- Another Mod on the HDR 50. I was told that this should make a bit more power, so in this video we try it, and see if it works.

It did seem to make a bit more power.
Try with the 10cm barrel extention now , you will get around ~30 joules with your 5,1g ammo
Thanks for testing out mods to HDR50. Yes these air guns are nice to have even if you do have real firearms. I would use them as first resort to scare off any would be intruders before resorting to using real firearms. At 15 FPE or better these should make quite an impression without killing the person you are shooting at.

I pulled the valve plug, and drilled out my CO2 restrictor to about 1mm. Huge difference, but I definitely burn thru the gas quicker. Tuning barrel next which tends to make another big difference according to tests I've seen.

You linked to two upgrade kits. One for the 7,5J and one for the 11J version. Why are there two upgrade kits? How are they different? I thought the 11J version doesn't need the fitted disk shaped part because it is already fitted when you buy it?

Hello. What I really don’t understand is the installation process. In your video is very easy. On other video is extremely long and a complicated (at least for me). Which is the simplest mod for the HDR 50? I just want some more power for my 7,5 joule model but I’m not able to install complicated mods. Thanks 🙏

Hello. I have the 11 joule version and I removed the valve from the block. Now I made a hole in the restrictor. I brought it to 1 mm from the original 0.2 mm and it has good power. I lowered it to 0.68mm and I think it maintains the power but more constant in 2 rounds. What do you advise me, put the 1mm one back or enlarge it to 1.5mm?
I don’t understand where you’re getting a flash from it uses co2??

I had not bothered doing anything about that disc previously, but a popular mod is to drill out the hole in the disc to about 1.5mm. Now if I fit a powerkit and it comes with the disc I always change it, and it does seem to make a bit more power. If you have an 11 joule, you can remove the block and drill the disc and get between 14-16 joules.
First is the lowest energy because the space is not up to peak pressure.
Do any of these mods work with the 4.5 UMAREX tornado? It's essentially the same revolver, but shoots 4,5 pellets at around 3J. Thanks!

Once I charged it with co2, and it's shot already few times, I don't know how to open the bottom again to change the co2, could you make a vid? Mine seems to be stuck
Release the pressure, by pushing in the pin that pops out when you charge it. It should then come undone.

If you have the 7.5 joule version, you won’t have that piece in your gun. If you fit the powerkit, the piece is included in the kit.
Drill 2mm, for faster load up the cylinder between every shot, get good power to.

In my kit I get stainless teel..hard like hell.
Afraid to brake a 1.5.
Get around 18 hard punch..predator 4.8gram.
Use torch tip cleaners to make the hole bigger in incremental sizes.
I used a gun cleaning pick to increase the hole size in my T4e and I use nothing but Deeez Bullets from eBay ,they are perfect and impact harder because they're made to leave the gun faster with a flat base instead of the hollow base for the ammo.

Are you finding these jam? Seen a couple of reviews saying both versions jam a lot, the 11 J being worse.
I have both versions, and never had a jam on either of them. I did have a problem when I changed the barrel, the barrel spring got wedged so the barrel couldn't move and it locked the drum, easily fixed and not a problem since.
Ost jams due to ammo if gun maintained properly. I make my own ammo amd check diameters and lengths of slugs and purchase the balls. If you get jams I'd look to the ammo if action working smoothly .
That's really odd I have a 7.5 joule model and even without the blocker and valve removed it doesn't just pour out the barrel. I only get about 6 shots but it works fine
so do you mean that you've removed that little disk and it still works for 6 shots? more power? louder?
@@homeagent Yes Both more power and louder. Power is about 450-500fps depending on ammo or the really heavy stuff 275-350fps depending on weight. 6-12 shots usually around 8. Now with the hpa hooked up I have to put it back in or it will pour out the barrel unless I turn the pressure down. So if I'm running HPA anywhere from 800-1200 PSI I have to put the blocker back in the grip.
I'm confused on you crono readings. Are you at meters per second or feet per second?
Meters per second, with the energy in joules at the top.
@@Maddogairguns thanks for the vids. I find them helpful and enjoyable. I've got a HDR and just bought a HDX and going back through your vids for help and ideas. France looks nice and a decent piece of land to test on. Also disabled through strokes so can appreciate your motivations.

