  • Hello CZcamsrs.
Fujifilm hits the news again with a spectacular firmware update for the FujiFilm X-T2 . I am all the time amazed by the fact that this company treats their customers. They are not afraid at all that they will cannibalize the market of the X-H1 . In my opinion this is a good reason to buy FujiFilm cameras. They are different than other brands . Don`t get me wrong, they are far from being perfect but in the same time they are the best when it comes to firmware update. So FujiFilm .... you succeed to keep me again and convinced me to buy another FujiFilm camera which will be the X-T2 .

No other company does it for free my friend. Fuji releases these updates mostly for adding more and more new features. Other companies do it for their bugs and problems.

It could certainly canibalise other models in the range for sure. You could argue that from a marketing point of view, being known for offering regular value added updates and features encourages people to buy into the system in the first place. Even if such updates to the XT2 put owners off upgrading to the XH-1, the fact is those XT2 owners will remain loyal to the system as a whole and still spend money on lenses. It's actually a very canny move by Fujifilm and it seems to be working well if their sales are anything to go by 😊

maybe they will release the X-T3 and don't want the x-t2 users to jump to x-h1, so when the X-T3 comes it will be a good option for photographers especially with megapixel bump ,not like sony every 6 month new camera and heavy expensive lenses

I am a Fuji user and I love Fuji camera. I appreciate that Fuji is rolling out those superb update which makes the camera getting better and better. But I have just one question. Why all those function were lock before those update? In fact all the so call new features is suppose to be there all the time. For example 4K on X-Pro 2. It actually mean that my X-Pro 2 already capable for 4K shooting when it's launch. Why we need to wait so long for the update to be able to use it. Same case goes to XT2 update.

pierre ch'ng it is a fair question. Because at the end of the day they are a company and they are interested only in selling cameras and lenses. They don't give a damm on you or me. But they are not as bad as the rest of the brands. They have to stay in the competition, but in the same time they don't want to give you too much for your money.
Unfortunately this is the reality of the today's world.

I fully agreed. One more issue i have on Fuji system that is most of it using the same sensor and processor. I am using XT2 and Xpro2 but the feature from XT20 and the XE3 is not much different and it use the same sensor and processor as well. That makes me wonder why am I spending so much extra to buy the higher end model. I might as well wait for the middle end model when they launch the new XT3 this year. Maybe wait for XT30 or XE4. Previously I am using canon camera such as 6D and 5D3. Both unit using different sensor and both function is different. But no matter how. Fuji X series camera is a great camera.

Just think what the X-H1 will be when it reaches version 4.0 of it's updates! I switched from the X-T2 to X-H1 because I like the grip better (still smaller than a FF DSLR), it does have double the processing power of the X-T2 even though the sensor is the same. I do find that at higher ISO's that the quality to me at least feels better than my X-T2 (i.e. 3200 and above) but that is purely subjective and probably a bit biased. When it comes to video, I do think it is better overall plus the IBIS makes a big difference, but I guess you can always buy a gimbal for the X-T2. Also I shoot with old adapted Nikon and Minolta lenses and the IBIS is great for lenses without OIS, well as long as your subjects don't move too much. I did sell my X-T2 for a great price so the upgrade for me at least did not hurt my wallet that much. I do have to say, if it was not for all the fuji glass that I have I would have seriously considered the Sony A7III.

You see that's why I said that FujiFilm a little bit overpriced the X-H1 in my opinion. Especially when you compare with a full frame camera on the same price point. Many Fuji fans got angry on me and called me names but in my opinion they should price that camera for around 1600$. But that is only my opinion. I still think that the X-H1 is a fabulous camera don't get me wrong but they should reduce the price a little bit. Thanks for the honest and good constructive comment.

Atilla, you know Fuji has recalled the last update because of function problems? See here:
