If she wants to tip, it is up to her. I cannot believe the debate over this. I worked a gas station in New Jersey, when I was younger. I got tipped for good service. It did not happen everyday. But, it did a couple times during the week. I was always grateful.

Yeah that's what a lot of people misinterpret. Tipping is for quality of service not service rendered. Why tip someone that gave you crap service just because they gave you service.
Camper is the luckiest dog in the world except that you don't feed him Pringles.
My tip for the day is - do not eat yellow snow.
This generation often “expects” tips regardless of quality of service. Back in the ol days it was based SOLELY on quality of service as it should be.
Oregon native here, and fellow Sprinter owner. You can pump your own diesel anywhere in Oregon, just not gas. Most places will fill your diesel tank too though if you want to wait for an attendant, but sometimes when a station is super crazy its nice to have the DIY option. For those interested, tipping is not required or expected at gas stations here, but if you get awesome service (like Nikki did) it is certainly appreciated. Safe travels!
Yeah, I recall driving through Oregon in my Sprinter and also fueling up myself. Diesel is not as flammable and also from what I understand is that there were cases in the past where the attendant was not paying attention and fueled gas in a diesel, causing damage.
And all the other states you pump it yourself.
That's the way it used to be- gas station attendants, they would pump your gas, wash your window, check your tires and even look under the hood if you ask them to! That was a long time ago but I'm thrilled some states have brought this back, I had no idea. Love Camper, he is the best companion anyone could have- excited for you getting your new home🐇
I remember this from my childhood. Late 70's-80's. Then all of sudden people started pumping their own and no service techs. It's a shame really.
They didn't bring it back. It never went away in those two states.
I think those states do it for safety. I think it’s a good idea. Part of it could be to encourage people to buy things at the gas station. They started putting so much for sale in gas stations. From souvenirs to food and drinks etc.
That indoor shower is brilliant!! One of the things I constantly wish I had in my Freightliner is a shower (which some trucks do have, especially for truckers who haul very high-value items and can't leave the freight - they have to have totally self-sufficient sleepers so they can easily remain in/ with the vehicle at all times). I go out of my way to stay in truck stops that have shower facilities where I have points, which can be a major source of stress because those tend to be the most crowded truck stops. If I had a shower, I would be much more likely to stay in rest areas, which are often SO much cleaner and have better space to exercise!!
PS- I just had to edit to leave my obligatory comment of love and admiration for Camper ... I'm here in my truck talking to him through my laptop😂😂he is just the MOST lovable boy!❤❤

The van looks way cool, but I'd only use the inside shower in a real emergency. Our trailer has a full bath, but even with hookups we'll use the campground's shower and keep all that humidity outside of the rig whenever possible.

That’s ok! But I will say all issues that I came across had nothing to do with overland and their building - It was a series of unfortunate luck on actual parts that again, had nothing to do with the builder. Lol
Honestly, I thought the same thing. 😬 The features were super impressive, but the van itself seemed so far from dependable, I couldn't justify it.

Yes. I spent 2 years in a 14' travel trailer with all the bells and whistles, including solar on the roof. Used pillow covers to store lots of clothes, linens etc.

Camper; just as adorable as usual! ❤🐕👍 So glad to see he's on a balanced diet! So many diseases start in the dog's mouth with bad gums. Having something good for him to chew on helps prevent those kinds of things and keeps the teeth clean. Makes sense that you would show the features of the rental van _after_ you've had a chance to get to know everything and optimize the features. I'm sure you new home we'll have many of the same things integrated! How exciting!
Loaner van/camper has lots of cool features. Bummer that reliability wasn't one of them. Hopefully, your new one won't have that problem.

Roof decks are neat, but I recently learned that they can disqualify you from getting some insurance policies. A van-dwelling friend with an E-350 hightop had some difficulty insuring her van with reasonable terms and cost. She did eventually find a policy, but one of the conditions was that she could never have a roof deck. She doesn't have or want one, but it was interesting that the insurance agent made a point of specifying that.

I lost my sweet, Australian Shepherd, baby girl, Shelah, last June, after being with her for nearly 13 years , so it really warms my heart to see your sweet boy Camper , in your videos. I still have my Ferlin the Ferret, who is also a sweet boy, but I will probably adopt another aussie soon. I had my Shelah from eight weeks old, so she was a really special girl, but can't wait to provide a good home for a shelter aussie, as long as it will be good to my ferret as Shelah was.

so, so next time you’re in Boise on a Sunday morning, the riverside hotel actually serves a massive brunch buffet made to your order and they allow dogs!!!! They have amazing art exhibit all throughout the hotel, main areas and restaurants and they support local artists which is really nice.

I have enjoyed your videos going way back to the Prius days. Being a fellow Prius owner I can understand your choice for more room and modern conveniences, but with convenience comes complexity. With the battery and heating trouble you have had I was surprised that you did not mention it and the repairs that were needed. Great van lots of cool features, but things break and wear out over time. I loved my Prius and how minimalist it was. Well " to each his own right" be safe and looking forward to seeing the new rig.

I always love seeing you drive through Oregon. It is my home state. I grew up in Oregon and still live between California and Oregon depending on my schedule and as an Oregonian I will say… you are not expected to tip your gas attendant! While it might be a nice thing to do, it is not required and not expected so if you cannot afford to do it (and most of us can’t) then don’t. Also, the new fuel law that was passed in 2018 basically allows you to self serve in gas stations located in rural areas where they are unable to have attendants on duty after 6pm. Of course some stations are allowing self service even though the law doesn’t apply to their area but for the most part it is still illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon which comes in handy on rainy days. 😁😁🤓. I won’t lie… I will sometimes just get out and pump my own gas and be done before the attendant even realized I was there but that motivation is reserved for days when I really need to get on the road and make good time. Lol.
Oregon is my home, too! It's fun to see Nikki and Camper driving in our beautiful backyard roads!! You can't beat oregon for beautiful views and good vibes!!
The van is great. I didnt realize she could fill up on river water, thats cool. Headroom is a big improvement over the prius. Glad shes making some money and movein on up.

