the funniest thing about kullervo is despite being the melee frame he is also the best sniper frame, as using his chaining ability also works for snipers and other single target weapons.

I was using gas on my burston prime already. It works well even on steel path and very well in circuit.
God I still miss old Gas, back before you straight required a grouping ability/armor strip to make it even slightly functional.

@@FrogOnAHorse That was what the / was for, indicating you need grouping OR armor strip, because Gas won't work if you aren't doing one or the other. (And no, just slapping on a bane mod isn't enough to make the actual damage of the gas ticks significant enough, not without an insane Riven and a ton of WF buffs also in the mix.)

Something I'm surprised you didn't mention (or perhaps didn't notice, I had to carefully test to see) is that his 3 is NOT reset on every cast, instead you can cast it as many times as you like until you hit the target cap. That means, as long as you link the two groups together by overlapping one cast onto enemies affected by the other, you can cover SIGNIFICANTLY more range
They mention that in one of his in game tips.
Kullervo is based on Finnish folklore character with same name from Kalevala. A vengeful man who in the end dies remorseful.
His ability storm of ukko propably refers to the folklore god ukko who is the god of storms and sky

I like that Kullervo's spelling isn't that far from "Corvo" from Dishonored, and that his 1st ability is basically Corvo's blink and Collective Curse Emily's ability in Dishonored 2.
Now that I think about that, Corvo is probably also based on Kalevala.

@@torunsmok5890 I have no experience with either, but how about Hate Incarnon? Reaper Prime gets the job done and then some, though, so it's probably kinda whatever even if it is an improvement.
Also, you can just get Reaper Prime passively doing fissures if you're lucky, meanwhile I'm not particularly hyped to farm incarnons besides ones I REALLY want.
@@Gnurklesquimp2 I've made the Hate Incarnnon. Hoo boy, I annihilate steel path. I've twoshot acolytes. And when a friend armor strips them, that turns into a straight-up ONESHOT on Kullervo! So yes, the hate is really neat if you build it right.

@@Gnurklesquimp2 His 2 and 4 build up your combo counter. I also recommend the Naramon path while playing him along with mods like hunter adrenaline (The one that gives you energy when taking health damage) and adaptation. Those two together have helped immensely in maintaining my energy. And since his 2 heals him, I don't have to worry about dying, so long as I am attentive and don't get too careless. Of course, you also want to build some strength, duration, and a bit of efficiency. With the right build, you will deal enough damage to give acolytes PTSD. lmao
Also worth noting that I've managed to hit Boreal's minions' canister things with his 1 while using my Hate. It's a bit inconsistent, but I've hit them.
Collective curse is one of the strongest abilities in the game at that has synergies with so many things.
I've seen a community suggested build from Azninvasions that uses the stored damage dealt at the end of Garuda's blood altar, to then deal damage to other blood altar targets.
This means that the damage can be chained infinitely and if there 2 or more altars receiving damage it can stack infinitely as well.
Still 70k.
I play it with stropha and 280 range to clear rooms 😂 the 3 is to strong.

Kullervo's 1 is his subsume and it pairs well with Voruna's 1 and passive. A ton of melee crit chance and crit damage to completely delete one enemy in specific.
I also subsume kullervos 1 onto Khora, but I subsume over her 3, as as you still keep your cat, you just can’t change it’s mode.
It’s absolutely hilarious because the 300% crit buff works with whipping the strangledome.
It’s even quite easy to solo endo farm arenas with that setup.

Then there's the fact it's arguably one of the best mobility abilities. Even Ash's teleport is underrated a bit, and I always wished it was EXACTLY like this instead, with the melee buff and everything.

My new main! He just clicked with me once i tried him after the rework, and he replaced rhino in every place except index boi. I love the way his overguard daggers work compared to iron skin actually, as while you get a smaller pool of overguard, you can reapply it while under the effects of overguard, unlike ironskin. Makes him better for chip dmg, which is where i go most of the time.
What's wrong with using the augment to blast the enemies around you with the remainder of Rhinos overguard so you can be prepared, and specifically choose when the best time is to go down the checklist of iron skin buffing actions you've gotta execute in order to get any sizeable amount of overguard on him, and you can do it when there are tons of enemies around to attack you, which is of course a necessity as well. Unless I'm missing what your point is exactly, I feel like this serves a very similar purpose.
Oh well though, if you were still using Rhino for everything then imo it was time to move on anyway. There are so many better, stronger, more interesting and fun frames to play out there. The only reason I see to play Rhino still is if you're new and haven't got the tools to maintain the energy pool of a frame that casts more than once every five minutes just to refresh a big shield. Even in this case... For new players... I'd argue Wukong> Rhino.
I'd say this applies to the Index as well... You have a buddy to fight with you, a mobility move that will also full heal you, an OH SH!T button that makes you invincible, then upon your return it gives you 1500 armor for a duration... Lastly you can literally die what is it... Five times? Without losing the 70 points you have spent fifteen mins banking up just because you have 30 health currently and the damn bursa comes out and completely blocks your escape route, knocks your ass down repeatedly.. all while the damn robotic cheetah comes from behind and one shots you because you fail to get out of the roadblock before your shield gate is gone. Every time you die you get a different effect as well, sometimes it's invisibility for like a whole minute or other useful things like that.
Preference is of course a thing, and I respect yours. Wukong is ftw in the index though if ya wanna try him some day.
And that also contributes to your combo counter, which is perfect for Incarnon melee weapons or when you want the most damage out of your heavy attack
@@Anonymys43 Or literally any melee weapon ever, where you're either at 12x for Blood Rush/Weeping Wounds/Gladiator stacks. Or you're getting to 12x for a heavy attack. Unless you're using a glaive of course, in which case you're likely just throwing and exploding.
Collective Curse can link between multiple casts, so you can have 360 coverage if you cast forward, jump behind first enemy then cast backwards and link entire room.

