- Our first impressions of Dubrovnik, Croatia!
This was our first time in Croatia, and our first stop is the popular city of Dubrovnik.
Its history and tourist attractions are mind blowing, and its beaches and sights are beautiful.
It was a bit overwhelming with the amount of tourists visiting the city, especially after the show Game of Thrones was filmed here. But it did not take away from our perfect holiday.

Croatia is my favorite country that i've been to
Love Dubrovnik 🥰 and Croatia.
Wow, I heard that Croatia had some filming locations for Game of Thrones, but when I saw the city it immediately clicked that it's King's Landing.
This country is in our bucketlist 👌🏼
Oh cool! I really really like Croatia. It's like Italy, but nice😊
Ancient Dalamatia …❤
👍🤣
Awesome Greetings from Helsinki, Finland🇫🇮🇨🇦🇫🇮🇨🇦
Dubrovnik is a gem for sure!! I was lucky to see it in 1985 when it was still in Yugoslavia. Such an amazing place. Happy Travels
Gelato is Italian for ice cream!
Been there with my wife, loved it! So fun seeing some of the same places!
I visited Dubrovnik in 2007 or 2008, when I spent also some days in Montenegro. I plan to visit again Croatia, is a beautiful country. Enjoy your stay!!!!!
Wow what a beautiful country, with her old historical buildings, which once broken by war.
@@COCOGROCOSHOWdont spread your lies here. War history is clear. Croatians were victims, but we overcome everything! That is the only truth!!

That is a great commercial for that AirBnb accommodation!
Breathtaking old town. I'm Romanian, I was a child 12 yo during the war, I remeber when my dad said to me "These guys are madmen, they are bombing Dubrovnik, that is a jewel!". I do not think it is important to place blame today, I beleive it's better to enjoy this wonderful scenary under the shade with e beer, and make sure that that kind of war never happens again.
Of course they have museum of that horible War to put all blame on the Serbs ,same like Muslims in Bosnia . Non of them will never say that in Croatia and in Bosnia first victims are SERBS but "VICTIM CARD " is reserved for Croats and Bosnians . We are living in that kind of World ,unfortunatly . Bombing of Dubrovnik was wrong and horrible but what is NICE in the CIVIL WAR ???? They also never gonna say civil war ,they like to say "Serbian agression" but truth is that those provinces decide to separete from Yugoslavia and start terrorizing Serbian population there . If Serbia (I hope they will) opens museums about Croat and Muslim attrocities in that War woulb be 10 times more horible to see .
@@COCOGROCOSHOW Bullshit
@@COCOGROCOSHOW Yea, they would never put in that museum that all started after Yugoslavian army already withdraw from Croatia after agreement between Tuđman and Milošević "to keep it peacfully", and that there was no need for war at all because negotiation process was already started. But instead to resolve it on table, the moment Yugoslavian army withdrew, Croatians tryed to ethnicly clean Dalmatia of Serbs -- as usual, under patronage of "international peacekeepers" -- so in the end you got a bloody civil war, with lot of irregular units on both sides, that ended in Blokade of Dubrovnik and smashing Old Town... So I am not surprized at all that so called musem has not any facts or explanation in it, because "we went a little nazi, AGAIN, and tried to genocide Serbs, AGAIN", although negotiation process already strarted, sure would not look nice... And of course, they always forgeth to say that "evil Serbs" didn't came from Mars or Venus, but lived there for centuries...
Just pay respects to the brave defenders and People of Dubrovnik from '91 to '95 who endured terrible deprivations and terror from the barbarians to the east.
And back then no one helped the Croatian people in their battle to survive unlike Ukraine now where they can't do enough for them. The clown above me in his stupid comments is just a taste what they had to put up with and still now.
@@svarozjov How can you tell that a Serb is lying? His lips are moving.
Visited Croatia last year. We fly from Helsinki to Split and rent a car from there. I really recommend Krka national park, amazing waterfalls, Zadar sea organs and Split old town
Primosten is a lovely town with long beaches. Stop there when you drive north.
Hi guys, new subscriber here! I found you while looking for info on Albania. Croatia looks incredible! I really enjoy your filming style and the things you look at. What a great place! 🤗Enjoy! Have fun! 😁 But don’t jump! You don’t know how deep and rocky the water is! And that baby needs its dad! 🤨
Gelato is ice cream in Italian. Another italian/croatian word you want to know while there is branzino. Its sea bass, you dont want to skip it if its on the menu.
Pro Croatian tip. This is not the water, it's the sea! Never say water is beautiful, instead say sea is beautiful :P
Where I visited in Croatia it was very Rocky with cliffs to jump from straight in to the clear ocean and they had very nice Pasta and Pizza. Rented a big house, great time :)
Gelato is just the Italian translation of ice-cream lol :)) It's similar to caffe latte for instance, or other fancy terms that are just Italian translation of ordinary things.
you should go to split and krka national park
We are going there! Stay tuned
i work and live in dubrovnik nice video hehe
I'm glad you liked it in Croatia, just try to get more cultural context before posting something. Term 'Balkans' is considered derogatory in the entire region, especially in Central / Southeast Europe where Croatia is located, as it was often used pejoratively by Western countries to depict the region as uncivilized and politically chaotic. So it's like putting a title: "I found my favorite US city stolen from Native Americans (NEW YORK)"... While it may be factually accurate, it is still not appropriate wording. Especially when you can say European or Mediterranean or anything similar that doesn't carry the same connotation.
Dubrovnik is beautiful, but it is also too expensive considering other cities in Croatia that are also worth visiting, such as Šibenik, Pula, Zadar and Split from the larger coastal cities and Rovinj, Poreč and Omiš from the smaller ones.
Everything what is good is expensive...
That's why Ferrari is more expensive than Skoda
❤🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷
Bus got delayed? Welcome to Croatia! 😂😂
@JetLagWarriors If you go to Zadar, you have to check out the sea organ, it's under water, but you hear it plays almost like music.. =) And they also have on the same exact spot, like a big floor made out of sun-catching-plates. That in the evening shows an amazing lights.. :) P.s I go to Croatia every year, we even have a house there. (Lives in Sweden10 months, then Croatia in the summer) You also have the "for the rich" place an island Hvar, There you will see the Mega yahts and super rich ppl. And if it rains where you lives, you don't have to pay for the hotel. (thats what I have heard anyway)
😊😊❤❤
Come finland +25c after next few days 🌞
Looks better than Lahti - that’s for sure!
😂😂😂
The bus thing would never happen in Finland! When are you going back?
19:58 - LMAO!
Balkan is a Turkish name of the mountain in Bulgaria. Dubrovnik is not there.
Balkan peninsula is from Slovenia/Croatia to Turkey...and yes, Dubrovnik is located there
@@mirkokapor1249 Absolutely wrong.
What is the temperature °C there?
22 or so every day. Perfect temp for me
You came back to Bakan 🥰 Enjoy in Croatia, greetings from Serbia 🥰🥰

I suggest Konoba Dubrava restoran for real local food.
Hey now Canada has an old town. Quebec City!
I don't believe that "most of the Dubrovnik was rebuilt". Even if you hit stone with mortar- these buildings don't collapse. I believe more precise term would be "damaged and restored". Otherwise- kudos on your pronouncing and genuine interest for local culture and cuisine. Ajvar awareness needs to be spread.

