Hi. The pedal before the 2 DS-2 is a Super Overdrive, not a Super Distortion!
Oh yeah, I always call it that cause I think SD-1 as Distortion 😆
Hi Justin, thanks for the post of the board. The Big Muff appears to be like one of mine from 1981 because of the screen print, the type of knobs, and the lack of an led. Mine has an EH3034 board with 4, 2N5088 transistors. It has a huge low end and is really thick sounding!
Another awesome video! Learning a lot from these thank you!!!
Pronounced my last name close! Great video.
Awesome video! Very exclusive info. ⭐️👍 This honestly inspires me to at least consider to sell the DL4. I started playing around with Boss digital delay years ago and I overall feel like they’re easier to work with.
The marking on the FM4 also make me happy I never got it, since it seems to be usable for pretty much only one sound for JF fans. I know it can be used as a substitute for the lowpass filter effect, but I personally don’t need that anyway. 😀
Great video. John could make his rig a lot smaller by using the line 6 effects that are now updated. They are just digital so would be the same. Also smaller big muff
He plays massive stages so he has the room for a massive board!
@@mrnicholasgray true. But if it was me I would want a cleaner and neater setup. Easier to transport. For the sounds he’s getting he doesn’t actually need that massive rig. I have the silver jubilee. I have a lot of his effects too. I can get the same sounds live and in studio with a Marshall jvm410h or even my bluguitar amp 1 and a quad cortex . And few other pedals. It’s unnecessary but it looks pure rock star i suppose
if he had to carry it he would make it smaller for sure hahah
@@truthfactreality6814 Guitar gear is all about the player and what he finds inspiring and interesting. No one in the audience would hear the difference if he played squires thru helix for example. But that goes with all music.
the yellow boss pedal seems to be a SD1 - super overdrive. On the left top there is a boss DD-500 Delay as well, you didn't seem to mention, right? I am not a huge fan, but I see we have similar taste when it comes to pedals :-) Nice vid, thank you!
The signal path would be really interesting to know.
Thanks for sharing this info! Great video
I’m surprised John hasn’t moved into using some strymon or eventide effects
The new one is a nyc big muff it the one you can go out and buy today. The old one he used is the op amp big muff. So it’s kind of different sounding different with op amps but really you just need that fat huge sounding sustain.
Very interesting to see the Phase 90 on there when he has the Moog. Wonder what he's using it for
The Moog is a 12 stage phaser and the Phase 90 is a 4 stage phaser. The MXR is way more subtle and sounds completely different than the Moog. He uses the MXR for Parallel Universe and the Moog for Throw Away Your Television.
Lets hope they never bring back TAYT again. One of their worst songs with Great apes.
@@nojeshei Let's not hope that because those songs rock!
@@nojeshei what have you been smoking? TAYT and Great Apes are fantastic songs.
@@paulyC Omg, grow up.
That yellow/orange device on an angle with xlr in/out looks like the radial sgi-44
Absolutely correct. That is common in professional rigs for big stage to be able to send an unbalanced guitar signal long distances on big stages by turning it in to a balanced signal for up to 100m and then back in to unbalanced at the other end. His guitar tech would have a jx44 rack mount system which can be programmed in a number of different input and output combinations to run certain amps at certain times from his tech world. Josh's rig was more complex and used midi switching still with the radial jx44 as seen in his rig rundown, but John keeps it simple and will never change from tap dancing around his pedals which I love.
sick vid. would love to know that sequencing order!
Do you have signal path yet?
Woooo johhnnnnn 😀
The shirt is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The yellow BOSS pedal is thr Super Overdrive and not the Super Distortion.
Am I crazy or did you not mention the last boss delay pedal? 😬
You forgot the DD-500! Great video otherwise
Ah crap, that’s what editing late at night gets me 🤦🏻♂️
Love how there are a billion new boutique pedals and he just rocks boss and mxr. I need to downgrade my board. Great video.
Boss are awesome products. Boutique stuff is just shed built and overhyped usually so someone can make money
@@truthfactreality6814 my wallet wishes we had this conversation a few years ago
dude has a 700€ chorus pedal and 2 moogs so don't feel that bad
@@afxtwinreverb the chorus wasn’t always that price lol. Past fx do an exact clone of it. I have it. It’s amazing
Is the FM4 being used for Throw Away? or is it for a new sound on UL?
It’s probably just for throw away. He did some jams back in ‘06-‘07 with a couple of fm4 sounds here and there during live performances. Search CZcams “chili peppers final jam”. There’s a spot during the jam that he uses every preset on the fm4.
So… in theory, if I can dial these tones into a sequence chain on my helix floor, I can achieve his tone? And if I want I get closer, I can unhook it from the studio monitors and run it straight into my silver jubilee… that’s gotta get me close right? Anyone tried it??
yes that's how tone works
I dont think so my dude, remember how he got to roll the volume on the guitar and how he dial in the eq on his amp. It would never be the same, but it might be closer.
@@afxtwinreverb I just
It’s not as big as the board from Stadium Arcadium
probably because of all the issues he had with it lol
Definitely needs simplifying. More can go wrong live
@@truthfactreality6814 true simple is better
@@truthfactreality6814 i mean all pedalboards have that factor, theres not much that can be done at the end of the day, but this setup will certaintly be a lot less temprimental than his SA setup
This is insane. Too many pedals. He needs to go digital,or get loops
It was way bigger during the Stadium Arcadium era XD
Too many pedals.. Theres no reason for a board to have that much on it.
If there wasn’t a reason it wouldn’t be there lol
