I don't normally ask for video ideas but I had a idea maybe you could do a Japanese ghost/ yokai theme character design you don't have to do this I just wanted to share my idea and your art is really cool!
Okay that makes so much sense and I love the idea of like, a bunch of Arabians and Andalusians and Thoroughbreds as the deeply entrenched and powerful fashion houses, and then a quarterhorse or mustang as the scrappy newcomer with slightly western inspired streetwear
I’d love the idea that if in the lore, the princesses ancestors were once allies with the humans, and summoned the Kajuis to help them, but when humanity started destroying the ocean and decided they were too good to listen to the merfolk, the mermaids turned against them.
I have this idea! Go find some weird antique objects and draw the spirits or mythical creatures that would live in it! Like some kind of sprit or fairy! I’ve always loved antiques cause it feels like they have seen things and if they could talk… oh the stories they would tell! 😊
Idea suggestion: Do the same "thing" in different medium/techniques. One thing I love about your channel is the "Jack of all trades" aspect, because I love having many passions and hobbies as well and it's fun how skills from one area can transfer to another. So, for example you could start by designing and illustrating one little guy, then you go and sculpt the little guy, and then maybe like a wild card like embroidery, jewelry making or new things you've never tried. Cookie decoration version of the little guy? 3D modeling of the little guy? Infinite possibilities!
One thing that always has me wondering about centaur type characters is organ placement. Do they have duplicate organs? If not, what goes in the human torso and what goes in the animal torso? In the case of ms. mantis shrimp, I get the sense that the shrimp body is mostly taken up by an extra large digestive system. She just has those vibes, y'know? Plus she probably needs extra food to keep up the strength required to support a shell that big, so she gets extra room to put away and process it. Anyway, creepy anatomy speculation aside, I love the video!
The only time I've heard this addressed is in Narnia. In the silver chair it is explicitly said that the centaurs have two breakfasts bc they have 2 stomachs and each one wants different types of food
if you know dungeonmeshi, there’s a similar type of character and the author described it as the human body being the holder for a long esophagus, so basically the torso is a second throat in a way. all the organs in the bigger body or the horse part. i’ve adapted it to my general anatomy idea of human and other creature amalgamations cause i think its cool
Art ideas: - Centaur characters? - Draw your dream workspace, can be whimsical/illogical but it’s based on your current workspace layout/floor plan - a Lofi Girl animation but it’s you with your room/things/cat - same thing but Howls bedroom from howls moving castle - portals/doorways to other worlds - art or murals to hang on your wall? - design fantasy furniture? - ✨weapons✨ - family crests for your character sets or characters from shows/media - characters from shows as Knights? - spider verse Knights/pirates? - potions and bottles for more abstracts concepts (forgetfulness, golden hour light, etc) - recipe cards for spells? - makeup designs - stalls at a magical market - room designs or buildings/environments for already created character sets Ok I’ll stop. Don’t even know if you’ll see this but hope it helps :)
For some video ideas I think it would be fun for some more sculptures. Maybe some animals using mushrooms as boats or pool floaties or like fruit themed. Also, a concept idea I think you might like is to sculpt some dragons in tea cups/ teapots. I enjoyed the characters you made in this vid they were really cool!
Even though I watch your character design videos RELIGIOUSLY, once I saw that Blue Dragon design on the thumbnail the click was IMMEDIATE, and I think Rainbow Mantis shrimp and leafy sea dragons are SO COOL so this whole video’s got me PUMPED 💙
You could make full illustrations based on concepts like War, Isolation, Love, etc. where the characters are secondary to the mood and you could try out different poses, expressions, backgrounds and lighting based on the prompt.
You made it! It's still May where I live! Very excited to see what gorgeous characters you have drawn and maybe made lore for this time~ Edit: mantis shrimp!!!! My favorite murderpunch crustacean!!!
I love freaky little guys, so sea slugs and deep sea animals are my favs. Sea slugs have such a huge range of colour and looks; my fav is probably the one that looks like a bunny. As for deep sea, angler fish are an old classic, but even weirder imo are telescope fish! Edit: whoops! Got so excited i forgot to mention how much i love these designs! Theyre great, as always
Future art videos idea: I'd love to see you revisit old characters and draw a themed space that they would live in. Really lean into that maximalism and draw some cute cluttered bedrooms and living spaces for your characters that are filled with lots of things! (It would also kind of double as background practice... kind of.) Also, my partner and I love watching your videos! Thank you!
Whenever the fish themed videos come out I like to see if I can connect them together. In the “sea creatures as pirates” video I came up with the idea of a collage age girl stowing away on the ship and decided she wanted to help them break their curse. In the first “fish as mermaids” video I said that the merfolk were following the pirates for a while and got really concerned with the well being of the stowaway. In this installment, I imagine that the pirates have a deep seated rivalry with these mean girl-princess-sirens, (Maybe from rescuing past victims or just classic piracy, or some combo of the two) and they end up captured and at their mercy until the stowaway offers to take their place. The pirates are obviously like “OH MY GOD! NOOO!” But the siren princesses are like “mmmm, you do look tasty.” So a fight breaks out, stowaway gets away by the skin of her teeth with help from the pirates and goes to get help from the good merfolk.
The place I work actually has a peacock mantis shrimp as one of the "shop pets"! He made himself a castle out of shells and it's cool seeing him come out to punch things when it's feeding time.
Designs (especially the thumbnails) remind me of a more elaborate versions of the characters in the webtoon Castle Swimmer. (Like how the characters could lool like if they weren't created for a weekly comic update) :3
THESE ARE PERFECTION!!! AGAIN!! Please, never do "normal" mermaids, but pleaseeee continue doing them!! These designs are insane. I love the design, I love the thought process and I love the final artwork. Absolutely FANTASTIC!
Gonna be real, this UnVale thing actually sounds awesome, but unfortunately I've never been ~creative~ in that way. I'm a pretty decent artist, but I struggle to come up with my own characters and worlds. I deeply admire people who can do that, though (obviously, that's why I'm here!), so I might check it out just to lurk and support other artists. Also, I LOVE blue glaucus! They look SO fake, it's just stunning that they're a real animal. Nature is amazing!! Funnily enough, you actually have the colors the right way around! Glaucus actually float upside-down; their blue belly faces up and their silver back faces down. So this mermaid having the blue stripe on her front is perfect!
So, what I'm seeing here is that the platform is designed for selling/trading characters. So, for example, someone like me who has character concepts for days but poor spatial reasoning might post a page with sketches, photos and notes. If you wanted to draw my character you could purchase the page. I might then see your drawing and be inspired to create more (like say, the character's family members), so I might purchase your page and so on. Since all the posts would clearly lead back to that original sketch page, there would be no question about who has permission for what.
my favourite thing about the peacock mantis shrimp is that not only are they obviously not related to peacocks or praying mantis, but they are also not shrimp at all. The art is amazing as always btw!!
I do like the makeup/tattoos of the first mermaid. It gives me a trad/stereotypical Yakuza meets teacup vibe and I love it. A bad ass heavily tattooed underwater queen definitely fits the mean girl vibes.
I'm really loving the teacup/porcelain vibes of the recent videos. I think some horns to go with the porcelain armour that's mounted to a wire wrapped circlet would be a good extension. Plus they could be used for a tiefling Bridgerton look. Would also work with the porcelain armour in both forms.
What incredible choices for Mermay! I have seen uncommon aquatic creature options before, but I think these take the cake for creativity in that spectrum go! Very fun to see some very original designs of dangerous sea ladies!