Gelato is jäätelö in italian language 😄
Gelato is ice cream in Italian. They are the same thing. If you call your ice cream "gelato" outside of Italy, you are being fancy and you imply that your ice cream is of high quality, similar to the excellent ice creams of Italy.
I think that difference is that one has got milk in it and the other one is fruit based ‼️🤷🏻♂️
Dubrovnik is waaay too touristic. Loved more the small villages by the coast.
Dubrovnik didn’t sustain heavy structural damage during the 1991-1992 war. Most of the damages was cosmetic in nature…such as the clay orange roof tiles…most of those were replaced.
Of course they have museum of that horible War to put all blame on the Serbs ,same like Muslims in Bosnia . You both are idiots. Hundreds of phosphorus bombs which fell through the roof and burned houses is not " structursl damage?". 179 bombs fell on Stradun. Walls were hit mamy times but they are 6 meters tick...idiots were bombing City hopping they will enter and steal whatever they can. There was no any army in Dubrovnik. Serb and Montenegroes are known to be brave again unarmed people. Once armed Croatian army kick there ass and they were running like rabbits

Game of Thorens , in summer no recommed
Dubrovnik is original and only a small portion has been damaged in war...therefore...your comment that majority of Dubrovnik has been renovated is not true mate ...the old stones are polished but not replaced .huge difference
Regards.
Croatian dude ...
In the attack on Dubrovnik in 1991 and 1992, out of 824 buildings in the historic core (old town), 594 were damaged, with a total area of 192,338 square meters, of which 382 were residential, 19 religious and 10 public, while the rest of the buildings had their roofs damaged. In the wartime destruction of the historic center of Dubrovnik, 72 percent of the city's buildings were damaged, nine of which were completely burned, while the roofs of four others were partially burned.
Please, you are from Croatia, but don't write that minor damages were suffered, because that is not true.
We who lived through it know that.. and you can easily find the destruction of Dubrovnik on CZcams, which was certainly not a "small portion".
@@mirkokapor1249 mate...what do you mean who was there knows that?!....comparing to other cities in Croatia during the war such as vukovar/knin ..yes you can call it minor damages...anyhow...we are free to say what we saw .what we read...what we heard and make are own opinions...cheers

Croatia is not Balkan, never was, never will be…
Cevapi and burek as well as otter kind of pita are best in Sarajevo. Dubrovnik has a great sea food and pasta. Grill is the best in Serbia. Probably south Serbia. Why Croatia wanted to separate? They were always highly nationalistic since WW II.. That you can’t learn there.
That is not true. Croatian are not highly nationalistic. Your statement say more about you then about people of Croatia. Kingdom of Jugoslavia and Jugoslavia were states made by contract, so historically we were separate states before agreement . People were not happy with Jugoslavia In 1990, Slovenia and Croatia decided to made their own national states again.and separate from Jugoslavia. Serbs came with tenks, soldiers and start to kill our citizens. From 1990-1995 I was almost five times killed., my house was completely destroyed...so when I see statement like this it makes me very angry.
@@majaharbig5326 Sorry, but not only you’ve suffered. Thousands have suffered. Facts are facts. Look up Croatia between 1929-1945, then talk. Not all Croatians are like that of course, but nationalistic flare was always present. Croatia and Slovenia did not have a good reason to leave. They were living the best lives of all republics in ex YU. That is also a fact. Them leaving does not justify war of course, especially Balkan slaughterhouse wars. It is much more complicated than this but there is no space or time for any meaningful discussion here. 🍉☮✌

Was there ever a Serb that didn't lie?
@@damirblazevic4823 in this case both sides telling lies. Yes, of course bombing of Dubrovnik was terrible, esepcially for me. I am from Belgrade, but half of my closest family was in Dubrovnik during a war, and now. I am visiting Dubrovnik regularly with my daughter, with car, my daughter in December with her boyfriend... so i don't have any problem. But, during one of my visit with daughter, walking on city walls, saw a turist guide who was talking to Japanese turist that - Serbs engage Chausescu Securitate to kill people on Stradun with snipers. (?!?) What a stupid lie. Yugoslavia had best educated sniper soldiers, no need for Securitate. Even at this movie i saw one more lie. In the museum (time 16:55) is shown photo from Split, concentration camp Lora, but for Serbs, not for Croats. So, both sides lie, and that needs to stop asap.
