- THE PEANUT VENDER was recorded in 1931 and originally performed by ROY fOX and his Band with Al Bowlly , the original song was written about a Cuban peanut vender.
.This is not the original footage of that song because there isn`t any so I created one .. This songs songs rhythm has been used on countless reggae classics over the years including great reggae artists such as Gregory Issacks Top Ten and numerous others. it must be one of the most recorded reggae "riddims" ever .
I don't know why. ..I keep going back to this Fantastic Song.....The Sound of It is Out of This World 🌍....These Guys Did a Great Job!!!!
The Shining Singer!!!...is on Vocals!!!🙂...Al Bowlly
I wish I could give this two thumbs up.
Speaking as someone who had The Peanut Vendor (El Manisero) printed on my bone marrow from infancy on in my music-filled home and who was propelled into decades and decades of dancing mambo, salsa, samba, playing bongos, congas, maracas, campana and so on, and who has dozens of recordings of it and two sets of band music for it hanging on my walls . . . I'd say this video is BEYOND EXCELLENT!!!! It takes me back to the early 50's as a toddler seeing Latin big bands on tv for the first time.
Some fun! 😊
great for 1931
Brilliant. Best video seen in 2021 and only 90 years old.
wow thats nice of you to say so
👍👍👍👍 to the editor
I love Al Bolly and this band
James, I've gotta say, unless one is paying close attention, you'd think this was the video of the song 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks kirk I appreciate that 😀👍
When Cuba was a country
Really great work with the video. Viewers can really pick up on the joy it gave when seen live ninety years ago! Kudos!
WOW, Almost in sync 😮😮😮
Thank you so much for posting, You have made a miserable old many very happy.
WHAT A WONDERFUL TUNE. ( SONG ) I DIDN'T KNOW WAS THAT OLD !
BLESSED YOU TUBE .
THE TIME MAXHINE.
Old music ! Very Fine .
Dude! Top job on the edit, banging!
Appreciate it!
MY FAVORITE ❤❤❤
So many words in English end OR ... including Visitor and Vendor. Still, a great rendition of this uplifting song.
I remember hearing a version of this song being played by Phil Harris and his orchestra on an episode of the Jack Benny Program. I didn't know the name of it until I was watching an episode of You Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx, and the contestants had to name the song. Finally, in 2021, I know the name!
🥜 Vendor! 👍
This sounds like Jamaican mento music .Lots of Jamaicans we’re in Cuba in the early 1900.
It's Cuban Son..this version sounds more Brazilian.
Wow what a Great Version of This Song....Thay Are Rocking....I Remember this From my Parents.... Could Not Ever Find This!!!!.... Sounds Great Too!!!....Good Job!!!...Latin Music Forever!!!
100 years from now this will be playing in Space or even Mars!!!...This Will Stand The Test Of Time!!!...it is 90 years old and it still ROCKS!!!!...Good Job Guys!!!!
Rita Montaner fue la primera en interpretar la canción en 1927 para la Columbia Records. Autor Moisés Simón Rodríguez conocido como Moisés Simons.

Who on earth voted down on this one?
I think they must get paid to thumb down 🤣👍
its ok i know where they live lol
@@thegoldenageofalbowlly2759 :}
I think they voted down the title. This is NOT the original. It’s one of many.
Probably someone who didn’t get their peanuts in time.
This is amazing. One of my all time favorite reggae riddims. Thank you for posting this.
Reggae?
@@nicitec1173 this rythym is used in thousands of reggae songs. Yes reggae☺️👍
@@jamieb0nd the rythm is actually orginally cuban which alot of reggae uses
You could also call it a jazz standard given how many jazz versions there are.
Must Play This For Lynn!!!!❤️
Great visuals! Thanks for your efforts!
...but if the original was from Cuba, why is the attribution to Roy and not the El Manisero from 1930?
Do tell?
Exactly
@@jamiesworldstarmusic6136 It was written by Cuban composer Moises Simon. The first person to sing the song using Simon's Spanish lyrics was Cuban songstress Rita Montaner. I suppose Roy Fox was the first person to perform the song in English. Back in the 1930s a lot of Cuban music was played in the US. Another Cuban song that became popular in the US after the lyrics were translated into English was "Marta, Rambling Rose of the Wildwoods."

@@gusalexandrakis5151 Yes!
If this is 1931, then it isn't the first. El Manisero dates to 1927, under the title Peanut Vender [sic] to 1930 and Don Azpiazú. Perhaps it's the first version in English, but that is irrelevant for the riddim.
This version is from 1931, it's a later recording.
Magnífico!
Love it ! Thank you !
The thumbnails gives me a uncomfortable feel lord the smile, but anyways the world needs old music
That's really cleverly done. Must of taken ages to do.
Thankyou. Believe it or not this took quite a while but I've got a few more on here where some have been much more challenging, with a user name like maybe you would like to check out my main channel? Let me know what you think 👍

Have you got "return to sendor?"
👀🤔🫣☺️You mean by elvis?
@@jamiesworldstarmusic6136 Sorry, just pulling yer' leg, Vendor/vender, sendor/sender. Roy Fox was a great British pre war dance band & Al Bowlly the singer was a huge name, but he was killed in an air raid on London. Look out for Ambrose & his orchestra too. The penguin & cotton picker's congregation are good tracks. Great job with the madness synching by the way, well done.
Buzz in
What's with the out of tune drums you added?
Seriously. You tune drums? 🤭
@@jamiesworldstarmusic6136 No, but the golden age of al bowlly made this
