her design is AMAZING, the way she turns her head with a bird like motion is so cool
it's brilliant how they manage to look exactly like how sphinx's are portrayed in paintings. except that this sphinx is huge.
Right? It's so creepy, and yet also graceful in a bizarre way. She truly feels like a fey being halfway between a goddess and a wild animal.
ive been watching clips of ppl interacting with it just because it's such a cool design and animation, I don't even have the game yet lmao. I held off, but watching people's gameplay, I def think I will be purchasing soon.

Her voice is on point too. My favorite character in the game.
The way she goes about building suspense before revealing the answers is SO damn creepy. Especially the eyes

It’s really good design not just the teeth but the way her skin flares up is so unsettling
it's really cool but it also kind of sounds like a gameshow like who wants to be a millionaire when theyre building suspense if the person got the answer right. lol

@@AuroraBoost the mythological one does but the one in dragon dogma 2 seems to just be playing with you (I suspect that the myth also exist in that world and the sphynx likes to keep people on their toes)
She doesnt really do anything bad if you fail a riddle. She just get disappointed and leaves. You can fight her but she`ll also leave if you dont do it honorably.

I love her look, her voice and her entire questline. She’s the best part of the game and the coolest character, imo.

A little tip. I found out that you can jump on the sphinx when she flies away for the first time and mount her in the same way you would mount a griffin. That way you save yourself the trip to her and you can get straight to the second part of the quest
Can you get the last chest in time before you jump?
@@RadCon97 Yes of course, but you have to be quick. More important is, do not forget to take your port crystal with you when you have placed one the first time
I just port crustalled back to the chests after she took me to the next place but i have a ton of port crystals because im in ng+@@RadCon97

Dude, not many games can add a suspense scene before responding to a riddle and make me genuinely fear for my life.
This riddle (or phrase) hits me very hard 5:08 as it reflects in my real life. Although, I tried to puzzle something about their past on how would effect their teachings to me & my siblings such as eat lunch at least on time 12pm rather than 1pm

Wow the face of the sphinx is really intimidating, i don't remember a boss monster of a not horror game with such a creepy look. Also i feel kinda bad for the sphinx it wasn't a really bad guy
I really love this design of the sphinx so much but her wings are very small compared to her body so it looks comical to me but Gosh everything else is perfect. I really love the purple glow on her wings. They remind me of a peacock's beautiful feathers. I really love the horrifyingly intense buildup of her judging you're answer. Her just smiling creepily, pupils dilating, her head tilting and leaning very close to you. I like the phasing of the patterns of her face as that happens too. It truly feels like a sigh of relief everytime she approves of your anwers and she phases back to her calm state.
i feel like there is another part of her design that you actually like ;-;

For the final fight you can just use unmaking arrow from the very beginning and shoot her wing, she will instanly died, you don't even need to provoke her first

That's the very much the point of a Sphinx.
A thin veneer of civility, mysticism and elegance hiding a merciless carnivore hungry for prey.
In mythology they were described as "monstrous yet disturbingly human" so this *uncanny* lady has just the correct "vibe."
She's playing mind games, clearly trying to creep the Arisen out with invasion of personal space, those predatory pupil dilations and head tilts so the Arisen would feel unnerved and doubt their answer.
Although I think she's also being genuine when she states she has taken a liking to the Arisen.

Seems like the fanbase is split between those who want to *SLAY* her and those who want to _lay_ her.
I love the fact that the mural riddle is the most well-known one, but also hides the secret to actually being able to kill her.
The second mural outright hands you the answer by telling you to focus on her beastly body, striking her humanity at all causes you to fail the riddle, making her leave.
Question: is the Sphinx romanceable ?

The final encounter took place in a pocket dimension created as a last resort to stop this thing, a tiny buffer that was all that stood between it and the annihilation of the entire universe.
The encounter was going to consist of several phases where it took the form of each of the party's deepest fears, inflicting psychic damage every turn. Between phases he would return to his incorporeal state, meaning he couldn't take damage. It was meant to be a battle that switched between damage dealing and healing/survival. But, bards gonna bard.
Bard: "I roll to seduce."
Me: "Dude it's literally an amorphous, shifting, intangible mass of chaos and dark energy. It will only take physical form once it senses what your deepest fears are."
Bard: ..."I'm terrified of beautiful women. Now can I roll to seduce?"
21:36 so looking for that npc, noticed an ester egg of sorts, don’t know if its intended or not, theres at least two npcs that look like him, needed one is named vergil the other is named dante

It's random which one you need to bring to the sphinx, they are twins, only difference is one has curly hair one has straight hair.

You get a hint on how to fight it during one riddle. If you look at the amphora you get tasked with carrying, you can see that all her body is depicted as damaged excluding her head. If you enough damage to her head during the fight she'll fly off.
All these chests... and the one I want is unreachable.
pls remind people to take the damn ring she gives off before you shoot the arrow or she will just fly away bc damage is nerfed, i you havent metioned it

I was on my second play through and got stuck on the riddle where you find the first coin but I guess it changes depending on the first coin of that playthrough but I got a different ending when killing her
