While there are several different sailing channels that offer just as interesting and compelling a story as yours, none tell them with the same kind of grace and skill. It's clear that you value the way you tell your story just as much, if not more, than the story itself. Choice of music, shot selection, and narration all seamlessly come together to provide your viewer with this rich experience. It is not lost on me how much work it must take to make your videos look like like they take no work at all.
In a world as confused and difficult as the one we all find ourselves living in today, your channel provides a much needed respite and shows how "simple" life can really be.
Boy I’ll second that. Very, poetic and descriptive
@@davelemieux6144 I'll third it
Thyborøn, pressure on last syllable. ;-) A thybo is a resident of Thy, a place north of the Limfjord. A røn is some kind of land, not excactly an island but rather close, or it might mean small house/village. Nice video. First to comment, hurra.
Interesting. Being Spanish I thought it meant shark. As it does for us. (Spelled Tiburón) That fact, made me think those markers or memorials were shark fins. Themed accordingly to the name I mistakenly thought was the same. It seemed to fit with the whimsical buildings. Whose roofs were fashioned to look like the hull of an upside down boat. Thank you for the lesson.
I wonder why most of the time, true, honest, and humanly channels are not as popular.
The moment I get close to the answer, I block my thoughts, as they tend to darkness.
Regardless I keep moving, following you and alike, and hopping for better universal future.
Fair winds, keep up. Love you both!
Poetry in motion as always.
You two have an extraordinary filming ability to make us viewers feel as crew or friends on board MC1, sharing sailing experiences, refitting works, visiting interesting places, feeling the same emotions, sharing joys, fears, friendship... Thank you for your generous hospitality. Ciao, B.V.
You are gifted in this special way of sharing sailing life. Artistic excellence is all ways a treat. Highest Blessings
That final shot of Magic Carpet from the dock really shows the shine of the varnish and deck paint. The boat looks beautiful.
Used to do long passages with my 25ft folkboat, in the Baltic Sea. So the movement in a small boat for days on end, and not being able to shower during that time are still remembered as not the nicest parts of a sailing adventure. But it was fun, and I´m very glad that I have all those memories. Great adventure to follow this, and make the most of all sailing possibilities as long as you are young because time passes quickly. So glad that I found your channel, this is the one to follow this coming winter.
I just put a comment on today that I had a Contessa 26 ( a plastic Folkboat) I had a Folkboat before her, East German and very basically equipped. I pretty much taught myself to sail in her on the West Coast of Scotland. I know how you feel as I was seventy this year and I fear next year will be my last year sailing. I sail a plastic French boat now with all the mod cons but she will never have the place in my heart that my little Contessa has. My hips are letting me down now even with one being titanium. Good luck and enjoy the memories.
I (74 yr old) agree completely........ Enjoy the adventure!
It's good to get back to Maya's musical choices. It's like a music appreciation class. Thank you!
Thank you so much for mentioning Denmark a small country but has so much sailing history and I really appreciate you took a time to make a video out of it
Spoken from a Danes 🇩🇰
that beautiful smal country is 5 times bigger than where her ancestors came from… 😏 farwel! spoken from a Dutch guy 🇳🇱
What a wonderful video! I live my sailing life vicariously through you. The narration and videography is so nicely woven into a great story. Maya I miss your violin solo at the end. You have to be the happiest couple on the open ocean. Fair winds and following seas. Rob
Thank you so much Rob, we really appreciate the kind words!
Sheesh even your seasick videos are fun, well written, beautifully filmed, and have lovely music. My favorite sailing channel by far!
Thank you so much Rory, that means a lot to us!
Dear Rory.
👍👌👏 Well said, Sir, well said indeed. I wanted to comment similar but fortunately you already did all the writing work. 😁 ;-)
Best regards, luck and health.
The Magic Carpet channel flourishes while cruising. It's such a pleasure to share the travels vicariously with Aladino and Maya.
Many thanks to Maya and Aladino, who find the way to keep bringing us big breaths of fresh air, now with a sweet Scandinavian flavor.
I remember the interesting habits of a Cal 20 between Southern California and the Channel Islands. Call it empathy.
Great content! Many thanks.
You guys make me miss my old vintage McGregor 25, Martini Time. Though we only piddled around Lake Guntersville with it, your videos open the dreams of possibilities of adventures! I enjoy every minute! Hopeless romantic and kindred spirit here in the dirty South ;-)
Wow, those old ships were amazing to see. Especially Thalasa.
Kirsten is doing great on the Cape George in the GGR.
Yes, and as the only woman in the race, we are cheering her on. A few of her fellow race participants have acknowledged that Kirsten's choice of the Cape George 36 may just give her an edge in speed over most of the other boats in this race. Kirsten took her time in choosing this particular make and model: Maya and Aladino will smile knowingly...
