Thanks for watching. xoxo
If only she loved herself as much as everyone loved her....
If she'd been allowed to remain behind her drum kit where she felt safe and happy, the story would have been different. It was decided by the record company that she needed to be "out front" since she was such a wonderful singer. She was a musician.
I watched the docudrama about The Carpenter's. Richard is the favorite. Karen the afterthought. His parents bought him a piano and sent him to college. Unfortunately, mom and dad had little else to give to Karen. She was lucky to get a drum set. Still it made her happy to play music with her big brother. When Karen became the star of The Carpenter's, her parents had a hard time excepting the fact.
@@martyemmons8692 that's the hardest part of being a non-favorite child, glad she never hated her brother..
@@peejaydemira; when I listen to Karen Carpenter's music, I hear who she is. Two of her songs; "Love Is Surrender" and "Mr. Guder", fill me with emotions that I believe are intentionally meant to evoke.
@@Sirala6 yes she was happiest playing drums.
Karen Carpenter’s voice was absolutely beautiful, Makes me cry that she never realized how many people loved her and adored her music.
God gift to us
Isn't that the way it seems to go 😪
And to think 40 years after her death there’s a resurgence in her popularity due to the younger generation discovering her and Richard❤❤
Me too, I'm a little over emotional now, but I keep thinking the same thing. What would Karen think when she saw the outpouring of love and awe at her lovely voice? and she was a phenomenal drummer. Certainly, they were huge in Japan and South America. Many people were fans in the US, too. Can't help but think it would make her very happy to see how she has touched our lives. I'm not expressing myself very well. I have a deep sadness that Karen died so young, partly because the doctors did not know how to help her.
I’m a grown man and she can make me cry. Is something wrong with me? Her voice is so beautiful.
Nothing wrong with you at all. Same thing here. She was an angel and her voice brought out her own pain on songs like this.
You have a heart
one of the greatest female voices ever, nothing wrong with you
She makes everyone weep. You're normal.
No I'm 71 and I tear up every time.
Karen Carpenter had the best female voice in the world.
Agreed - just beautiful.
In my opinion Karen Carpenter 🥰🤗> The Greatest Female singing voice 🎤 🎶 ....ever ! “Silky Velvety Silk “ 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Along with Linda Ronstadt.
@@raymcnulty5252 No Karen is supreme...Linda is great but not in Karen's league!
Very pure, clear voice but not on a Sarah Vaughn or Phyllis Hyman level. Perhaps one of the best white female voices I've heard in pop music tbh...
Even after almost 50 years...Karen tears me EVERY time she sings! Most beautiful singer/vocalist of all-time!!
Absolutely! I don't hear this on SiriusXM, so I was happy to come across this video. I definitely have time to listen to The Carpenter's.
The most beautiful female voice ever.
Pitch Perfect.
Wish she realized how much people love her-
Even almost 50 years later.
The harmonica along side Karen’s deep rich voice will slay anybody. We allowed sadness in our music back then and it was sooo therapeutic. It made you feel like you weren’t alone.
Karen Carpenter had the whole package...genuine musical talent, class, and charisma.
When people who couldn't sing ... didn't
🙌🙌🙌
She really had no idea how beautiful and incredible she was. So sad she was struggling so much. Her voice is the best I’ve ever heard
She is my favorite singer ever and I grew up listening to their music in the 70s and 80s and she is still my favorite. She's special ❤🌈
Very special ❤️
Karen was an amazing singer, musician and soul. We lost her way too early, thank you for playing this.
I grew up listening to the Carpenters. They were an incredible duo -- brother and sister -- who a talent for feel good music. 40 years later their music plays on around the world.
She was a percussionist first. It was her preferred performance tool.
There was a time when beautiful songs like this were being sung. But that was another world. Lovely reaction my dear.
The best voice of my childhood. I was young then but her voice was all over am radio. I was too young to appreciate it then but now that I’m older RIP Karen
Well said, me too, even though I was very young her voice had a big impact on me, I was always proud to share her name
The song is actually about depression. When you realize that and listen to the song again, it's quite sobering and sad. Given that it's the holidays, you should sample Merry Christmas Darling. It's a Carpenters classic that is played everytime Christmas rolls around.
yea and if you listen you can clearly hear her struggles and the deep sadness she felt through out her life.
Beautiful person and beautiful voice. Like glass and maple syrup. Her voice conveys such emotional pain and sorrow, even with her pitch perfect sound.
