- Making progress on the 3D Printed R34 Nissan Skyline project. In today's video I do some sanding and detail work on the body and apply primer making the layered surface much smoother. I show the design process I used to create the wheels for this vehicle. And I build a rear diffuser and tail pipe piece from styrene.

i really like how you integrated the cad work into the video. The way you combine 3d printing, engineering, and rc is very interesting and provides a very unique perspective.
Fisher Harper yeah really meta
I grew up with TurboCAD 2D/3D, used a little bit of AutoCAD and tried to learn Blender (unsuccessfully). But I spent hours upon hours as a kid designing everything around me, from a #2 pencil to a trebuchet to the Imperial Shuttle from reference images.
My dream was to make a career in CAD, with the ultimate goal being a car designer. That dream died with time.
But watching you do array copies, extrusions and Boolean functions reminded me of one of my favorite childhood hobbies. Maybe I'll revisit it one day. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the comment.
Haha I'm a senior in high school and I'm hopefully going into transportation design.
So far so good, yes those rim's need to be a little bigger. I think it's going to look great.
Man youre channel is gonna be huge. Its so well out together and relaxing and fun to watch. Keep up the great work
Car is looking great. And love how you give all the tips and tricks to getting stuff done. For sure one of the best new rc channels in my opinion. Keep up the great work and content
watching you model the wheel makes me realize I have alot of learning of fusion I still need to do.
Congrats on “Creator on the rise” ! I saw it under trending :D
😍😍 r-34 I love the detail I agree that the rims need to be a tad bigger! I want to keep up with this project every step it goes 😍😍😍😍
When I do panel lines with an exacto blade I use the blade backwards, like the tip of it but upside down, works pretty good
I'd love to see more styrene stuff!
Rear diffuser looks great!
Those rims are amazing, good work and thanks for showing the design process
its insane to me how much time you take on such a small thing as the wheels!, as always love the work you put fourth. ( i also really like how you have a cool groovy selection of music that hasen't been used so many times its stale)
Fantastic work
You can get great chrome exhaust tips by pulling apart those telescopic picky uppy aerials with magnets on the end that you get from the Dollar store, you can even roll the ends over, depending how you cut them.
Can't wait!
PERFEITO
as always mad skill
AMAZING! I didn't expect to see something like this. I've been working on 3D modeling for just over a year and will eventually get to cars once I've developed a decent skill level. Thought about 3D printing models as a hobby, but had no idea how people are doing it. I considered getting models printed professionally, but this has given me another option for experimentation; although it is a slightly daunting prospect. Thanks for the detailed breakdown.
Beautiful build 😁👍🏻
Thank you! You're guiding me to a new hobby that I was searching for. Thx man!
Looking good man! I really do enjoy the process being shown. I also agree with you that the wheels should be a bit bigger. The stock wheels on the Skyline are 18s and most people opt to put 19s on the bigger tuner vehicles such as this. Keep up the great work!
Loved the Fusion bits. I have never used a picture before to design but am seeing that is is easier. I recently designed a ProDrive wheel that is on my WRX and although it is 100% scale and accurate, i went about it wrong. I designed a single spoke then rotated it. Works fine but too much time involved. I will try this method.
When you broke out the Styrene I was happy to know it isn't a dead art. I have MANY models in my closet that are in different phases of Styrene builds. 15 years ago i didn't have a printer and Styrene was it. makes me want to pull some of those builds out of the closet now, lol.
3mm solid core solder is great for making 1/24 exhausts by the way. For the tips I use brass tubing as it has thin sharp edges.
There are many ways to design anything. Like I said I'm not sure if the way I showed is the best or easiest way, however I found that it worked well for me, hopefully it works well for you. A reference image certainly makes things easier.
Although I prefer CAD modeling and printing over styrene, It's nice to mix things up a bit. It's certainly a nice break from sitting behind a screen.
very cool. this just feed more my idea of 3d printing a model in bigger scale to make a computer case mod looking like a car
lol I love the hello everyone at the beggining of your videos
Looks awesome so far
I'm really enjoy watching your videos, if it wasn't for the fact I have way too many hobbies already I'd be building RC Cars like no tommorow.
HyenaButts what other hobbies ??
Stumbled across this randomly, but I got to say, your video editing is superb, keep it up, you kept it interesting the whole video.
PERFEITO UM DESTE NO BRASIL EU IA FICA BEM
Really cool! Cars coming along great, really like how the rear diffuser came out.
Dude, you have amazing talent of making these.
It's a Best 3d print project.
for future reference try applying water while sanding. it'll allow you to sand evenly throughout the body, also removes particles that may block the sand paper from sanding correctly in contrast to wiping ever minute or two. Tips from a panel beater ;)
Fantastic attention to detail and I like how you mix up the techniques!
best car of choice for a drift build, skylines were basicly made for drift, also thanks for showing the wheel design process
Yeah, there are awd drift cars out there, i mean, there more of a like resort to if rwd doesn't work, they are out there
The GTS is a great drift car, the GT-R... It would be a bit of a waste.
Zambie Gamz awd = power slide, rwd = drift
Whahahah GTSlide GTRace so you will know the diffrence m8.
Just get a GTT or GTS And Rebadge it then you got yourself a gtr That can drift
Just discovered this through recommended videos. I was thinking about buying an actual model and doing clay sculpting to widen it, since I can't find a kit that I like for the real vehicle; but now I'm considering doing cad modeling and getting it printed out.
Just found your channel!
In this video you made my dream car!
Loved it!
Subscribed!!
