when they update the interior, they will easily be the Best Buy for the LT level 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork I wouldn’t be opposed to getting a long bed in a new GM or Ford. They actually look pretty good where the trucks have such big cabs.
Surprised you didn't run into Ben hardy while you was down there. 😆😆
Lol, utah has some big cities 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork 👍🏽👍🏽
@JB Reviews he has review at the same ram dealer you were at.
Man right at $80k!?!?
Wait til next year 👀
cloth > leather*
It is better if you don’t wanna deal with the maintenance of leather 👍🏾
NO DULLY HAVE ONE OF THESE TRUCKS GOING UP TO 18000 EASY
Gives it to you in your behind 😏….
Lol, that transmission at times is harsh and you really feel it in the seat 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWorkI guess so lol. I’ve only ever experienced the 5.9 cummins with the old 4 speed in an 07 2500 Dodge Ram. Very smooth shifting even by today’s standards.
Na..
I personally would buy the Ford F450 dually with the wide service front end. I think it's the last truck you would ever need with the 6.7 ps and alumiduty body.
No doubt, I just can’t find one to do a video on it lol 👍🏾
Your comparing apples to oranges. Why wouldn't I than buy a ram 5500 limited and than shi$ on the f 450
@volkodavwolfcrusherlv7133 and buy a aftermarket body? I'm asking. Not being a wise guy.
@volkodavwolfcrusherlv7133 also I believe the 5500 is a de-rated motor so it's going to take you two counties to merge on the expressway.
@@Uncle_Fester24 yes. I would buy a nice chassis bed and the 5500 comes with the h.o. motor
Nice truck. I'm not a big fan of the new dodge. The engine is the only good thing about the truck. I've owned the big 3. My favorite is still the 7.3 diesel. When I finally got rid of that truck. 503k. Until it needed anything besides regular maint. The dodge I had lost 2 rear ends and a tranny before 200k. The chevy lost fuel rails at 135k. As far as durability the old Ford won. As far as comfort the chevy hands down. As far as ease. Dodge. I don't pull enough to own a diesel anymore. So I bought a 2020 2500 4x4 chevy new with the new 6.6 gas. At 13.3k got 12 mpg pulling 300 miles. So not bad. It's a huge truck. I also like the old school interior. Not a big fan of all the tech in trucks. I like to control my vehicles. Not the other way around. Imo its a personal preference. Anyway as long as your happy who gac about anyone else.
Was the Chevy that lost its fuel rails an lb7, by any chance?
Good stuff, a lot of people are jumping out of diesels 👀
😂
Ditch that Ford junk and buy that Rammer 3500! Once the Ford arrives I’ll have to skip all those videos. Sad! 😢
Or it could be great content that you will enjoy 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork nah, would never touch another Ford diesel truck. Had my fill, lost $20k on the 6.7 engine and Ford denied warranty (cp4 failure, always bought fuel at the same Costco) so I’m on a lifetime Ford boycott for the way they treated me. Their customer service is really bad compared to Ram and GM. They also do not provide a loaner vehicle during warranty work, which was often. The engine lurched, surged and they never did figure that out. “Couldn’t duplicate” was always the story. Cummins #1 then Duramax is #2. Ford makes more power but it’s never worth the headaches, especially for a full timer!
@@hahaadventures4838 that does suck…well I’m trying to order a 2024 Chevy or GMC HD too
Dodge sucks 😂