Hello I am a 63 year old musician who is playing well I'm in my 49th year I started playing clubs when I was 14 and I'm still playing plan every week. I learned a lot about songs and what's more I used to just listen tool on the radio every time I heard Karen Carpenter's voice I wanted to cry and swelled up inside. And I watched you do that and it's beautiful I love seeing people getting to enjoy really enjoy something that was Put out long before you were ever here so you've made my day out of all the videos I've watched today watching your face watch this song thank you
Karen had such a lovely voice and with the back ground harmonies of her brother and members of the group hasn't been replicated to this day, The World lost something very special and that was Karen Carpenter. We will always love you and your songs which are timeless. RIP
Always brings a tear to my eyes. Knowing her mental health was not detected/treated only makes her death more senseless. She was loved the world over by MILLIONS and yet she felt so alone 😭😭😭😭
It doesn't get any better than this.her voice is pure perfection.crystal clear, smooth, strong, soft, dynamic, incredible range....did I miss anything?
Its was a beautifully sad song..Karen carpenter is the only singer I know can sing a sad song but make you smile..thanks beautiful for the song
Such a pure voice. What a beautiful young lady she was. Nice to see the joy she still brings to new fans. It was cool to see your excitement at seeing her at her drums. ✌
Simply the best female vocalist of all time. As a kid always had a crush on her.
Karen not only had the best voice, she also knew how to use it better than anyone I have ever heard, still. She knew when to ramp it up and when to dial it back. So happy to have been a kid in the 1970s and listen as the songs came out.
Baby Girl, your face just lights up when you hear a great song .
She had the most beautiful voice of any artist ever.
Your reaction to The Carpenters “Rainy Days on Monday “ was beautiful! Your reaction was so pure and fun to watch.
The Carpenters were the first band that I have went and seen....I liked all of the "easy listening" songs like Barry Manilow...Phil Collins...and soooo many more!.....I lived in the 70's!!....As far as I am concerned the BEST DECADE EVER!!!
Karen had one of the most unique voices at the time...so full and rich...she was lost to us way to soon...
Karens music affects me in more ways than one. .When I was younger in the 1970s, I met a beautiful, sweet female piano player/singer at my local Holiday Inn bar. She was attracted to me and I to her. I would sit opposite her at the piano while she would sing her Carpenter songs directly to me. We spent our free time together in my home town until (sadly) she had to move on to another Holiday Inn gig for a week or two. Those songs really take me back to her sweetness and Love. I hope you have had a great life Shirley. .wherever you are. I haven't forgotten you. Peace. Thanks for reviewing this music, Mo.
Karen Carpenter was all alone at the top of all American female singers. She still is # 1 of all time - probably always will be. I didn't see how any voice and tenderness could ever equal her. Seems like right from Heaven.
An angel who touched the hearts of many people on this earth and forever will be irreplaceable. Miss you so much rest in peace Karen carpenter. You left this world too soon but your lovely velvety contralto voice never will
She had such a beautiful soul, I wish someone around her would of seen what was happening. God bless Karen!
Simply the best female singer I've ever heard, period!
There’s not many singers as they start to sing either gives you goose bumps or makes you wanna cry. Karen Carpenter has the ability to do both, best female singer bar none RIP KAREN you left us way to early xx
Karen's literally melts your heart/what is that she never.sanged out of key her voice was one of the best that i've ever heard.
Karen Carpenter is my Favorite Female singer of all time!!! And, she was a Fantastic Drummer...Incredible Talent!!!
So solid, so real, a vocal genius. Karen knocked it effortlessly out of the park over and over.
My god ..perfect pitch, and pure magic...her voice is like what you would hear In a beautiful dream...and it drips with her emotions...I hope she realizes now that she's left this brutal world, how much beauty she left behind, and the impact she made on so many.
This song didn't nearly challenge her drumming skills. Great voice RIP Karen. Wonderful reaction, happy holidays to you and yours.
Keep in mind that Hal Blaine was playing drums on the recording.
@@albertbrown7941 She was still an excellent drummer though.
@@jimeiden2360 Absolutely, and she could read music. The thought was (by who, I do not know-either the record label, or her control freak brother) that she could not handle the dynamics needed for the studio. Blaine could handle it in his sleep, and that would leave Karen to focus on singing.
@@albertbrown7941 Blaine was THE MAN back then.
