Sad to see Oldham exit the Football League. Great club, history and fans. Hope you’re back soon. Derby fan in Oz.

16 goals in the 3 semi final games including the replay 16 different goal scorers, I remember it like it was yesterday.

The greatest FA Cup semi final day bar none. Liverpool suffer a shock exit in a absolute classic then this brilliant encounter. Say this as an Everton fan.

At 2-2, when Barry Davies says "What an amazing day this is!", he's referring to the fact that earlier in the day, Crystal Palace had beaten Liverpool 4-3 in another fantastic game. Both live on BBC.

Matt Colley nah it means fuck all which is a bit of a shame cos it used to be huge. Still nice to win I’m sure but we all know that teams couldn’t really care less when they get knocked out. These days it’s probably entirely possible that if a manager is having a horrendous season in the league, even winning the cup mightn’t save his job..

Agreed, Robert. This was the greatest ever FA Cup semi-final day. Because, before this, the semi-finals never live on TV, and not long after this, they started being on separate days.

It cannot be overstated how the results of a couple of games would determine the course of history for the next two decades. If Oldham had won this Alex Ferguson would not have been the united manager at the start of the 90/91 season. Think about that

The 3 main games of this year's FA Cup were the most exciting of any era... 4-3 (Palace v Liverpool) and this straight after! Followed by the Cup Final... The most exciting Cup Final only ran close by ECL (2005) and this month's CRAZY World Cup Final.

Liverpool strolled to the title after the hillsborough disaster, even as an Evertonian, they were the best side by a mile. Oldham had two cup runs on the back of a plastic pitch. Don't care what anyone says, you play and train on that surface everyday it gives that team a huge advantage.

The benefits of a plastic pitch. Utd got Irwin and we took Milligan - he was absolute garbage for us. Like Blackburn, all the fans coming out of the woodwork when they did OK for a few years. Which club has the least fans now? Like Luton and QPR when they had to play on grass they soon disappeared.
