- .:. the story behind "A Gospel From A Heathen" .:.
"In connection with the disc 'Wild Seed', Harket was on the promo tour in Brazil, and on Oct. 27 in 1995, he guested the radio show 'Transa Livre' at Transamerica FM. He played various tunes, including 'Hunting High And Low' and 'A Kind Of Christmas Card', and was interviewed. He got some intuitive to play a new song, which was called 'A Gospel From A Heathen' (some sites also referred it as 'Gospel From Heaven')."
"(However) The record company Warner dared not release it - 'Because, the words like 'fascist' and 'atheist' made them afraid of the reaction - even though it basically is a song about love', according to Harket."
"(This was) recorded at the radio studio where Harket visited in Brazil in 1995, He began playing it with the words 'I think we've had enough soft songs'."
[pulled from: enomagasin.no/morten-harket/ Please visit this page for the full article (written in Norwegian) / description's translated & edited by me... heh / got to know about the audio & webpage via a-ha-live.com's tweet @ahalive_com Big thanks again & again!]
- the original audio is available at: goo.gl/vLcnQU (with the title as 'Gospel from Heaven'...;o) )
- The melodies are (almost) the same as 'Fremmed her (Stranger here)' which is included in his 2nd sung-in-Norwegian solo album 'Vogts Villa' (1996)
- the pictures used on this slideshow are from the booklet attached to "Vogts Villa" album.
- Since the original audio had radio's station ID during song's introduction, I removed it, then picked up a riff part and made it repeat twice. I hope my edit doesn't bother you.

Beautiful melody super ♥️♥️
Congratulations ♥️🌹♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
The Best Forever ♥️
This man has a real soul to compliment his stunning vocals. He's a really interesting solo artist in his own right.
Back here again listening, I really like this song, it is really very different. I just love all those things he did back then with just him and his guitar, would love to see that more often now. I Love to see and hear him play. He really is so amazingly talented.
Fabulous great MORTEN ❤️👍😻☮️🔥🇺🇸🙏🦋
Que don Morten!! Que voz!! Sublime!❤️😍
This is really cool. He is so awesome, I learn something new to like about him just about every day.
Nossa. Voz linda . oh Morten tanta sensibilidade e doçura... 😢😢❤❤❤
Brinca com os timbres da voz com o se fosse nada. Maravilhoso❤👍🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🥰🌻❤
Esse cara e demais ❤
👍👍👍 very brave and from the heart. Love Frenmed Her by the way
Oh damn, I had no idea what Fremmed Her was about, until I came across this. And, honestly, the anglicised version is quite bold whereas the Norwegian counterpart seemed to be quite soft. I really like the shift from hopeless assimilation to realisation, calling out and drifting away from the system was questionable from an ethical point of view. Let alone translation of this song, I had no idea this was in reference to Waco Siege.
WOW ! thank you celice neo for this vid and all these informations ! :)
That's unlike anything I've heard Morten sing before.
As I remember about those years, Morten wanted to release many problematic songs (for the lyrics, I mean), but he eventually found out that no record company would produce them! For instance, in an article they said he wanted to speak about the Waco siege, but this was totally rejected! (mmm... could exactly this song be about it??)
Then he turned more and more into something intimate... ;)
So, thank you very much for posting it. In Vogts Villa this song (Fremmed Her) is good, but nothing strong as this! The song lost all its power.
wow, thank you so much for the input! Now I come to understand, at least a little bit more than before, about the lines like "I gave you my hand man you handed me a gun", "temple into a tomb" or "to protect the seeds in your womb". The song sounds (means, the lyrics do) quite shocking, but also honest & convincing.
but the song talks exactly about this, doesn' it?
@@vaniachiandotto7797 Così pare. It seems so.
Gostei dela, eu não conhecia❤❤
Sadly he never released it. Could have now.I guess many people would not understand what this song is about. sadly
This song is very similar in melody to "Fremmed Her" from his Vogst Villa album.
as I wrote in the video description, it was later recorded as "Fremmed Her" :) This recording was done in 1995. (then, Vogts Villa album was released in 1996 as you know.)
***** Had I read all of the description before making my comment I would've seen that. This is a pretty cool version.

please see/read the comment by littlefeather1980 posted here (I mean, on this page) 6 years ago, as :