This my favorite Carpenters song because of the line "what I feel has come and gone before". She's felt the blues before but she's going to get over it. This is how I like to think of her, not the doomed Karen or victim Karen that some of her fans fixate on.
Yes good point
I've listened to the Carpenters since birth. Their music was basically the theme to my childhood. When I was a small boy I thought "Close to You" was about me.
Yet I didn't know until today that Karen Carpenter played the drums.
Simply put her voice was a gift to the world from GOD almighty and everything she is newly appreciated its like a gift that keeps giving.
Loved your reaction to this one, Mo! Karen was an unbelievable talent, and as perfect and pure as her voice is I believe she considered herself a drummer first and a singer second. Of course she left us far too soon, but at least we have the gift of her music to sustain us on Rainy Days and Mondays!
If I could have any artist back, it would be Karen Carpenter! No two ways about it! Best voice ever! Just imagine the music she could have given this world! I am sure I will never hear a more angelic voice in my lifetime. She left us way too early. But heaven needed her more than us apparently. We can never 2nd guess God's plan for anyone. We can only enjoy them and let them know how much we love them while they are here. R.I.P. Karen. No doubt that you are in God's beautiful choir now!
One of the worlds best voices. No autotune, just pureness. Nuf said
She had an amazing voice and he was an excellent arranger and producer. We lost her far too young. So sad.
Not to mention her being an accomplished and highly talented percussionist...

Can you imagine her looking down from heaven and smiling knowing how much you liked her song that says it all.
I always feel like crying when I hear The Carpenters. What a voice. If you haven't, watch the PBS special about them. Available online . So nice that young people still can discover them.
There are many notable female vocalists, but Karen's voice seems to take you by the hand and heart, leading you instantly to a special feeling of sadness and joy.
She was both an amazing drummer as well as a singer. She could do both simultaneously without missing a beat or a note.
No question Karen was a rare and amazing talent. You make it even better with your reactions. Your amazing soul just shines through that beautiful smile with pure joy. Thank you for being a bright ray of sunshine.
I grew up in this era & the early to mid 60's & we had the best of times & the bands & music reinstated this. The Carpenters were just one of those bands that I loved & we had the best music back then. She was pure perfection & we'll never have another like her, she was one of a kind.
Her voice will cut you to the heart. There will always only be ONE Karen Carpenter.
It's amazing how much joy and beauty she created with/through her terrible pain...angelic ...I love you, and the emotion you obviously feel from the music. Keep it up
Her voice was beautiful and sad at the same time
I love to hear the Carpenters ! Caren has a voice as an Angel. This music is So easy. Thanks for your wonderful choice ! You look so fresh to day , I love it !
Love from Holland 🇳🇱🙋🏼♂️💐😘
Thank you 🥰🥰
Close to You is beautiful and was our song at our wedding in 1973. 😌
Awww🥰
RIP Karen, you are still loved and missed so much.
This was a great song to react to and fun to watch your emotions as you watch and see your nice smile.
Thank you!😊❤️
She was an Angel given to us for a short time, her music lives on forever. I’m waiting for the time I can listen to her sing & not cry. Not many artists can sing with pure emotion!
Morenikeji Taiwo, thank you for your unguarded reaction to the sheer perfection and incomparable beauty of Karen Carpenter and the Carpenter's performance of "Rainy Days and Mondays". Karen stands above all the rest in her ability to reach deep into our hearts and minds and remain there for a lifetime. It is a privilege to hear she and Richard's music.
The Carpenters were one of the few acts in the 70s that both my generation and my parents' generation liked. My mother took my siblings and I to see them in 1974. Karen was 24. I was 14. When she started to sing I was sure I was in love!
Karen was been my favorite female singer since I was a kid in the 70's. She still amazes me today in beautiful her voice was.
Manly tears again for this song.. been waiting for ya to react to this one.. so timeless.. one of the best voices i'd ever heard..
Karen had the voice of an angel and now she is one for real. Although we all miss her so much when she sadly left us, Heaven had to be smiling to receive her.
“Talkin’ to myself and feelin’ old…” 🎶🎵🎼
I can clearly and vividly remember the first time I heard this song. It was a few years after it was released. I listened to it on an old cassette player deck around 1976. Listening to Karen singing that first verse put a chill down my spine… but in such a beautiful way.
Listening to her voice is like hearing the angels sing. 👼🧚🏼♀️🧚🧚♂️🎵🎼🎶
There isn`t much in this world that can move one as much as Karen`s voice.........Bless you.