The ornament on a first mermaid reminds me of Gzhel! It is a traditional way of pottery painting. I don't know, took you some inspiration from it intentionally or not, but it was very nice to see it here))))
Love the delta P reference! Octonauts’ depiction of leafy sea dragons has always been really cool to me so I loved the character design you’ve made. They all look amazing and I hope you defeat your art block soon!
ya those mantis shrimps punches are basically as strong as a bullet on land/air! I love those creatures! you picked 3 of my fav sea creatures for these illustrations! XD
Maybe for a future challenge you could go through your previous character designs pick a few and design vehicles/mounts specifically for them kinda like how they would do in 80s cartoons
Oh this is one of my favorites you've done! I adore the creepy evil direction you went with the lore, but they are still so beautiful and elaborate. The first one is my favorite, but all of them were fantastic. I love how you did them more like fish centaurs. As for ideas on art videos, I really loved when you showed off your sketchbook this year. A like handcam video of doodling ideas in your sketchbook would be neat. Also maybe instead of characters do backgrounds inspired by things. Like take a character and design what kind of room or habitat they would have. You could use OC's that were popular in past character design videos or maybe even popular characters from media.
I'm a part of a Greek Mythology D&D campaign my sister dungeon masters called "Odyssey of the Dragonlords" & my Tempest Demigod/Fathomless Storm Genasi Sorlock, Aegeus, has his own dragon who was named & modeled after the Glaucus.
The mantis shrimp's eyes actually gave an idea last year when I was worldbuilding for a TTRPG with a few friends and I created a plane of existence where the sentient criature where giant crabs and one of their characteristic was being able to differentiate figures and shapes that the other wouldn't be able to see, because of the greater range of vision
For general art video ideas I'd love to see more designing fantasy nonsense clothes or just fun clothes in general, or drawing the same category of things doing like, one piece each day for a week or 5 days in a row or whatever, like backgrounds or studies or something.
Lore Idea: I feel like the Mantis Shrimp girl would make an Atalanta bargain, where if anyone could defeat her in a fist-fight she would marry them. As a way to lure power hungry people to fight her. A subplot would be, that a member of the protagonist party would have challenged her and, unsurprisingly lost, and is now running from her. Towards the end they would have their final showdown and, while he would again lose, she can't bring herself to kill him because she fell in love somewhere along the way. Rivals to Lovers if you will. :)
Based on your lore for the Blue Glaucus my personal idea is that maybe she started off as a good kind person and that her role was to help keep the ocean clean of things that would harm it/help keep the balance of the ecosystem in check and she was one of a few that did so. But because she would absorb some of the toxicity/negativity of what she cleansed she became more and more corrupted. Also I've said this before but I would love to see your worlds and characters turned into full stories I would 100% read/watch them
absolutely obsessed with the blue glaucus design 🥰🥰 if you're up to it, I'd love to see another video designing/brainstorming garments that might be fun to make!
THis was awesome! I love your mermaid designs. An idea for a video could be you expanding on one of your OC worlds! Even just basic stuff like designing a character bedroom or a popular food from the world would be fun!
You could do sort of a retrospective series where you draw environments for your existing characters! Or perhaps weapon/armor designs for "yourself" and not necessarily affiliated with a character
"Someone please stop me from doing another rainbow colour pallete in a future one of these videos" Instantly just made me think of a bobbit Worm can't lie
Small suggestion artist to artist… you say you struggle with the rainbow color pallet characters. Maybe you should try that color blind method where everything is black and white and you randomly choose form the pallet of rainbow colors. I hope this makes sense 😭 I feel like it would eat down!! ❤
This concept of sea creatures mixed with sci fi speaks to me so much! I love the corralation between deep space and the deep ocean - it is why I have a jelly fish with saturn rings around it tattood on my body he he he. These artworks are great and I love them!!
