The Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611 is an iconic locomotive, owned by the Virginia Museum of Transportation, but a frequent visitor to the N.C. Transportation Museum. Few people have had as long or as close of a relationship with this awesome streamliner steam locomotive as Sandy Alexander. He provides the 611's history, his own experiences with the engine, and some of the things he thinks makes the 611 so popular among rail fans.

611 Rocks!
Amazing👍
My favorite locomotive, can't wait till the museum reopens again so I can see her 😊😊
I remember when that engine used to come behind my house in Chesapeake. It was an awesome watching that thing go by as a kid
We railfans need to visit you guys
The Norfolk Western 611 is no longer at the NC Transportation museum. It was there to be repaired and since then, has been moved back to Roanoke. You can go see it at the Virginia transportation museum.
Excellent thank you
I got to go to your museum and see this beautiful locomotive.......the whistle is music to my ears
Very cool!
Woo love 611 at Spencer I got all the n&w 611 stuff
So.... 611 is stuck at your shops until you have the time to send her back to Roanoke?
Basically. It will up to folks at the Virginia Museum of Transportation to coordinate the move back to Roanoke.
Let’s just hope she and 765 run together
I like 611 because I have rode it before
When’s SP #4449 is going to see N.C. Transportation Museum?
Will there be any excursions this year? Or anywhere in the near future?
When will the 21st century steam program return?
When I go to McDaniel College in Westminster, Md and earn a bachelor's degree in Business Management. I will work for Norfolk Southern Corporation as it's President, CEO, and return the 21st Century Steam Program for good by purchasing the N&W 611 & 1218 plus I will use the Roanoke Shops as the new Norfolk Southern Railway Steam Shops and we will also purchase CSX Transportation from CSX Corporation.
That would be amazing if the steam program returned!
Grant Stephens I’m happy for you
@@grantstephens9653 VMT will not let go of 611 and 1218, but you can however bring the funds to them to restore 1218 and allow them to run on your lines.
@@grantstephens9653 You are aware as president you can't just run steam all the time?
611 Looks like He have a face With his hand cables And Small numbers lol (Ur problably not gonna respawn tho)
When’s N&W #611 is going to see TVRM?
She is standard gauge and she will rip the rails.
@@Redwagon2012 The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is a standard gauge operation. They don't have any narrow gauge tracks.
