Both Camper and and Rodney are total characters. Campers sits in the front seat and looks at country you are cruising as if he knows what 's happening, where you are, he is a true traveller. Rodney he is still getting the hang of it, he looks really funny under the cover. Great country in Utah, those red rock formations and labyrinths are really beautiful and unique.
He chose you and Camper for a reason. You almost broke my heart when you left him at the vet.

I wish you would get a harness for Camper in the front seat. And restrain RV in some harness on the bed or seat. They could both be seriously injured, or worse if you ever had to slam on the brakes or were ever involved in an accident.

Hahaha, it was sooo funny how he pushed himself away instead of leaning over your shoulder. Poor baby, just such a bizarre 1st time experience for him. You are such a trooper Nikki! Loved how you just pushed thru the experience...and the way he laid all stiff horizontally as you set him down to get him out of backpack. I am sorry it was such a stressful experience for you both, but my gosh how you two had me rolling around cracking up!

I felt so bad for your new baby, he looked so uncomfortable in your back pack. He was kind of hanging back. It was hard on my neck too. Lol but he’s adorable. 😢

As a fellow hiker-carrying-their-small-dog-on-their-back, I highly recommend the k-9 sport sack knavigator!!! I used a bag like yours for two years, then found this one, it's the only one I've found that has hip straps and actually takes my pups weight off my shoulders!!
Ahh! Yes I need a good one for this (since he wasn’t finished with his vaccines and I didn’t wanna risk it but also big bike rides and snow haha) and that k9 sucked haha we did try little chonk and it is great but no hip strap. This sounds like it could be great too! Gonna try both! THANK YOU!
Rodney looks like he's adapting well.Camper even gave up his seat to him once in travel mode. Rodney looked like he was on psychedelics in the backpack on the hike, just checking it all out with his head laid back. From the footage he seemed to handle the backpack well. With the addition to the family, I'm going to predict, a new home base of sorts by years end.Excellent sunset pics as always. Happy Travels till next week!

11:04 hack I learned when potty training babies and dogs buy sheets a size or 2 bigger then the mattress and layer them on the bed so it’s a little bit harder to soak through to the whole bed if you can get it off fast enough

Nikki; most of us know first hand what an enormous gift you’ve given Rodney he will like all dogs love you completely I didn’t realize until this episode how giving a person you are. It’s easy to think fondly of you for obvious reasons…. but saving a dog like this when you have little space, is vivid description of your profound ability to feel outside yourself. You taking such good care of Rodney illuminates the kind of human goodness that we are all edified by just vicariously seeing how you do it. We are all made better by sharing these moments with you. EDIT: I'm just a few minutes in and Rodney is so laid back that it's silly - dog hanging one way, and tongue hanging another.
For dog carrying, particularly for a medium sized one, I recommend getting a regular top-loading backpack that you would find comfortable for carrying the amount of weight Rodney is. (Ideally it would have a removable top pouch, or you can cut it off, or if it's floppy enough you can tuck it down inside the body of the backpack.) Put a comfy pillow in the bottom of the backpack for Rodney to sit on. Put him inside facing sideways with his front paws kind of hanging over the side of the pack. This has proved very comfy for my dogs for many many years. Bonus is that you can put your own gear in the separate bottom section, if it has one. (I have also used a front loading pack that zips all the way shut that I cut a hole in the side of for my dog to stick her head out of, but that's a lot more effort than a top loader that's ready to go right from the store. Pillow inside to sit on in this one, too.) Happy hiking!!!

So happy for Rodney and for you! As an aside, we were asked by a local rescue organization to take in a Staffy in for a few days because of an impending major snow storm. That was five years ago, Bowser is still with us along with two 'sisters' and a 'brother.' Impossible for us to give up a foster.

There's no such thing as a foster they always end up being adopted.😊 You got the theme name thing going on now that you're a boy mom. I'm a proud mom of three boys and one girl. Both have their own themes. The canines are after drinks and the feline is after a football player from my favorite team. I have theK9 backpacks that I use for the two small dogs and the cat and once I got them to where they would sit upright and quit leaning back it's a lot easier. I discovered having name be in a size up and backpack and I'm putting one of their foam blocks in the bottom for them to lean into me instead of away and it made it a lot easier. Also having snacks and making them bring their head up over your shoulder works.
We love our 2 pups as well! Great to see you taking on another pup!