These are great as usual ! I would love to see a similar concept but with environments ! You ould even come back to characters you already made and expand on their universe, like drawing the ships of your cowboy pirates, or the magical forests that your witches are protecting ect :) Also I wanna see animal sidekicks or non humanoid mythical creatures ^^
The Blue Glaucus and Leafy Sea Dragon siren princesses are very pretty and uniquely designed. And I can definitely picture them both as characters in both Monster High and Helluva Boss. And if they were human, I can imagine the Sea Dragon as a Rainbow High doll and the Blue Glaucus as a Shadow High doll.
7:23 actually, the white part is their back! they float in the water with their bellies upward, like they're "crawling" on the surface tension of the water. so you got the design correct!
In the children’s book series The Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper, the Queen of the Sea is actually located in the deepest, darkest depths of the ocean, deeper than we humans have ever been able to research yet. I really like that, she’s not some kind of typical mermaid kind of character, but more like some sort of deep sea creature. Tbh now I want to draw some deep sea creature inspired merfolk, there’s a deep sea fish with a see-through head that kind of looks like a spacesuit helmet, and that’s really cool. I forget the name, but there’s another deep sea fish that’s this scary looking pitch black eel thing, but it’s got little pink spots on its cheeks like it’s a kawaii anime character blushing.
Leafy Sea Dragon Island is definitely somewhere those brid pirates looking for the golden egg end up. Puffin girl is like this is sus but also I need to know more and the boys and the old lady are like I hear their treasure there!
If you’re interested I’d love to see more traditional projects? Like sketchbook sessions or paintings. Maybe trying new mediums or ones you haven’t used in a while?
I would love to see you try your hand at making a short comic! Your art style is amazing and you already have so many great existing characters. I’m sure there’s a story somewhere in there 😁
Next art video idea??? Buildings inspired by objects would be super intriguing. Maybe something like a giant coffee maker but it’s a grungy, steampunk factory. Or a castle inspired by antique candles and candle sticks. Idk I think that would set my brain on fire
I really joy watching your videos. More ideas for turning things into characters: turning Eldritch Horrors from Cthulhu Mythos into humans, Deep sea fish into villains, and Halloween decorations into frat boys.
Perhaps you could do a drawing study of communicating emotion with one scene, like take some of the characters you have made before and are comfortable with drawing, choose an overall vibe you want the scene to give off, and experiment with different facial expressions and poses. idk
all your art is really cool and the style of digital painting is amazing would you ever consider doing a tutorial on how you do it or a general breakdown on how to digital paint
I genuinely really love the idea of the island monster thing, imagine how cool that would be 💥 Like there’s a group of pirates that come across an island that looks very vaguely like a lizard or smt, then they explore it and find a cave, and the cave has like rock teeth. They keep going deeper and deeper and it just closes💥 That would be fire💥
11:35 the markings on the face kinda remind me of the sugar skulls from the Mexican holiday, Dia de Los Muertos (the day of the dead); it kinda gives her a bit of a “harbinger of death” vibe, and considering her meangirlness, I would say that’s dope
omg your character designs are incredible!! you have such a good imagination and just a lot of creativity. thank you for blessing us with such masterpieces 🥹🙏🏼. as for the content suggestions, personally i loved to watch your sketchbook sessions, but it seems like you kinda stoped doing them. maybe bringing them back and doing a series with themed spreads could be a great idea and could inspire you as well as help your art block. love your art💞✨
I love these designs and concepts!!! Mermay has my whole heart… for video ideas I do miss your unedited extremely long sketchbook vlogs… but I also enjoy your sewing projects and 3d modeling… I just love seeing your process of creating and designing it’s so amazing ❤❤

ok, hear me out.... high fashion centaurs!
YUSSSSS OMG
High fashion centaurs would be so silly and now i need them in my life
Okay that makes so much sense and I love the idea of like, a bunch of Arabians and Andalusians and Thoroughbreds as the deeply entrenched and powerful fashion houses, and then a quarterhorse or mustang as the scrappy newcomer with slightly western inspired streetwear
I’d love the idea that if in the lore, the princesses ancestors were once allies with the humans, and summoned the Kajuis to help them, but when humanity started destroying the ocean and decided they were too good to listen to the merfolk, the mermaids turned against them.

