She's a perfectionist and sometimes that can hinder us. Motivation was a bop but if she didn't feel it , then it was good for her. Like she said outside forces had to put it out with or without approval.

Motivation was a banger tho. Sometimes the label knows what sells and what's gonna get you out there. I would have taken out those 3 albums even tho it didn't represent me but just to get you known more.

Same thoughts, I don't think anything she's out since has been as successful. I've not felt any of her new music at all. The label can help you then once you get more notoriety you can experiment .

She was eating it all up, all of her music, when she thought we would too, but we didn’t and so now she’s singing a new tune saying it was her decision to fall back. When really she got shelved and fans weren’t feeling it.

Her not liking the song the label tried to give her explains why they keep shelving her. They want her to be the next pop star but she wants r&b. I feel like we all keep blaming her team but maybe its Normani all along sabotaging herself. An r&b album in the summer is a horrible idea.
That what the group wanted too, they wanted to be an R&B group. But the label force them to be fully pop group. So, I think I can understand Normani choices.
She's on a new label and under new management. R& B is perfect for summer.

I would really love to see Normani and Leigh Anne collab. Their stories are extremely the same except perrie and Jade support Leigh Anne . Anyway motivation is probably her best song I loved it and it was a smart move by her team tbh
She comes across as an overhinker. My sister is like that and I can always tell when looking at her that she’s always in her head. Normani is her biggest critic/enemy and that is problematic for her career.

Normani spends too much time thinking and trying to be conceptual and not enough time actually executing. Also, I feel like a lot of new Black artists are severely limiting themselves with trying to center their brand on being Black asf. You're Black. Just put your work out and be great. It will be Black asf because you're Black. Stop boxing yourself and trying do specific things to be more "Black" when you are literally Black.
What's crazy is, she literally said she felt boxed doing the generic songs of fifth Harmony, and said her new concept is what's freeing her.. her own words.. yet you say it's "boxing" her in, because you can't grasp it.. . . And don't value her opinion.. clearly.

I think there is something fulfilling and strategic about securing the support of the black community as a black artist. You'll always have that foundation even after Pop stops calling, which it will stop eventually. For example, Brandy's black fanbase is who holds her down now that Pop doesn't really rock with her anymore. Also, you have to remember artists like Whitney Houston got a lot of flack for not being black enough during her early albums. They called her White-y Houston and it devastated her that her community saw her as a sell out and not one of them.
Sometimes you have to do the stuff you don’t want to do to get the chance to be able to do more of the stuff you really want to do and a lot of Artists just don’t want to understand or listen/hear much of that at all, I think an Artist’s creative freedom is important as well as expressing themselves especially when they want to or is going solo from being in a group for long periods of time but also sometimes it’s better for some Acts to just listen to you’re labels,company and agency that just do a couple of good singles/features or a more mainstream Approach to an Album especially if they’re just start out.
she has every right to feel "Motivation" didn't represent her but in my opinion "Motivation" was so catchy and her only good song to date outside Fifth Harmony. I think if she stuck to that type of music she would have had more success by now. Her team really has been screwing her over