Hi! My name is Kevin I don't own one of HDR 50 and I've watched some of your videos and I'm disabled and would like to own one and get the most power out of it for home defense. However I'm told there are different versions and if I order the wrong one I won't be able to upgrade it . I live in the USA and would like to ask you what version should I purchase or are they all the same I see a 7.5j & 11j I don't know I just want to protect my family I'm almost 60. and out of all the videos I've seen you are the most knowledgeable can you help me ??
Either the 7.5 or 11 Joule can be modded for more power, if you get the 7.5 joule version it doesn't have the co2 restrictor disc in the handle, so when you remove the valve block you will need to put one in. All parts come in the powerkit50 from homedefence-24

You can buy the 11 j valve online for 30 dollars and put it in the 7 joule version I’d just buy the 7 and put the upgrade in if I were you

Hi. I designed and made my own upgrade kit based on these videos + rifled barrel with slugs. Quite a steam hammer now and very loud.

Hi. Ideally 1mm hole in the pressure chamber insert gives about 12 shots with the 1st six being hard.
I have yet to put these in production.

I tried on the M&P, wasn’t worth the effort, it made very little gains in terms of power.

Just roll electrical tape around the drill bit shaft and the Jaws will grip it.
it will not be centered and it will canter when you start drilling. Talking from experience.

Remove the valve block, and drill the restricter disc to 1.5mm and you will get more power.
@@Maddogairguns I've removed the block already once I make the 1.5mm hole in the disc is their any need for the power kit
@@sully9836 It depends who you talk to, some say it's just snake oil and makes no difference, but I have seen slight gains after fitting the power kit. You will get more gains by fitting the tuning barrel and extension if you have already removed the block and drilled the disc.

@@sully9836 The more mods you do, the more CO2 you are going to use. So it's up to you where you go with it. Mine is 11joule version, valve block removed, disc drilled to 1.5mm, shorter pin fitted, tuning barrel fitted, it now makes about 25joules (depending on ammo) but only get about 5-6 good shots with good power and then it tails off a bit.

For me, the gains aren't good enough for almost 50% let's shots per canister. Just my personal opinion though.
Agreed. It's maybe 1-1.5J on some of the shots. but really it made little difference.

i drilled 2.5mm and all the air shot out i did 1.5mm and its fine on the new one stay under 2mm or all your air will fart out the barrel

@@jmarsh667 its very common many people in the hdr groups had this happen with just 2.5 mm i heard at least 20 gone bad in the last 6 months check out the groups on facebook
@@UmarexLessLethalHomeDefense can you explain a little more please? Is mine bad or did I get lucky that I can use it without the blocker in the bottom. Is it bad to? I'm trying to get lot's of power out of it but still want as many shots as possible while having max power.
@@jmarsh667 ya for mine i added a shorter pin 2mm removed the valve block and drill out the co2 restrictor in the co2 chamber 1.5mm now im using hpa 1100 psi output for hpa you must remove the co2 restrictor also i added the tuning run barrel extension and im getting 61 joules with 3 gram slugs, my buddy is getting 78 joules with 1300 psi hpa, if your on facebook join my group, Less lethal home defense 50 and 68 cal i made 3 carbines and a sniper rifle out of a hdr and hdp, my hdp is maxed out as well, at 78 joules it sends a 8.4 gram steel bearing around 450 fps, lethal for sure lol

I really think air guns are for fun... really the game's on. But I guess a gun is a good weapon to back people off. And really guns are our rights... meaning respect the kids they can learn how to use one... aiming pointing shooting and stopping. Thanks.
Making it perfectly clear for me... guns are for protection.. and using one has risks. But man up too the kids... they aren't even in a hurry but I think it's time obey our right's...
