    Six months ago I bought an "Opel Mokka Ultimate" and I am very pleased with it. I'm 63 years old. To date, I have had countless cars: BMW 318i, Alfa Romeo 156, Opel Corsa GSI, Fiat Barchetta, Volvo S40 2.0 D etc. I made hundreds of thousands of km. in Europe. Therefore, I have the opportunity to compare. I am very pleased to have preferred Mokka. It is very stylish. It has an easy and enjoyable driving. Very responsive car. The interior and exterior design is excellent. Engine-gearbox harmony and safety equipments are great. I recommend it to those who do not have children, though.

      After two years with Mokka, I am still very fond of it. Yes, it has some minor imperfections, like non user-friendly infotainment panel and misplaced opening mechanism of the boot, etc. But, hey, it was "love at first sight" and it still is ! 🙂 @@Co-SteeL

    @ivan747100 Před 2 lety +25

    Hi Ciro - if you look closely at the side of the boot at the 11:31 and 13:52 marks on the video, there is a dedicated slot on the either side of the boot for the adjustable boot floor panel to be raised up, so that it then remains level with the backrests when folding down the rear seats. It was most probably set to the lower position on the test car by a previous motoring journalist, to marginally improve boot capacity, and they never reset it back to the upper position again before it was delivered for your test review.

It's her car during the week to go back and forth to work and we use it when we are together on road-trips or running errands on the weekend. Having electric seats with memory function buttons is very convenient for us, where we would be adjusting the seats 5-6 times per week. Now I just open the door and look at the seat position. If it's so far forward that I'd have to cut off my legs just under my knees to get in, I press one button on the door card and wait 10 seconds for the seat (+ mirrors and steering wheel) to be moved to my preferred position before climbing in.

    History lesson, even corsa opcs had the Easter egg back in the day. GM Authority writes that the design tradition began in 2004, "diving enthusiast Dietmar Finger" who worked as a designer at Opel and after sketching a shark on the side of the Corsa D's glovebox was encouraged by his son to add one to the vehicle.Upon returning to the office, " Finger showed the shark design to Corsa chief designer Niels Loeb, who was immediately sold on the idea".

      The shark motif is usually hidden to some extent or at least not obvious, although the running lights and other little tweaks have a shark-tooth look about them. In the SRI of this series, the shark is on the little rubber mat in the phone pocket under the middle of the dash, but the dealership said there's another one I have yet to find.

There is just a lot of black tones and the move nowadays is chrome. The lack of chrome finish also compromise the nose of the car. Only 2 dealerships remain in Cape Town and both are the same franchise! I can only imagine how much this will cost to service, In Joburg there's competition and if not enough Pretoria is not far, I'd Only buy Opel if in Johannesburg/Pretoria or at least a City with more than 1 franchise brand. I feel you bro. I'm in Pretoria. Had a 1 litre turbo Adam Glam with all the gadgets for 6 years, and it's been my favourite car I've owned in SA. The gearbox linkage broke - a little piece of wire rope with a clevis, R10 000. The Head gasket went at 115 000km - R95 000 - yes, Ninety Five Thousand Rand... R35K and Dastek sorted it out for me - R28 000 of that was parts only available through Williams Hunt/Westvaal, among them, R14 000 for a water pump. R9600 for a full set of brake pads... or R9200 for 4 pad sets, 4 disks, 4 new shocks, 4 new shock mounts, and both front stabilizer links, from Goldwagen, and another R600 to have all that fitted at Tyres and More. Oh and R15 000 for an intercooler LOL fucken what? 15 grand for a low pressure plastic and aluminium radiator that costs 75 quid from any Vauxhal spares place in the UK - R1200 from Silverton Radiators, thank you very much. The Aircon compressor had some sort of an issue, apparently some Adams had a "different" compressor - 14 months to get that fixed under warranty... I'm guessing that somewhere during all of that they stuffed up something with the heater "No, No" they insisted that it wasn't anything to do with them taking the dashboard out a dozen times while trying to fix the aircon, anyway they said it needed a new climate control computer, R45 000... yeah nah, they can fold that quote till it's all sharp corners and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
      I really like the look of the Mokka, but with spares prices like that and a kak warranty: HYUNDAI KONA 2.0 EXEC, 5 YEAR 150 000KM FACTORY WARRANTY PLUS AN ADDITIONAL 2 YEARS and 50 000KM ON ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN (IOW 7yr 200K engine & drivetrain) Oh and 10 months in, the Kona is frequently reaching it's quoted 6.5L/100km combined consumption. Show it an uncluttered road and it gets as low as 5.2L/100km

    So let me explain the Shark.. It goes something like this. Legend has it that an Opel Designer/Engineer had to design a certain part or panel for a yet to be released Opel. When he was finished it looked rather bland and to add character his son drew a Shark on the sketch or the design.
    It was included in the production vehicle and has remained to this day on all Opel Models. In some Opel’s it is in plain sight and on others it is hidden away. For example it is in plain sight on the Corsa and Mokka models, but in the Grandland it is hidden in the Glove Box. Same for Astra. Opel has even had events where you have to “Find The Shark” on certain models.

    So we have had a petrol automatic Mokka for 12 months. So the lane control is a pain. Getting in the back is another issue. So kids will be ok but if your an adult you will have issues getting in and out. We have the keyless entry. We have given up on this as it is so temperamental. Then one big issue is when we go to open the car with the key fob. We find the car will not open. The key fob stops working. So we have a trick now to get round this. We have to open and close the boot. Which I am guessing because we have keyless entry it allows us to do this. Then the key fob comes back to life. We can now open the car with the key fob. The car has been back 7 times to the dealer. Still not fixed. Oh Vauxhall customer service is a waste of time. I will not say what I think of them.

This obsession with only large (same size chassis) cars is ridiculous. What happened to 3 doors? Not for everyone no but there is a massive market and car manufacturers trick us into thinking we don't want it because they want to save on building (different chassis size) costs.