Bigger wheels and lower profile tyres will look good
HEKTIC458 rice rice baby
luis sandoval do you even know what rice means?
he is probably that kind of guy who thinks that everything related to cosmetics and cars is rice, thats why his car doesnt have any paint, its too rici for him lol
your profile picture is rice, because it's painted red.
ty anastasio fuq u got me bruh!
Great job keen to see more. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My favorite rc youtuber
Show more of the designing process you've got my sub!
Great work
You sound like David Freiberger! Nice work on the Skyline. Getting ready to work on some 8th scale wheels for my MT so this was definitely useful info. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed, good luck with those wheels. 👍
Oo===oO Awsome Zilla Build!
Oo===oO Squad-Zilla!
Genius mate good work!!!!
Beautiful job!
loving the music choice on these videos, keep it up!
R34 is coming together 😍
This reminded me of using AutoCAD back in high school
This is art.
Very good!
The day we will be able to do this with our minds, is the day we will all be happy. The coding and the autodesk cad that is.
Sick work bro
I've printed multiple RC drift bodies and I always use ABS then smooth it with acetone. It works much better than PLA but anyways great video!!
were do you find the files for the bodies
It’s easiest to find an existing model of a car then in your slicer, for example cura. You can make it so it only prints the outer walls and then prints support inside. I’ll probably leave another comment later with a file for you, I’ll make one for you. What car would you like?
Mac Witt A 1996 Mazda please
Mac Witt do you take alot of pictures of the car with a camera and then use a software to make it in to a stl file.
A miata???
Lol it must have been difficult to get a diffuse for a R34 , but I must say loving your design
If only I could print a set of TE37Vs for my real cars, someday
Size increase is a good call but if its a rear wheel drive build (basically a GTS) you want to put grip tires on the front so you can control it better, btw im new here and loving the videos
It's funn that americans never really see skyline's but here in New Zealand there like daily drivers! I saw 82 R32 skylines one day.
p.s sorry to flex
p.s also sory for writing that
p.s IM SORRY :)
:(
I love watching your videos
First I apply paint in aerosol and immediately varnish in aerosol too, this technique works very good. No sanding is required if the print is good.
Nice, I do some 3d modeling as well, started with solidworks though and just kept going with it, pretty accurate, wish i had a 3d printer
I am right now on second 21 and I have subbed! Cars + 3D Printing = Absolute Perfection :) And did you use Fusion for the body as well?
Thank you for the subscription. I used Blender for the body.
You are amazing ❤
Oh look, what it is, it's my like))
Dude your skill is amazing
Very awesone
Not bad for a 3d printed model👌
Very nice build. If you want a better panel scriber use a 0.7 mm mechanical pencil with a sewing needle that fits in place of the lead. It works pretty good for me
Great idea, might try that some time.
Good vid 👍🏻
Hey, when you made the wheels, you don't have to redesign them, you can just sand the edges, and that will get you a decent curve. Keep it up!
i know this request might look really difficult and dumb, but you should add opening parts (hood, trunk, maybe doors), and and engine (just a plastic cover to cover up possible steering servos), and an actual trunk space. thanks for reading!
Another great vid done. Thanks for more on the Cad Designing. Now, How about a 360 view of your shop/work area? :-)
Thank you! My work area is a wreck XD so probable no 360 view anytime soon.
I love your videos
man you're godlike
keep it up u definetly deserve more
Great video man I didn't know it was even possible to 3D print a car anyways keep up the good work man
First video i watched from you. You are so good at this
this is my favorite car i love ur videos man
Man I wish I had skills like that in fusion 360, seems like everything I try to do it has some error and fails.
Im blown away watching your design skill. I think itd be so cool to thoroughly learn 3d design, are there any good in depth videos teaching this from novice to pro?
13:26 The wheels are perfect
May I suggest working on a knife-safe craft surface when working with polystyrene. You will achieve finer cuts and better control than your cork or particle board. Plus, most craft boards have rulers built in perfect for scale measurements. Enjoy your creativity and technical know-how.
Nice job , one day 3d printers will be able to make small pieces with accuracy . I only customize 1/64 scale so all of this looks incredibly easy since there's a lot of wiggle room
Best music for this VID so good
I love this and the firebird build but an idea could be make the rims bigger and less or a tire profile
That’s Dope! Keep it up! And Did you put 3D Printed RB26 Engine?
I see a R34, I upvote
wow thats awesome! did you also design the skyline body as well? would love to some of that in future videos. great work!
Heyy there [FULLNAME]!! I'm inspired by your photos😊
Uh ok [FULLNAME]
I dont norm comment but the candle smelt nice🤣🤣🤣
When you design the chassis for the Skyline you should add an exhaust underneath and connect it the the exhaust pipes on the back? thought that would be pretty cool.
cool
Have you considered switching to printing in ABS and then using a acetone vapor bath to smooth it? It would give your plastic a glossier and smoother finish.
Interesting, have you tried using a semi-flex material for the tires instead of PLA?
i'd love to have a 3D printer so i could make stowage and other parts for my 1/35th armor builds.
It would be kind of cool to make widebody kits and deep dish wheels
Dope , I hope youll put the skyline on your website for sale :p.
Wow !
I'm sure you've said in previous vids but what 3d printer do you use? Your vids have me quite interested in being able to make stuff for rc haha, thanks
Nice 🎶 car this cool
Not bad! Im doing something similar... just a bit bigger and Faster... a 1/10 Trophy truck... with 4stroke engine and working disc brakes. Im usi g Fusion 360 to. Perfect programm to make modells.... Thumbs up. And nice to see someone that uses a 3d printer to make a model! Im do this as well, but later im let it made out of Plane aluminium...
Nice designs, do you make your work available for other people to use?
