    Kind of digging this one. The alternate version of the Rustic Gent!! Thank you for sharing!!

      I just wish the double detent system was a little stronger because you can’t really put your thumb on top of the blade without breaking the detent. It’s definitely a stunning looking knife though

    I got just grabbed the olive green after seeing this. I wanted something in micarta, something kinda traditional, and S35VN to boot.
    The only thing to remember is that a pinch grip is going to be your best friend. Obviously if you are cutting something then you aren't worrying about it collapsing, but it's definitely important to remember that it can close.

  • @matthewharris7373
    @matthewharris7373 Před 3 lety

    Probably gonna grab one of these eventually. But honestly, I wish they would’ve used 9Cr18MoV and kept the price down closer to the $50-60 range. I’ve always loved the look of the Rustic Gent, I just don’t tend to carry knives without a clip as much so never picked one up. But now that they added a clip and made it a flipper it’s almost perfect. Just wish it was a little cheaper. But that’s just me. Thanks for sharing brother. 👍🤘

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  Před 3 lety

      Yeah it’s also kinda strange making a Civivi branded knife that’s over there normal price range because that’s what they have the WE brand for 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @esoteric5277
    @esoteric5277 Před 3 lety

    Hope Civivi will give us the option of buying a Rustic Gent with a pocketclip and perhaps a steel upgrade. As a 'slipjoint' with just the ballsey detent this really should have a forward finger choil, but then that would ruin the looks of this blade😝 Thanks for the review though!

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  Před 3 lety

    • @Stassa23

  • @NighthawkEnforcer
    @NighthawkEnforcer Před 3 lety

    That blade shape, nice pointy clip point, mixed with that not so strong double detent just begs to bite me sooner or later. I think if it had a sheepsfoot blade would make me use it differently and not seem like it wants to bite be as bad.

  • @Stahlwerk88
    @Stahlwerk88 Před 3 lety

    Action seems pretty ace. I love the finish on the blade; wish the finish on the micarta was as nicely done... Still, not a deal breaker by any means.

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  Před 3 lety

      Yeah the finish on the scales isn’t that big of a deal, a little oil can pretty much take care of it

  • @Abby_Normal_1969
    @Abby_Normal_1969 Před 3 lety

    Not sure if I am going to get one or not. I am intrigued. I thought Civivi's first foray in to S35VN was a home run (I would expect so given how much S35VN WE uses). And until very recently, the Rustic Gent has been my favorite Civivi. While not identical, the Drifter has similar lines to the Rustic Gent, particularly the blade. Interesting...

    • @Stassa23

      @@Stassa23 - yeah. I get the feeling that they wanted to get into the slipjoint game to get into markets where locking knives are illegal. And just saying locking knives and illegal in the same sentence makes my blood sugar spike.

    I enjoy your reviews, regardless of how you do them. I think single knife reviews might gain a bit more traffic if you could compare the knife in the review to something else you have similar that is a tried and true knife already on the market. For instance, when giving the review on this one, incorporate some comparisons to an existing slip joint you already have. Don't make it like a shoot out or something but comparing it to another knife which you mention in the video title might draw some more interest and views.

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  Před 3 lety +1

      I like it however it’s kinda hard to use because it’s easy to break the detent that holds it open and there is nothing blocking the blade from closing on your fingers. I may increase the detent pressure on mine to see how much that helps 👍🏻

      The green canvas Micarta is still the lower quality stuff coming from China. I wish they all outsourced there Micarta from the US like CJRB does. If you ever want some nice Micarta get a CJRB Ria, Feldspar or the Centros in green canvas Micarta they all look great and feel nice as well

      And while we’re on the subject, China has no problem using our US steel or G10. Wonder why they choose to not use our Micarta. It’s either too expensive for them or they can make their own super cheap. I’m going with the latter till I hear differently.

    Your example is certainly less than stellar. Box it up & send it back for exchange. This is a perfect example why I ALWAYS request ALL dealers/sites to QC the knife for centering as well as OVERALL fit & finish prior to shipping which a good dealer will do regardless of clear seal stickers on the packaging.. KC falls extremely short in their abilities to see a transaction through from start to finish, finish being "customers complete satisfaction." This was a FAIL...

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I always write in the notes for them to check the knife for any QC defects , blade grinds , solid lockup and a centered blade. I would say they check it out about 50% of the time. I just put a dab of oil on the dry spot and it totally fixed the problem 👍🏻