Didn't quite grasp the insanity of Julius Wheezer when I was leveling him, thought he was ok, left it at that, and haven't touched him since.....maybe I should revisit him. Honestly DE has been killing it with frames lately, citrine becoming my new favorite support, voruna's augment making her really fun, stynax funny numbers go brrrrr, and kullervo becoming the new red crit monster.

Welp, there's my motivation to farm the hell out of resources to finish my Kullervo.
I also highly recommend using xoris / glaive prime on him. Overguard is basicaly prime sure footed. You got the range, huge aoe, you don't knock yourself over if you aim too close to yourself.
Also switch his 1's tapcast-holdcast thingy, so you can teleport by tapping 1. You'll still be able to do the teleporting heavy attack too if you aim at an enemy when you tap 1.

Kullervo might be the strongest frame when it comes deleting enemies form the face of the earth, his CC ability is the closes thing we have to a "i win" button and i cant wait for the crazy things people do with him. it also makes me wonder if his passive works with combo multiplying mods and talents, if that is the case then his combo count could stay up for a long time
I've just been using Praedos on Kullervo. The incarnon form attack speed and range and Kullervo's passive make it so that you pretty much have 3 extra mod slots on your weapon and it serves as a really strong generic melee attacker as well. If you really want to go crazy though you pick a zaw with the "deal weapon damage around you on status effect" arcane, as every proc of that arcane per enemy gets shared through collective curse.

Kullervo is my new main, istg, he's just so good in crowded rooms. I was doing an arbitration when two of the squadmates left and the remaining squadmate got downed. I stopped mid-fight, asked if my teammate wanted me to res 'em or extract, and then single-handedly res'd 'em. Kullervo, y'all.
I don't get it? Basically your team narrowed down to two of you, next your buddy went down, then you resurrected him? Was that really the story? In something as low level as an arbitration?

You're being totally sarcastic throughout that entire comment, and I fell right for it didn't I? I can't tell for sure, but I feel like I should feel dumb for taking you seriously here... Right? Obviously you could likely do an arbitration with two people who are using completely modless frames, and you could easily have that same story.
The hardest part would be trying to get the enemies to do enough damage to your buddy in order to knock him down to stage the rescue. I recommend, to spice up the movie, using Nekros and his soul punch aug to instantly bring up a downed ally. It'll look wayyy cooler. Nekros ladies and gentleman.

Even though i dont play anymore the frame looks super cool, but i can't get over how whenever i hear you say his name i just hear Glorbo
he is perfect for leveling melee weapons, he can make any weapon red crit so even with bad mods they're super strong
I would argue even without his overguard Kullervo is far from squishy. After the buffs, his armour and health are exactly the same as Lavos', and he can health tank very well.
Base stats alone don't make you a tank. If that was enough then gating would never have needed to be introduced

Hey Triburos, it's nice getting some new content from ya. Yeah, he's ridiculous and really fun. With how anal DE was at one point about melee being too strong, I was honestly surprised they made a really strong frame based on it. He's badass.

Another thing about Kullervo is his signature shotgun, the Rauta, builds combo count on hits, although it's not the best stat wise. Tenet Livia is also a really good choice for a melee with him, with a paused combo timer while holstered and pretty good crit stats
I struggled with getting to 12x combo counter on Khora when in squads, but this weapon totally fixes that and you can use that new Primary Exhilarate arcane for some pretty good energy regen to boot.
Rauta translated as iron. In Kalevala there is a thing called Tapporauta translated as killing iron. Tapporauta is either a sword, axe or a knife made for killing. Also Rauta is a street slang for a gun.

