It was a big mistake that Romania and Bulgaria became member of EU. We have more than enough these Roma (gypsies) people. City of Helsinki pays money them to return back to Romania and Bulgaria, but they will come again. :( This has been permanent problem in Finland since Romania and Bulgaria became member. EU has given huge amounts to increase living standard for gypsies but money has gone only for corruption. In Sweden they have same problem. They even demand housing even they are only "tourists".

They are EU nationals that come under the false pretence of seeking employment or to study in the UK, or in their case to commit crime (theft, prostitution, fraud, drug trafficking, etc). They will operate as part of a gang. All they need to do is set up some bogus employment status & make the necessary national insurance payments to claim benefits, housing & healthcare. But not all EU migrants are like this, it's just a minority of criminal gangs that exploit the EUs freedom of movement rules & tarnish everyone else.

European migration has been a disaster for everyone. The countries forced to accept huge numbers have seen rises in unrest and racism, a huge shift in cultures and a rise in resentment among their own populations. The countries these immigrants come from are loosing young working age people skewing the population towards the older and less affluent.

It's heartbreaking to see this. Charity or not, whether they are given the produce for free or not... the clothes could go to families or people in need or sold off to fund programs that do assist people in need.... construction workers work for cash, not trinkets and warm fuzzy feelings.
I shop at op shops all the time, I usually ask what type of programs my money will go towards and how much of it, if it's less than 50% going towards programs then I just leave the store without buying anything... I don't hurt programs that need to produce to survive.
I'm also someone that benefits from these programs, can get some great brand name clothes for much less than they are worth and they usually are in perfect order.. there should be a special sub crime of shoplifting when it comes to stealing from charities when it's proven that the money goes to where it's needed most... no offence to the normal shops but you have to agree, when you pull your money out to give to the poor, you don't want that stolen from the charity
For 6 years I drove for a charity company which represents elderly / poor people.
I would leave my home very early in the morning and, on my own, begin
" posting " bags through letterboxes in all kinds of weather. 2 days later I would pick up my two colleagues and start collecting the bags which would be left outside doors.
Over a time, I got to know the good areas from the not so good ones.
So I had my own selected areas where I knew that the quality of the donations was exceptional.
How extremely upsetting it was to find that foreign SNOT BUCKETS had nicked 90 percent of my hard earned stock.
All this until I set a few traps.
Obviously I don't want to advertise what I did suffice to say that they were so, so sorry both legally and physically.

I was glad to see the police sergeant treating a real member of the romanian community with respect, and denying her further abuse from that guy. Most romanians are like that interpreter, unfortunately the media looking for shocking stories promote racism and judgemental thinking among normal people, so we all have to suffer for it.

I've faced a similar incident at Barnardo's in Boston today (6th April 2023) when a foreign couple with their little girl tried to steal things from the charity shop, especially the little girl. Luckily the dodgy customers were unsuccessful in trying to steal anything when I kept a close eye on them, especially the little girl, and she knew that I was onto her because she kept trying to run and hide from me or towards the woman. Even when the man tried to distract me, it backfired on him when I pointed where the items are that he wanted instead of leading him to it, and when I saw him put on a coat to try on, but didn't take it off straight afterwards. So rather frustratingly, they bought and paid for the items they wanted, and walked out a little bit annoyed that their shoplifting tactic failed, especially when one customer saw the little girl put a ladies bag in her coat and informed Carol the shop manager what had happened.
How much does that charity shop throw out? How much do they pay their workers? Other than the manager and deputy manager.
@@ThursoBerwick I don't know how much the paid staff are paid, I'm just one of the volunteers there, but recently this year, we've apparently had a similar shoplifting problem with a group of Romanian women who used similar distraction tactics whilst one of them and their kids try to steal the items. They've been banned from the store though, but they've been doing it in other shops across Boston as one frustrated shop owner posted a CCTV image of them on a Facebook group to make people aware. I don't know what you mean by how much the shop throw out, but I assume that you mean the shoplifters? If so, it's very rare that it happens.

I'm only in my thirties and I remember a day when this country wasn't so infested with so many immigrants. I've worked with many of the Eastern European immigrants and those who work aren't the problem, I'd even go so far as to say they actually integrated quite nicely too. But that was 15+ years ago when they were still a minority. Now immigrants are on par if not a majority in some of the UK's major cities. The infrastructure was not ready for this major influx and still isn't ready. The government needs to implement an immediate immigration ban until the system can make sure it doesn't crumble under the sheer weight of how many people we now have in the country. This isn't me being racist but just plain realistic. Sad sad times we face because the people who truly need help are being left by the curb while the bad apples are clogging up the system with petty and major crimes and problems. The NHS is on breaking point as well, yet there is no discrimination who they treat. When this country is on its knees the immigrants will be the first rats to desert the sinking ship while the people who belong here will have to deal with the consequences. As I said before my opinions are not racial in any shape or form.
