Can i put in a 97wh battery into my laptop which has the 56wh battery? I have an xps 9550 from years ago and still use it now. I have the 56wh battery and it has 2 hard drives, 2.5inch ssd and a 32gb m.2 ssd which came with the system. Can i use a 97wh battery and put that in place of the 56wh battery if i remove the 2.5inch ssd? I read you can do this with the 84wh battery but what about the 97wh? 6GTPY is the model of the 97wh battery, so if its that model, will it 100% work on the xps 15 9550?
What kind of battery life do you have with the 56whr vs 84whr. I'm actually planning on doing the opposite - installating the 84whr and removing the 2.5 hard drive.

How do you get the pc from displaying "Preparing Automatic Repair"? I installed a 2.5" HDD for additional storage and got this message when I powered up my 5510. Was I supposed to change something in the bios? Thanks.
Did you manage to fix this? It would seem you need to adjust your boot order in your BIOS settings, specifying that "Windows 10" that it finds on your existing M.2 NVMe be up on top, not your new SATA drive.
No change in speeds were noticed, but I admit, I didn't benchmark very carefully either. I'm glad I didn't have to keep begging samsung.com for an RMA!
Hi mate, I performed this mod, added 2tb hdd still with 250gb m.2 left in machine. But when i startup, does not register my hdd in the drives section in my computer, only when i open intel storage app. Do i have to change something in BIOS? thanks
Same problem here, but found that Win 7 needs to be updated to see empty drives.. see here..www.tomshardware.com/forum/6477-63-hard-drive-showing-windows
Great modification, I really respect this kind of personal customization. However, I personally would value the 84wh a lot more than an additional drive - even though I definitely prefer two drives to one (for a multitude of reasons, both in terms of performance and safety). In my own case, with my 5520, I am choosing to keep the large battery but opt instead for installing a permanent SDCARD in the SD bay (which mostly sits unused anyway) and plugging in a usbc ssd (as you demonstrate) for work in a stationary environment (like my office). It is of course not the same as having two ssds in the case, but it allows me the redundancy of multiple drives, isolation of key files from OS, and additional (albeit slower) space that I might need at times.
Victor 2TB M.2 SSD is very expensive bro. This whole upgrade setup is within 200 Dollars, whereas 2TB M.2 is around 700 Dollars - Now you decide. Also with 2.5 ssd you can dual boot hackintosh and windows. Hackintosh causes install problem on NVME SSD. Hope this answers your question
thank you Paul, just what I needed.
A little late on the reply, but thank you, glad it helped!
Very helpfull video. Thank you. In Precision 5520 procedure and kit are the same.
Thank you for this. Really appreciated.
I wonder if you could have flipped the SATA connector to show the Samsung logo.
Thank you, very helpful video, I guess same parts will work for Dell Precision 5540 as well.
Thank you! I had been looking for the disk tray part, no videos I had found had the common sense of sharing that bit of info. ($45 tho? wow)
Do I need to do any changes in BIOS or will it Detect the Drive Automatically

What did you do with the 84wh battery? And where can you order batteries for sell laptops?
May i ask does 8gb ram enough to support nvme ssd and sdd sata port at the same time???
I wanted the replace my 2.5" with a larger battery.
hopefully this works for me

exactly, he must have sacrificed so much of the battery life doing this :) and I also want to do the exact opposite and install the 97 Whr battery
Hi Paul, where did you buy the kit for SSD and Caple. Could you tell me what the product name is?, thank you for your video! :D

My 5530 does not see any ssd. Any bios setup needed?

Actually looking to do the reverse: any reason I can't yank out the drive caddy and put in the bigger battery?
Pros -56wh to 84wh will be providing you extra juice.
Cons - You'll have to compromise hdd storage space
Clean and neat!
any performance improvements noticed?

can drop links where to buy parts? (original parts)
Hello, Is it advisable to replace large battery with smaller one when one has 4K UHD panel?
Good point! I'd say it depends, if you are usually plugged in, it matters less.

The HDD kit is the same for a dell XPS 15 9560?
Not sure, but it probably is.
@@TinkerTry where can I buy that kit? my XPS 15 9570 came with the smaller battery, but I cant find that small sata cable!
Is it possible to change the processor?
Andres Puello C What CPU do you have right now?
Where is the link to purchase the drive kit?

Paul Braren thanks!, I had already found it and I'm now enjoying my second hard drive in my laptop thanks to your help!

+Kevin Chow Helpful, detailed feedback, thanks Kevin!
Why?! Leave the big battery alone and replace the nvme, you can put a 2TB one
Or, two 2TB drives!

also i am taking about 2TB SSHD not SSD
Why in heavens name do you want to replace let alone expand with a 2.5inch SSD if you could do it with a fast m.2 all at once? No really, why.
2.5" HDD will work as well ?
Yes it'll do
After replacing the battery with a smaller one, my laptop is not charging. :(
3rd party (non-Dell) battery? Can you put the original one in? This is all at your own risk, of course.
no need to do all this as we can replace current m2 drive with 2tb 660p drive
That is becoming an affordable choice, correct.