That arcane requires Impact procs though, unless you have the Livia with an Impact boost I can't see that being the most effective

25 seconds in and I am already cruelly reminded of the meager time we have on this Earth.
For anyone using Kullervo and wanting to feel like an anime character - change the press/hold order on him.
His teleport can now be used on just a press, letting you blink around and trigger the crit buff with ease, and if you aim directly at an enemy, it still triggers the heavy attack version. So you get the best of both worlds.
It even carries across to other frames if you helminth. My Excalibur is the teleporting anime weeb of my dreams now.
He's a lovely strong lad, and makes my favorite melee weapon (incarnon ceram dagger) have a permanent home in a loadout.
I mean I already use it on most frames, but given the absurd combo you can get it to just live at combined with Kullervos entire getup, it just makes it so much better.

Put shade on him and there's your Ash rework. Also, 100% agree range beats melee inherently. There was a time guns struggled to do dmg without some fuckery like buffed triple-dipping faction gas, but even then I was outkilling all the people who insisted melee was perfect cause it has infinite ammo. It's strange, they had a lot of time to ponder on their journey to the next enemy. Don't get me started on radar, so many people neglected this and were slowed down, finally more people have radar now.
The Vampire Survivors music is a good touch, very nice.

10:45 The Anku Incarnon is also great with Kullervo, as one of its second perks is its ability to pause combo duration while it's holstered, and for the guaranteed slash procs on all attacks with successful slide attacks. While it might take a bit longer to build that combo counter, the paused combo timer means you'll only need to build it once.

Honestly kullervo is the only frame i immidiatly started to like aside from limbo and nidus
Also kullervo's 4 is more or less his helminth slot as yes it works well with the part of his passive where it builds combo but due to slow animation its just better to use ensare with range investment and ram into the group ceramic dagger incarnon OR use a gas weapon as it makes gas somewhat viable for the first time in forever aside from zephyr tornadoes
i have used kullervo and hydroid exclusively from kullervos realise with ceramic dagger :D
some interesting thing is if u have tap and hold reversed u can tap to teleport and tap to do the melee (so if u cants melee where u are aiming u will tp if u can melee someone where u are tping u will melee and really helps for mobility :D )
I like late release videos on frames because they are more accurate to what the frame is like going forward.

Put reave on his 4, pick a group, and hit 3. I'm sure you can figure out the rest and why this is just hauntingly overpowered.
Alternatively, bring a Garuda along and see some truly funny numbers made by a mining laser with a K3 G4 combo.
I haven't played warframe in quite a while and so I've never used Kullervo, but he seems like a strictly better version of Ash
I still really wish Curse was his Helminth, it feels like better Marked for Death.

I used him once in the circuit but I didn't understand his abilities so I never bothered and I haven't seen him on rotation to pick him and use again ever since. This video shed a lot of light on him. Also, that Wellspring you used at 5:25 gave me tingles.

NGL, Kullervo had become my main. He's so fun to play with
His 3, 1 combo with a good melee is one of the most insane things i’ve ever seen if you give him some decent range lol, this dude just clears multiple hallways of enemies instantly if they’re all within line of sight.
One set of mods that I tend to use with Kullvero since it's set bonus pairs wells with him is the Gladiator Mods, which is increased Critical Chance per Combo multiplier.

If in his review of Dagath he DOESN'T make a "so no head" joke, I will be mildly dissatisfied
Since he got out I'm maining him, and I'm loving it!! What a beast! These melee crits, plus his two makes him basically immortal as long as you have a little energy ... His 3 makes for the most stupendous nuke/wipe strikes. I'm ltteraly yearning for a prime!!
And then theres his augment for his 4th ability, not only can you move the daggers to wherever you teleport, it also adds 6 secs to the duration, which basically takes away the need to reproc his 4
DE seems to be on a roll with some pretty good frames. I can only hope this chain isn’t broken when Dagath comes out tomorrow. Can’t hope too hard though, we could get another on-release Yareli.

Considering the curse abilety, yeah Kullervo is quit nuts at dealing and spreading damage.
9:45 banshee can do that too with marked for death and savage silence, it's only one hit tho so it better be a finisher

Stumbled across this video not long after getting my kullervo and put my twist on the build. Became a favorite frame REAL quick. While doing netracells solo i managed a 5.4 BILLION red crit on a mob of murmur enemies with a crit built scindo prime with full combo count. Happened only once, but in that case once was enough
I just got Kullervo, and I learned something great
His one (the teleport) is technically also a Heavy Attack, which means that he can activate the Incarnon form of my melee while also entering Red Crit City
Combine that with the Incarnon being able to leave toxic gas clouds around and he's got a lot of area covered
He bridges the age-old gap between, "I like this weapon. It's neat," and, "but it's not the Kuva Zarr/Bramma," with some good old fashioned knife-point diplomacy.
