    "Her quirk doesn't work on the dead."
    We don't know that. It could, because what is dead was once alive, and she could revert those dead cells back to a living state. We simply don't know if she can, but if she could do so then she could revert nomus and other victims back to life. Or even bring back what is left of Shigaraki's family.

    • @GeorgeCowsert
      @GeorgeCowsert Před 4 lety +20

      If she could, it'd be more like Crazy Diamond from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
      (If you're unaware, Crazy Diamond has the power to revert things back to a previous state, and alter the reformation process to do some other wacky stuff.)
      When Crazy Diamond is used on a dead person, they don't come back. The body may have returned to a living state, but the soul is already gone.

    • @Mackinz92
      @Mackinz92 Před 4 lety +14

      @@GeorgeCowsert Rewind is not Crazy Diamond. Crazy Diamond was specifically designed to have a limited healing ability so that the author could up the tension of the series. Crazy Diamond also did not work on his user, Josuke.
      Horikoshi has established no such limits with Rewind. We see Rewind healing Eri during the anime. She reverted a fully grown adult to nothing in seconds when her quirk first activated. She instantly completely reverted Overhaul's fused form into him and his henchman. We know that Horikoshi takes direct Inspiration from western comics and overpowered superheroes. Don't assume limits on the limitless.
      The only known limits of her quirk are: it only affects organic matter, and it takes time to build up energy in her horn.

    • @alwayswatching5545
      @alwayswatching5545 Před 4 lety +9

      @@Mackinz92 not yet at least, but Horikoshi has always established some limits to every quirk even one for all.
      One for all's limits being that well if your body is not trained you are very much dead, and to make the quirk stronger than it it already is, it has to be passed on (which is why the previous All for One users have died) and the quirk technically is never yours, but a suit you use and then pass on.
      All of one's quirk being that he has to learn manually what the quirk he took is and learn how to use it from scratch, and maybe the amount, but that isn't made really clear idk.
      Eri's limit could very well be that she can only use it on living beings (using this as an example since I don't think her quirk has been used on objects).
      A person who died is no longer alive and such the quirk cannot be used on them. Or maybe like Overhaul where she has to rewind them almost instantly after their death or else they are too far gone.
      And honestly I hope Horikoshi goes this way, because it would add tension and make death have actual meaning, unlike Dragon Ball where death is a joke.
      We won't know until something is stated tho

    Considering her maturity at her age + no killing aspect and so on, I'd think that erasing villain's Quirks isn't really best outcome. I know it might sound cheesy, but I would be honestly be baffled to see her just... turn villains into children.
    As a person who knows how complex can be children, that would give all the villains with somewhat tragic backstory (from Stain, through Overhaul up to Shigaraki), she could just turn them into toddlers with no recollection of harms done and have them grow up again, giving them basically second chance at character development.
    It would be weird, though great to see teenage Stain having opportunity to talk to All Might he upholds so much
    Or an Overhaul turned back to a child and heroes trying to force him into a sort of moral code which he never seemed to understand - even in childhood flashbacks.
    Or just a Shigaraki who would go back to a child that is simply afraid to touch anybody and seeking any parental figure.
    I know that use of a Quirk would turn the series into My Playground Academia, but with Bakugo/Shoto License training it already kinda happened, so.....