Meanwhile I really can relate to the anoyance when handstearing only by compass or wind indicator ... on one of my last night passages I could use the stars as orientation points ... so much better than the compass 😀
Really enjoyed the music during this weeks video.... Keep sailin.... John and Penny.... Ontario, Canada....
What a man Nicho Hynes!!!A well mannered, humble man! His speech shows why he is now up there! Because of knowing who he is and those that has been there for him!!!One that some people forget when getting to their destination.Wishing you Nicho all the best in the future, you legend
Wow beautiful safe harbor and lovely scenery. 👍👍👍⛵️⛵️💕
Thanks for watching and commenting Kathleen :)
First big sail of the year always takes some getting used to :-)
Always wait for your posts. They are enchantingly put together high lighted by your glorious command of language. They are precious gems.
Thank you so much Mike, that means a lot
Thank you again and again for these floating poems. Thank you for the lovely violin and thank you for the crispy fish and chips.
I liked the video. I think your narration with your voice is wonderful.
Thank you so much Paul :)
You are getting very good at this. Visually stunning leaving Makkum, together with narrative and editing. It's as if you've reincarnated David Lean as your onboard director.
Wow, thank you so much Tim!! Really, really appreciate your kind words, that means a lot to us :)
I absolutely ADORE the snippet of music in your intro! So very clever!
Maya, your poetic story telling is such a pleasure to listen to and in a world full of stress, both of your gentle souls are a balm to watch and journey alongside.
I have found in my many years of sailing that sometimes the vessel can handle the challenges of a voyage better than the crew.
Thats probably about the truest comment in here. I am taking sailing courses on my 28ft and everytime I go oh crap, the boat just keeps trucking while we hang on for dear life and the instructor is sitting there calmly. He's been sailing for around 60 years and told us that we have a tough old boat and to trust it.
I’m not a sailor but enjoy your current journey. I also enjoy your craftsmanship, patiently waiting to see the finished Magic Carpet II.
About 4.30 in and presented with all those old time sailing craft , thought I saw something resembling a Viking ship , one looked like a tall masted square rig thinking will the Black Pearl sail past with Depp hanging in the rigging.🤔😳😜
Ahhhhhh, how refreshing it is to follow along with you. You are in a lovely part of the world!!🇺🇸🎩🇺🇸
Background music in all of these videos, is so good and well chosen for the certain moments.
My name is Eduardo and I am writing from Ceuta (Spain) in the Strait of Gibraltar, a big hug, I just subscribed to your channel and I found it very authentic, so I'm going to start watching your previous videos and catch up.
In 1956 a hard weather year, a Greek Sailor, Savvas Georgiou with his American wife Su, were crossing (on honeymoon) for first time a 28 feet boat from New York to Athens. They survived a Hurricane and the whole trip was a very hard experience. As I was his student on sailing, I am sure he would not repeat it for second time. Of course during that time the weather could not predicted as happens today but I am sure it will be a hard experience and challenge.
The serious sailing starts when Mayas red beanie makes an appearance.😊
Night watch sounds a lot like being a new parent 😂
Watching closely as we plan to take the same route next summer. Great inspiration, good editing and lovely music!
I like the way you phrased the one with the ocean comment with a wry smile, sometimes there's no beating or denying it.
I need to say that one of the things that drew me to you guys was the occasional playing of music. I can't get enough of that. Now, after getting to know you, I'm drawn to the fact that you two are such sweet people. That said, I miss the music.
The wonderful relatively shallow seas of the North Sea mean that despite its size you don’t get the long ocean swells of the Atlantic Ocean and hence the shorter and nastier wave period.
But you saved so much time over going thru the Keel canal it was worth it …
Cheers Warren
1000 likes. I can't wait to see this part of your guys' journey.
You are doing such a good job editing these videos !!! Je me souviens des canaux en France… je pense que cette série va être aussi bonne ! Merci à vous ! Thanks you so much !!
This was great, so professionally done…..the violin was amazing too!
Particularly noticing and enjoying the music for the segment beginning at 18:08. :0)
In the ‘60s some Englishman sailed across the North Sea in a ‘Wayfarer’ dinghy!❤
You are an excellent story teller and I enjoy sailing along with you on all your adventures. It seems that North Sea in a 28ft boat was a good idea after all.
Looking forward to your canal trip. Your river/canal trip thru Europe was terrific
Your Poetic narration has always brought such solace and comfort....BRILLIANT!
