I've used a ton of knives and this last year I learned the Ontario SK5 is one of the best knives I've used. When I first used it I sold it off I didn't even give it a chance but ended up buying one again for only $86 a year or so ago . I have become a fan of full flats with a convex edge it cuts so good and has a lot of blade control.
The handles actually don't bother me anymore and I now favor knives with a more slim design. I keep a good small Puukko neck knife for my carving which is a nice handle with good palm swell and high carbon blade.
I know its an old Scandi from Europe it has no markings but has a foller or "blood groove" I've never seen such a little scandi with a groove?? I wish I could find out who the maker was cause its amazing. It originally had a very plain to y rounded off square handle about two and a half to three inches and under an inch thick. I ended up making my own handle and puulko sheath my first go at it and it turned out amazing .
Someone told me a good puukko sheath actually sucks the knife in right as it locks in and that's what it does 😁 I'm very pleased with the outcome. Anyways if you know of any blade makers that used small blood grooves in a 3 inch puukko blade let me know....the steel is very good its the only knife my wife can use in the kitchen that isn't full of dings when I get it back 😂
It also gets a slight toothy edge its wicked good at cutting meat and swoops up like a bowie tip instead of being a flat spine. Wish I could send you a picture of it cause I love it that much its very special to me. I've made many little puukko blades from Lauri to Mora and Brisa but its different.
