- Take a look at what leaves I have in my Permaculture garden that are surprisingly edible! You may have a lot of these plants or trees already growing in your edible garden and have no idea that they are actually edible! Learning what parts of plants are edible is something I'm incredibly passionate about. Radish leaves, chilli plant leaves, onion leaves, carrot leaves, garlic greens, beetroot leaves, bean leaves
Young pumpkin leaves finely chopped n stir fried with butter, pepper n salt are to die for!!
Did you know that every part of the sunflower plant is edible? Sunflowers are edible from root to stem to leaf to petals tobthe whole flower to the whole seed. You can fry up the buds or flowers and stir fry them in olive oil with salt or bacon grease, and the Buds taste as good as artichokes. Not quite, but a similar flavor! Some people wait until the flower has bloomed or started to produce young immature seeds, then they stir fry. I have not waiting for my buds to flower.
I knew some of these edible leaves, but thank you for the others I did not know.
I am a big fun of pumpkin leaves/shoots, they are so tender and nice in soup. And a bit sweet
. I like carrot tops made into a pesto with sunflower seeds and nutritional yeast. Lots of ideas for edible leaves. Good to know when produce limited. Never tried pumpkin or squash leaves

One other edible leaf from a vegetable that's not usually grown for leaves is chili pepper. Traditionally in the Philippines it's used in chicken stew.
… I think I will take the extra leaves that I don’t want to eat right away and dehydrate and powder them to add to soups or smoothies … of course there’s always the chickens and compost bin …

Great vid. The mulberry leaves surprised me! I live in the states and have a huge tree and a couple bushes in my yard.

Yes. You can eat mulberry leaves raw or cooked. They help you have better sleep.
You can cook unripe paw2 as a curry and put tofu as well its So good, i eat that a lot when i was growing up in Indonesia

Greetings. Would you mind sharing whether you always dry passion fruit leaves before using for tea, or do you routinely use fresh leaves as well.
We eat raw young ginger 🫚 shoots w the leaves and bitter melon leaves and Asian pumpkin aka squash leaves. They taste great when sautéed.
I’ve heard ginger shoots are delicious! I need to get another patch going 🌱

Yes, all pumpkin leaves and flowers are edible. The new shoot can be lightly boil, or stir fry with garlic or with meat. The not so old leaves and it stem need to peel the outside strings like bean, wash well, chop and stir fry. You can also eat the tiny pumpkin with the flowers still attach, cut in half lengh wise and steam or stir fry.

The edible canna is more bigger than arrowroot. The leaves have simmilar shape. You can also get the starch of edible canna roots to make noodle.

But what does it taste like? There are many things you can eat, that doesn't mean it's pleasant.
I’m not suggesting people eat bowls of straight pumpkin leaves but it can be useful to know what parts of the plants you grow are edible. That way when you are making a stirfry or a soup you have plenty of options available 🌱