@@Daelyah I would love to read that, it seems like a very interesting idea
Idea suggestion: Do the same "thing" in different medium/techniques. One thing I love about your channel is the "Jack of all trades" aspect, because I love having many passions and hobbies as well and it's fun how skills from one area can transfer to another. So, for example you could start by designing and illustrating one little guy, then you go and sculpt the little guy, and then maybe like a wild card like embroidery, jewelry making or new things you've never tried. Cookie decoration version of the little guy? 3D modeling of the little guy? Infinite possibilities!
I think you just gave me an idea of something I could do for my own channel, thanks!
yeah this would be so fun and interesting!!
You did NOT just pick my top 3 favourite sea creatures (outside of bioluminescence creatures)💀 my is going wild this video
MERMAY, I love your fear of the ocean being turned into cool crazy ocean people

I've been a little behind on your videos but everytime I come back to watch all of the new videos I'm completely blown away, these are so good ahhhh!!
ohhmmgg not the jacob geller fear of the depths insert hell yeah!!
I adore these three, and love their lore as well ❤
7:23 actually, the white part is their back! they float in the water with their bellies upward, like they're "crawling" on the surface tension of the water. so you got the design correct!
The "all the art I did in 2024" shorts gonna be so packed this year ^∆^
I would love to see you try your hand at making a short comic! Your art style is amazing and you already have so many great existing characters. I’m sure there’s a story somewhere in there 😁
the porcelain mermaid is magnificient !!!
Next art video idea??? Buildings inspired by objects would be super intriguing. Maybe something like a giant coffee maker but it’s a grungy, steampunk factory. Or a castle inspired by antique candles and candle sticks. Idk I think that would set my brain on fire
Those are the deadliest and the most beautiful sea creatures turn into mermaid it’s gonna be awesome
It would be great to see you tackle more environmental pieces. I imagine a nice pirate ship, or a cozy tree house.
I love mermay but I never really catch it so thank you for reminding me and making these absolutely beautiful drawings!
I genuinely really love the idea of the island monster thing, imagine how cool that would be 💥
Like there’s a group of pirates that come across an island that looks very vaguely like a lizard or smt, then they explore it and find a cave, and the cave has like rock teeth. They keep going deeper and deeper and it just closes💥
That would be fire💥
You should definitely do that for an environment video like the one u just did‼️
They are gorgeous. I love the colors😍🤩✨️💕💕💕💕
Art looks awesome as always! Keep going, you’re getting better and better each day.
11:35 the markings on the face kinda remind me of the sugar skulls from the Mexican holiday, Dia de Los Muertos (the day of the dead); it kinda gives her a bit of a “harbinger of death” vibe, and considering her meangirlness, I would say that’s dope
Currently working on finding a twist on mermaids for a DnD adventure and then This pops up in my feed 😮 You are a god sent alpaca!
Just popping in to say, your shrimp colours landed great. The struggle paid off.
omg your character designs are incredible!! you have such a good imagination and just a lot of creativity. thank you for blessing us with such masterpieces 🥹🙏🏼. as for the content suggestions, personally i loved to watch your sketchbook sessions, but it seems like you kinda stoped doing them. maybe bringing them back and doing a series with themed spreads could be a great idea and could inspire you as well as help your art block. love your art💞✨
I’d love to see your concepts for alien landscapes. The wilder, the better
A "What's In My Bag" drawing videos for either yourself or your characters?
I love these designs and concepts!!! Mermay has my whole heart… for video ideas I do miss your unedited extremely long sketchbook vlogs… but I also enjoy your sewing projects and 3d modeling… I just love seeing your process of creating and designing it’s so amazing ❤❤
WHAT?? another one ?? aahhhhhhh thank you you are too kind to us ❤
