Anyone want to see Steam OS running on Micro PC? I think we could see some amazing performance out of the mini pc
I do!
yes please
Try Nobara they have a new deck variant" with gaming mode for ryzen handhelds
Yesssssir 🔥🔥🔥
Emudeck please
Theyre getting smaller and more powerful. Soon well we be able to access and play full pc games right from our pockets.
We... Already can. There are several handheld pc's currently. They are necessarily larger, due to needing screens and an interface. But they certainly exist.
Ayaneo Air1s is the most pocketable imo
mini fit ur pocket, i really love it, the best handheld i have ever own
We already can. Heck people are already playing Gta 5 and other pc games on their android phone now with the Mobox emulator.
Imagine a Pip-boy-like computer you could use that's very capable.
I have just bought one of these I love it. Got myself a portable monitor too as I go away work quite a bit.
Thanks for the videos pal!
This early look is very promising considering the demonstrated gaming performance. Seems inline with other Pheniox (7840u) handhelds. Hopefully they finally fixed the horribly broken power limits that made their previous Minisforum EM680 perform about %35 below other 6800u mini pc in gaming.
i Got my Em680 to 47W stable but you have to have the know how in tweaking the bios PWR settings.
It also helps to have an App called "Universal x86 Tuning Utility" it allows you to utilize More Power allocation etc.
hope that helps
@@AresHeartbreaKid seems that the only way to get proper gaming performance on your mini pc is to use a special bios and a 100w power adapter.
The EM680 is designed to only run at 15w, this is what MinisForum told me even though it's advertised as a 30w PC. The "special bios" that is available was released to shit up people complaining that their EM680 won't go past 15w.
I have a feeling that the EM780 is also a 15w PC.
Notice in the Cyberpunk demo, CPU Package Power is 35w and so is the total TDP, he doesn't show the GPU side and is not running this PC with "out of the box" settings.
He lied about the EM680 so he's probably lying about this EM780 too
At least his reviewer unit appears legit. The benchmark scores are all within error margin of other 7840U devices hes reviewed (Aokzoe A2 for example) but I guess if this becomes another bait and switch you can always return it?
@@AresHeartbreaKidsome more details would be helpful, thanks.
2.17 BIOS? 100W PD supply? 45w or 54w in BIOS settings? what config in tuning utility?
You should put some MW2 benchmark video in these mini PCs for us disturbed people that play CoD during lunch break in the office without our desktop 😂😍🙏🏻
I never thought I'd ever see a PC that'd I'd label as "adorable" until now. :D
love that ETAPRIME always keep us up to date with mini gaming system !! Mini gaming system ftw !!
I love tiny PCs. CPU's with internal GPU's are incredible.
i was waiting for this, Thank you
Dude your videos are stellar. I'm so grateful for your reviews! Thank you, you gained a subscription. :)
Wow, this looks an awesome little machine. Performance is great for something so tiny. I'm out of the loop on pricing so was expecting it to be a lot but I checked and they're going for €720 with the 1TB SSD. That's pretty cheap considering everything you're getting and the form factor.
I want to see the comparison between all Ryzen 7840 laptop, handheld, and mini pc. Which form factor actually bring the best performance, and pros/cons on every form factor
Yes, please
A laptop would be better among all of those. Comes with the necessary components to use a computer in one device: monitor, touchpad and keyboard, hence it's more bang for the buck. The problem with a handheld is that the screen is too small.
At the end of the day, it still depends on the use case but a laptop is an all-in-one device and can do more than what a mini pc and a handheld can do.
I really hope the steam deck 2 offers an XL option with a size similar to the legion go. I need a bigger screen. @ominoussage
Yes, please, this would be good information, especially for those who already have a monitor.
@@ominoussagei have a gaming laptop and never use it in laptop mode and it's always plugged in to the power so I paid $2000 for nothing i could've bought a mini pc instead for less, and just buy an external gpu for better performance
I bought a ROG ally because of you, I love your content ETA!
Thanks for making me fall in love with portable handheld PCs again!
Thank you for your review man!
Can't wait to see something like RX 6600 level of performance in a system this small.