As someone who just moved to the netherlands, for the exact reason you could see in every video from you guys in the past year, it is truly amazing to see these ships time after time
Such a grand adventure captured so well. Love that you are back on the seas!!!!!! Thanks for sharing with us. And can’t wait until MC2 splashes.
I Was very happy with the crossing they made and that they were safe. Greetings from Brazil
hi to you both.
I'm originally from NZ. Live in DK now Arhus. Have just (June 2022) aquired a Najad 390. A go everywhere Blue water.
Your vids are inspiring me to take off and expolr the Baltic.
Glad to see you cross the North sea without too much difficulty! I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! Its nice to see you two sailing😎
Getting a little nostalgic while Im in Odessa, Ukraine watching a video about you sailing in my home country. A little comment regarding watch: My experience is the longer watches, the better. It gives you possiblity to tke care of yourself (personal hygene, eat etc) and get e decent sleep. Rest is always in deficit on a long passage (For me it was often 4-6 weeks without seing land) When I was sailing on a Ocean going Tug boat we had 6h/6h or 8h/4h watches
Magic Carpet 1 is such a beautiful boat. It makes all the sailing that so much more enjoyable. The videos and music are very mesmerizing to the watch and listen to. Thanks!!
Fish and Chips after a long passage……. Heavenly bliss!
I watch several cruiser channels and enjoy yours by far the most. Whether you are working on a boat, talking about a boat or sailing one I look forward to my Friday evenings. Thank you.
A peaceful diversion each week. Much anticipated, always enjoyed.
Wow, you sure did see some tall ships! Thanks for including them.
Somehow, this whole journey together, I had not realized Magic Carpet was only 28 feet - sure looks larger on video.
Such a beautiful narration style, my wife and I look forward to each new episode. The way you both interact and speak is refreshing and delightful. Have been watching from the beginning. Greetings from the Gold Coast Australia.
Lovely both the sailing as well the strings.
Need to get your stings for my offshore time.
A very nautical place with a rough past history, may it stay peaceful.
I liked this one! The sea state looked perfect for your adventure across the North Sea!
The big crabs say go for it!
Beatiful how you edit the videos. It feels so good to watch. I thought drive around the irland Elba with a Kajak is a adventure. Ok it was an adventure for my wife and me. But what you both do, is impressive.
Lovely to be back sailing again .
You had a safe passage. Have some fun, I love watching you. I am saving towards my own boat it seems like forever so watching you guy's is the next best thing.
Looking forward to see you sail the Limfjord. I spent all my summers growing up in Nyköping Mors where my father came from. It’s a very lovely place. Bon voyage ♥️
Well presented lovely warm vocals.
Another beautiful episode! Thank you so much for taking us with you on your journey!
Nice to see you sailing!
Yeah! I did it 2 handed 12 years ago in a 28fter. Big heavy gaffer. Great fun.
For once more, a grateful thanks for the magic you deliver through your icons and music!
Thank you so much for having us aboard! Very magical.
Now this is what we (and you) have all been waiting for. Beautiful sail and a new port.
this is one of the best personal documentation on cruises I've ever seen. Good job. ONE LIFE - LIVE IT
It can feel your excitement for 😀being back to sea. I did some sail when I was younger and enjoy traveling with you on Magic Carpet.
I really love your videos. Mia’s poetic, thoughtful and peaceful narration is mesmerizing. The music you choose is beautiful. Violin music, my favorite.
Thank you so much John, I'm so happy you enjoy the videos, and thank you for taking the time to comment! Just a quick note, my name is actually Maya :)
So great to see you both on the water again, fair winds, flat seas and loads of sun and adventure is all I wish for you special folks
Best narrated sailing channel on CZcams. You guys really separate yourselves by your approach of your calmness and explanation of sailing and life. Thank you for another great Vlog! By the way, what kind of sunglasses are those Maya? Aviators? Revos?
Traveling again…taking all of us along. Thank you for the weekly escape.
I have been so patiently waiting as you work your refits to see you sailing again and to share your adventures. Your channel is fantastic and as a sailor you’re living my dream ❤
Love it traveling with you! Thanks.
Thank you again for a lovely vignette of your travels.
Always a Magic Moment when Magic Carpet shows up.
Thanks for watching and commenting Rick :)
Happy to see you on the move once again. Looking forward to monitoring your travels. 😎❤️
Good job Aladdin and Maya, I am so glad you are back navigating and taking a brake from refitting the sailing magic II after two years I am so happy to enjoy this new big adventure you’re in going to Scandinavia.
Lovely vid! Great work!
We plan to go that way in two years on our trawler. We can’t wait as it looks amazing.
great story telling, thank you. Keep them coming.
Really lovely stuff. Immaculate vibes. A great Friday watch and a beautifully told story. Big love.
