i started this in late december/very beginning of January over winter break. I'd heard this song and was like "i wanna do an animatic to that." problem was- the song was- as you can tell- heavily pirate themed. So instead of just moving on like a normal person, I made an entire AU for this one animatic! It was a lot of on and off work because of school and overall lack of motivation, and had it been any other project I would have just dropped it- but I'd already made the au and was committed to the idea so I kept going. this was such a hefty project but I'm pretty happy with the end result, so- i hope you all like it! :]

Oh my god this HURTS SO GOOD. I love pirate AUs of anything but I didn’t expect one of the turtles to be this amazingly angsty! My smile just slowly dropped during the video until the very end when I literally just kept going “NOOO, STOP, NO” out loud absjaf this is fantastic and hurts and you did such a good job with it.
Words cannot explain how excited I am I'm only looking at the thumbnail right now I may have not watched it yet but I can already tell it's a masterpiece.
DOODLE THIS WAS AN AMAZING ANIMATIC /POS I loved every second of it!! Also the camera angles and little tense action packed moments had me hooked!! @@thedoodlebug thank you! I thought of it on the spot because I think it’d be good to have a royalty themed name because they might be well known or popular pirates.
I love this concept so much. They might be like, a magical legend as such in peoples eyes, but are really four turtle guys with hamato powers and color themed clothes.

Suuper cool AU, wow! I want to know more about it-- were they forced to become sailors, or was it a choice when they were younger? Is there no (or very little) solid ground in this world? What exactly does the Kraangken do other than sink ships for the lolz? What happened to Leo's rizz?

So I may be a bit intrigued about all this, but I'm a real sucker for pirate AUs in post apocalyptic Worlds x) (which would be very fitting considering what it's based on)

its set where they’re well- they’re pirates! or, started out as bandits n pirates (w morals ofc) but have a “guardians of the galaxy” type of dynamic- like they saved the world once (shredder, havent fully figured out his au concept yet- probably gonna be something to do w curses or some other sea legend idk) n now they’re no longer thieves (but yknow they’re silly guys so they’re still gonna occasionally snag some treasure) and work on helping out seaside villages n whatnot. There’s still plenty of land and solid ground, but the kraangken- once their version of the technodrome was released (the prison dimension is- instead of being unlocked with a key, the entirety of it is inside a bottle- dimension in a bottle instead of a ship kind of thing. the foot fleet- not clan- released the kraangken by performing a ritual to release the contents of the bottle and yada yada the kraangken are let out.) once their vers of the technodrome was released they flooded the earth, so everyone was forced to the sea. they left some islands available, but primarily for their own use- hence their trip to an island in the second chorus. the kraangken use them for storage and whatnot, so the plan was to blow it up and destroy it so that they would have a fighting chance.
the kraangken, aside from sinking ships- although it is those sadistic little guys’ favorite pastime- curse individuals (kraangifying them). they also like to just wreak havoc wherever they can- like terrorizing any remaining villages, kill off entire species of fish n sea creatures because it 1: takes away a food source for the resistance survivors and 2: just for funsies.
as for the last question i’m not sure what you’re talking about ahdgshgd
going back to the first question lou jitsu comes from the Hamato- obviously- but instead of a ninja clan, they’re long line of sailors. Majority of them find positions in the navy- since this is set in the early 1700s- the golden age of piracy (hence donnie’s lack of advanced tech). although over time, the family has turned to becoming fishermen, silently on the sidelines and waiting for the shredder’s return. Their ninpo is still an element in the story, although it’d likely be portrayed some other way- im not sure how yet. anyways, lou jitsu turned away from the fisherman’s lifestyle and rejected the navy as well, instead becoming a world renowned privateer. big mama works with the royal navy- they pay her to bring in treasure and riches from enemy ships and other such pirates, while she keeps the prisoners for her battle nexus as well as all things mystic. she snags lou jitsu, yada yada you know the rest. once he has the turtles, he turns to piracy on his own, and raises the turtles into it. so thats how they become pirates :]