Morefine has one with the 6600
How is that 1.4L? I'm pretty sure you meant 0.4L
1/4L
@@vierkilau 1/4L = 0.25 L
Neat little PC, I've got that same CPU in my laptop and I'm very happy with it.
hey man, love your videos! Pulling only 6 Watts in idle is plainly amazing for an x86 processor! Would love to see some testing with a Linux distro such as Pop_OS! Could you include a section regarding fan noise as well?
It’s a very nice review but i think if u somehow can add esport games in the testing on every product that would be great.. overall love ur work
They finally made it!
Finally! I don't regret buying the EM680 but... I wish there had been ANY COMMUNICATION AT ALL about when this would come out because I definitely would have just waited... 😒
I love all this small stuff! Also I would like to see a possible video on the RTX 4000 ADA Edition SFF! I’ve only seen one video one it and it needs more attention!!!
Nice review, like always.
It would be nice if you try to load Steam OS and Linux Arch. Those are good SO alternatives to check in this mini PC.
Great review
Love to see an emulation video with this micro pc update would be neat. This got my interest and I’m not a pc guy.
I would really love this
The cost of 4k Video/1080p Medium gaming is going down and down in both money and wattage. I wholeheartedly approve.
Great video! I do love your testing with ChimeraOS but want to see you test emulation gaming with Batocera Linux!!!
I can’t wait to see of these with strix point
Very nice and powerful tiny pc! 😮 It will be nice to see how this igpu and handhelds gpus behave in games by enabling afmf
Damn I need one
That + Fluid Motion frame : 😮
only one word : incredible
would really love seeing you plug this to an eGPU!!
Will get something like this one day
Even my itx build is a behemoth these days
this is what I could use for higher end DIY arcade machines
I was thinking the same thing! It would be perfect for an arcade cabinet with limited space.
crazy little machine
Love your videos. Would it be any good for video and picture editing on
This is very impressive
Would you be able to do an EM680 vs EM780 comparison?
I'm very excited to see Ryzen 8000U this year on mini pcs and handhelds
Minisforum are geniuses, being able to fit 1.4 litres into a 1/4 litre shell.
can you allocate more than 8gb to the gpu? if so, does it make a difference?
I would love to see Nobara OS running on this little dude.
Would love to see this running Pinup Popper with VPX or Future Pinball. This form factor and cooling with a micro sd card slot could be a game changer for VPin builds or Legends Pinball OTG applications.
impressive, really. Please can you do some reotrgaming testing with it?Especially with higher level emulators. Thank you 🙂
would love to see this machine paired up with oculink egpu setup!!!
Same 65w PSU as the troubled throttling cpu and gpu while under load em680 which Minisforum put a bios change into newly delivered machines that stated if users wish to fully utilize the potential of the 6800u they could not use the provided 65w PSU but had to buy a 100W one themselves.
Nice addition of the Rj45 breakout box though.
that restriction was lifted though, I (and many others on reddit) can confirm the new bios now works with the 65W supply, with moderate performance increases.
@@lazypops3117does this apply to em780? or is this em680 specific?
Que bonito. Es lo mejor de lo Mejor!! PEQUEÑO pero Matón
Almost perfect mini pc. I can only say that it would be better with an oculink port.
Problem is the price...its the price of a Z1 extreme ROG Ally which is basically the same as this when plugged in
Pity you don't bench 3Dmark on all of the miniPCs, it is a nice comparison that drops (I hope at least) leaves gimmicks at the door (XeSS, DLSS, FSR). Anyway, just compared 3Dmark scores for various miniPCs you tested, this little one thanks to the 6400 LPDDR5 memory comes very close to the big boys (7840HS and 7940HS) while using only 50% or less of their power consumption. I'd love to compare this to the new intel 155H, but you left out 3Dmark on that one ...
This is great.
I have a newbie question...when testing different pc hardware do most people install every game and benchmark utility individually for every computer? Is there a disk image created and used or an external drive? Looking to test a bunch of old desktops and was wondering how the pro's did it! Thanks!
Supports Steam Games and external HD game system?
The power of the sun!
Basically the ROG Ally in a different form factor with more RAM, even though the Ally can boost higher.
I'd like to see these tiny pcs with an eGPU
The Pixio monitor listed in the description, would it power the minisforum? If not, what monitor is recommended?
When you get your OneXGPU are you planning on watercooling it?