Karen has the ability not only to sing a song but to tell the story behind the song. A true gift
Her voice is one in a million, miss her voice so much...😍
She had the voice of an Angel 😇 💗 and Richard's arrangements were phenomenal
Karen is the best.. Yesterday Once More is a terrific song, if you like a sentimental journey. Take Care Morenikeji.
Really great reaction video! Thank you for your love that you showed for Karen! She’s my all-time favorite singer! I still miss her to this day! ❤️
Voice of an angel.
The world needs that beautiful voice again. I miss her. ♥️
Quite simply one of the most beautiful singing voices ever. Not valued by those she loved. RIP Karen
One of a kind voice...so sad when she passed..that song really hit you hard, great music does that...great reaction. As a drummer I appreciate her musicianship.
Know I am a grown man and her voice can make me cry. That's the spirituality and ethereal beauty of Karen,'s voice. ❤❤❤❤❤
The wedding song of the 70’s and 80’s and maybe more was We’ve Only Just Begun. It’s by writer Paul Williams, a short version was made for Crocker Bank in California, for a TV commercial. Richard saw it and contacted Paul for a full version and the rest is history. React to it soon… ❤️
Very rare to see a woman singing lead and playing drums. Love her. Such a beautiful voice.
The Warning have that, though she’s not the main lead singer and not in the same class as Karen vocally. But then few are. 😊
My all-time favorite Karen Carpenter thanks for listening to her
Perfection, had the pleasure in seeing the Carpenters in 76 amazing night with my Mum
To see your reaction Has brang me great joy. She was a very accomplished drummer and musician. And the entire family are remarkable. Do not believe the sadness and hype associated with her life and passing. She was a joyous and happy person in reality. One that would always have a smile, and give hugs and positivity to anyone she met.
Every time they had a hit song they would buy another apartment building with their earnings, in Downey, California. Their parents would oversee and manage them. It was fantastic to drive down a street and see the apartments named after the song with it displayed in beautiful lettering on the front. "We've only just begun" is one of my favorites.
You see,... I might just know a little about it & them.... As I worked for them back then. In fact... She gave me this name "Rag Tie" long ago. Such a beautiful spirit and wonderful person. As is the rest of her family.
Karen Carpenter had a voice that would just melt your heart. I remember my mother back in the day listening to The Carpenters. You need to listen to the lady by the name of Anne Murray.
You are a beautiful young lady that found a pure voice God bless
She left us to early but iam so grateful of her music she left us. Thank you my dear for playing this One.
What more can be said the best singer in American history
Karen's voice is so beautiful, the angels try and imitate it.
Karen Carpenter the most beautiful voice she never had to hit the high note she can make the devil cry.
As a 55-year-old, I want to personally thank you and the many other reaction video young people for listening to these songs and not laughing or making fun of them. I know it's not like what you listen to now, but it was good music and was important to us -- still is. You seem like you genuinely like it! And for that I'm grateful. :)
Thank you! So many reactors just buzz by the first shot of her drumming, but I always think that's a shocking moment...my goodness, she drums TOO?!!...WHILE SINGING?!!! Yes, I love that moment. What you may not know is that she started out drumming in high school and then started singing when they began making music for records. They had to convince her to step away from the drums, eventually, because she was such a phenomenal singer people wanted to see her out front. Very nice reaction!
Karen was like Sohyang today. Astonishing at first, then emotional because you realize it's really happening and and it's really that beautiful. ♥️
Lovely song sung by an angel and reacted to by an angel. 😊
She was America's angel. And then she was gone. When I was a kid. I still think she was born with a tear in her voice.
Yes you are our baby girl and that was a wonderful reaction to the Carpenters thank you sweet heart!!!
“dowwwwwn” always kills me, deep and so resonant like a bow slowly running across a string
I was a big fan of Karen's and the Carpenters in the 70s, but it wasn't until I saw one of their TV specials in the late 70s that I learned she was a talented drummer. It's great to see her playing in this video!
First time I heard The Carpenters was about 1973 when I seven. It was their song "Top of the World' and I've been a fan ever since. I still watch videos of them on CZcams almost daily.
Karen Carpenter was a great drummer! "We've Only Just Begun" is a great Carpenters song for a wedding! My friends and I used to have a vocal group. We sang that song at a number of weddings. That instrument was a harmonica.