I'm just curious why you don't have camper in a seatbelt , halter belt when in passenger seat. You're like the best mom ever so I know you've got your reasons, i'm curious. I was in a bad car accident ( not my fault)with 2 of my dogs, I normally always have them buckled in but I was literally going 2 miles down the street with a friend, unfortunately, we hydroplaned and wrapped around a telephone pole. My friend was seriously injured and so was 1 Of my dogs. I ended up rushing her to the Emergency vet versus me going to a hospital first. I'm very blessed that we were able to save her. And she lived several more years, She just ran crooked as she had fractured every vertebrae in her neck. I was told she may never walk again and she needed 1of her legs amputated. I ended up Treating her myself and I was able to save her leg, Through physical and massage therapy, I did my own studying and eventually got my license. So for several years I was an animal therapist, and I helped save a lot of animals from what could have been a put down situation. I believe in my heart sometimes she might have gone through that suffering so that I could save others not just her. She was an incredible beautiful being and I cry over her to this day. I have been rescuing since I was three years old I presently have Five dogs in a cat and many more in spirit. There is absolutely no judgment here just curious because of what I went through ever since then. My animals are always buckled in. She was in the back seat and was thrown forward into the passenger floorboard so hard that it almost killed her. I like you love my Fur babies they are my life They literally are the closest thing we as humans can get to unconditional love. God-bless you and camper we love you so much.. Stay safe cause we would miss you if you weren't here every friday. ❤

Yes, she should have camper in the back, if there are airbags they could really hurt him even kill him if deployed. She needs to have a seat belt harness also. I don't understand it.

I've been a nomad for years with different vehicles. Last car I camped in for some time was my 2001 Honda Insight. Tiny but great gas mileage. I have 2 of them. Storing them now. Nikki you inspired me to get a Prius. I got a 2010 Prius 3. What a great nomad car for me. Thanks for all your videos. I've learned a lot by watching them. 😊 I'm in Starbase, Texas preparing to watch the launch of the Space X Starship rocket. I've been touring the area scouting for good potential viewing spots. Launch may be the 17th. I already have some amazing photos of the rocket and around Starbase. Enjoying my Prius the whole time. 😊

I recently got an Isotherm drawer 65 fridge/freezer for my Vanagon. It cost a small fortune, but nothing else comes close.
The original Norcold fridge from 1983 still works fine, but the swinging door is either obstructed from fully opening or on the opposite side from where I'm accessing it 50% of the time. The drawer is a game changer.

Already commented via Patreon, but that 'bar thingy' is a "Faucet Glass Rinser" I'm "Asperger's" and words matter when I try to communicate. We love you fellow two-legged pack member. Give Camper a big hug for me. He's the related four-legged member of my family member known as Matix (another "pink nosed Staffordshire Bull Terrier"). He was our daughter's dog but circumstances meant he was our Summer Camp attendee from time to time. Matix passed last year but he was a dear soul I miss greatly in my life.
Our next vehicle is the "Launch Edition" Aptera (3 wheel EV). We'll rely on that as our two person transportation vehicle rather than a home on wheels.

Super rando question bc I have struggled with this w my dog (not living out of a vehicle though): when you were living in your Prius and it was hot out and you need to go inside somewhere and you couldnt bring camper, what would you do? I assume now you have temp control in the van. Sorry if you went over this before, there’s a lot of videos to wade through!
I had climate control in the prius but more often then not paid for a dog walker or sitter when he couldn’t come - or wait til evening to shop when it was 100% safe

So nice that you tipped your attendant, especially when he is working in such cold weather, and windshields are also usually a bit dirtier after a long road trip.
That breakfast sandwich looked delicious. What all was on it?
Electrical issues... One thing you could do is to make sure all the things that provide and consume the most "juice" are properly grounded. 5 bucks says "something" important (like maybe one or both of your alternators) have their ground cable attached to "paint" as opposed to the metal frame. Most paint, even the anodized stuff, isn't very conductive. So... they're is a good chance you have a whole bunch of stuff "just floating" electrically. Checking continuity with a multimeter between the ground wires and what they're attached to would tell you if something is "floating"... Many military vehicles have conductive braids between the metal casing of the vans / trailers and the ground ground (ie the dirt below the tires outside). So it's "exceptionally" grounded ground... (Metal braid ground straps on paint.. You get ghost issues like the ones you seem to be having. My guess is that only your heater, AC, and fridge really pull any juice. Check the grounds if there is a grounding wire and compared to the ground lug of any three prong plug you got of anything pulling or providing serious juice.)( If I was driving in a van like yours I'd be using a laptop for my computer needs. So.. I figure your using one.. Laptops don't use any juice compared to most things...) You would rattle off a list of stuff (electronic) in the beginning of your video and they are quite "eclectic" when it come to the use of the juice (electricity). Just my two cents...
Of course if there is a "hot" connected to a painted section forming a pseudo short, that would cause issues too... A buddy / co worker once took a screwdriver to a case that was not grounded, but had the "hot" attached to it. We soon heard a loud boom (and of course said WTF) and went to investigate... Thank god the screwdriver had an insulated grip...
That breakfast sandwich looked so good and made me hungry. Had to pause and make myself some food as a result. That's so smart for them to use a second alternator for the home battery.