Really nice! Have you tested Ubuntu on it already? Thanks!
Yes, to seeing Steam and some CS, HL, etc
Wish they make this with usbc for power and diplay. Would be fantastic with single cable.
It has PD with usb-c as far as I can tell
Id does and is shown in the video
4:17 it does confirmed
Just imagine one of these things powered by Zen 5 in a year from now. That would put a lot bigger thicker machines that are currently on the market to shame. Not that this one doesn't.
...waiting for the Strix Halo mini PCs 😁😁😁
I'm a novice. What do you do about a GPU for graphics or gaming?
APUs are getting so much capable these days. I wonder when we are going to see affordable, efficient, Lightweight laptops that can do almost everything with these APUs
This looks exactly what I'm looking for. I want to game portabley on some xreal ar glasses, especially for Balder's Gate 3. Was looking at an rog allay, but I assume this would give me better performance? Being able to charge off a power bank by usbc will be a must. Does it have variable refresh rate? Anyone know a better option than this for my plans?
Quick question if you could only choose one based on weight and performance which one would you choose mini PC wise
I would like to see emulation limits. Can it do PS3 & Xbox 360 to 5x? Can it play Switch games? What are the limits for console play?
I would love to see Chimaera OS running on this 😊
9:22 while the settings are 1080p med, it's pretty obvious there's some resolution scaling going on. It looks more like 640p or at the very least 720p. The pixels are giant.
is he deceiving us?
What software do you use to monitor PC performance?
Would love to see if the USB4 ports properly support a eGPU, could be a good use case for this.
I would like to see if the NPU in the 7840u is capable of AI work loads. Can you test it with Linux mint 21.3 and run stable diffusion and LM studio with a 13B LLM like Mixtral 8x7B or Llama 2 13B. 32GB should be about enough to run these models. If not a 7B model would be ok.
I have the 680 running Manjaro Linux. Thinking of getting the 780.
A lot inside a small package and that energy consumption is very good indeed.
Would love to See some blender usage on These 7840u's. With and without egpu
Awesome little unit, but damn do they sell out fast. They need to crank em out a little faster.
I would play games on 720P with high settings 😁
I love the form factor, the idea of recreating the GameCube days when my buddy would bring his console over is dreamy. But the price is stupid, you can have your pick of portable handhelds or build a much better desktop for the MSRP. When the em680s were on clearance at the end of last year for $380 it was tempting but I still couldn't rationalize the purchase.
Hi. This is a great review. Question for you. Hoping you can help out a busy dad that wants to game on his TV every now and then. I'm trying to find the easiest path to play Steam games on my TV. I want something I can mount on the wall behind the TV so wife can't see it. Is this the mini PC you'd recommend?
can you address on your next vlog the power supply failure issue of previous minisforum?
I can't wait to what emulation runs on it.
Awesome
Also Morefine has the S500+ with the exact same chip but only 16 GB of RAM for only $389.
Steam os would be great all you would need is a bluetooth controller to operate it. Also with emulation station installed
how about emulation with arch linux distro? more interested in the high end systems, PS2, GC, Wii/U and maybe some PS3
Is there a mini PC you can recommend to play AAA games under $200/$250?
My dream PC ♥
Can you do a video about AMD Fluid Motion Frames with mini PCs & handhelds using the 780m? Would be interesting to see how / if it enhances the gaming experience
How about noise levels? In order to consider it for everyday work, it would need to be really quiet with light to average load (browser with 6-8 tabs, remote desktop to work machine, webex or zoom running, email client and some office documents opened).
Its great if the form factor is important .. but at 780 € you can just get a normal PC with something like gtx 4060 right ..
I never had a PC,i want a small one but powerfull
need someone to DIY this into handheld
You can almost put this on a keychain..lol. Have you gotton a hold of the BD790i and did a build yet?
looks like 35W capped gpu power during gaming. Is this after tweaking with tuning utility?
Can you compare this with the EM680?
if we limit the tdp to 15w does it perform like a rog ally at 15w ?
Are these benchmarks with or without fluid motion frames eneabled
This is very impressive, finally getting mini PC's with 6400mt ram, hope 7500mt+ ram isn't far of.
Finally the 7840U has gotten to about as close to 'peak' as it's ever going to get.