  • @SuperSonicBlur
    @SuperSonicBlur Před 4 lety +7

    From the Overhaul arc, we learn the most important thing about this universe:
    Time is a malleable thing.
    We have 2 examples of this now, Foresight being able to look along the timeline to varying degrees of detail and Rewind being able to bring past points of time forward.
    From Foresight we learn that the future is as real as the current state however what foresight does is like looking throuhg a tube of the 4th dimension. You can see wherever it points but that does not show alternatives and since there are so few time affecting quirks (chrono being one which works like water does to light and slows it) this is what lead Nighteye to see that the future was predetermined.
    Eri however changes that. By overwriting things to being a previous point of time pushed forward, you instantly change everything about that current timeline. Nighteye saw that Deku would be impaled and would fight Chisaki and die in the process but that future was with that injury. That timeline still would end how Nighteye saw things and so could lead him to come to that conclusion. Eri's power takes fixed points of time and pull them forward in time. What this means is if she can evolve this quirk to do the opposite, taking a current fixed point in time and push it backwards, then she can or could push a current point of time backwards into the past. If this would happen depends on if that would be a bootstrap paradox or not which would make my brain hurt so moving on!
    "Nighteye saw Toga's future and say he's gonna be a great hero" I hear you cry. To which I say, yes he did. However we dont actually *know* what he saw. In a gut wrenching moment, Nighteye looks into the eyes of his partner and as their final act, gives them the hope to move forward with his words "you will be a fine hero". Giving him the power to be able to smile and go on regardless of what he saw here. At least thats what I chose to believe.

      She can heal like Recovery girl.
      She can bring old pro heroes back to their prime ages.
      She can rewind genes
      She can be immortal.
      Eri has 6-in-one quirk, I rank her quirk 3rd following AFO and OFA. Her past resembles Shigaraki's past so she could possibly be a villainess if heroes didn't save her from Chisaki's extortion.

      Yeah it wasn't Eri's quirk that was healing her, Overhaul literally reconfigured her body back to the previous state. Much like how he did to the robbers when we are first introduced to him, where everything that was broken or unhealthy in their bodies was fixed.

    I have a theory about Eri's quirk. Not about the Nomu being rewinded to their original forms, but more directed towards the rest of the quirk population. Like, everybody heard of the quirk singularity that was brought up twice in the manga? The one where quirks would become out of control and destroy society because the bodies couldn't catch up to the power? What if the series ended with everyone's quirks being rewinded to quirkless which saves both society while simultaneously ending the superpower era that's been going on for centuries? That'd be kind of cool, tbh.

    Don’t forget that Eri’s Rewind is a storage-type Quirk akin to One For All and Fatgum’s Fat Absorption. The horn stores power and releases it as Rewind. But if she uses it too much, a la constantly Rewinding Deku so that he feels no effect of One For All, then her Quirk becomes unusable in this state, with her horn growing tiny, until the power and her horn grows back. But this now begs the question: is there a limit to how much power Eri can store? Deku’s One For All builds up power over time and Fatgum stores energy in the form of fat or kinetic energy, but what does Eri store and is it possible to accelerate the storage? For example, if she stores the potassium found in fruits, which may be why she likes apples and by extension, bananas or cantaloupes, then she can store more power by having a potassium-based diet. And what about her horn? If her horn is the gauge of her storage, how big would it get? So many possibilities with little Eri!

    A while ago I had kind of an edgy future villain Eri AU idea.
    Due to something horrible like maybe Deku dying she gets similar feelings that Kota had, but now she has a way to end all the violence. The Quirk Erasing bullets.
    I feel like the bullets had more in them than just her blood, so I like to imagine her with a string gauntlet like Scarecrow from the Arkham games.
    She starts preaching the idea that all quirks have done is hold society back (Deku's line about interstellar vacations) and give psychopaths the power of mass destruction. If all Quirks are erased, what real damage would be done? People NOT having to worry about a dude blowing up a city just by waving his hand? Yeah, there will be no more superheroes, but isn't the safety of the public worth it?
    That was one idea I had a while ago, and I probably could tweak it a bit more.

    Her quirk is a writing pitfall. If she's not heavily restricted it will make loop holes, reduce tension, and cause bad writing.
    Its the same reason that time travel when introduced into a show makes too many problems.
    This is a power I hope, is restricted. For example she can only use it when her horn grows which is maybe once every few months( or weeks). Even then still strong. Like it was pointed out you can make people young or cure fatal wounds.
    Really hope they do something like that.

  • @yousefhokage2876
    @yousefhokage2876 Před 4 lety +8

    I disagree with a couple of things, first, she won't be able to combine quirk factors expect for examples if she got them at the same time like urarka and some other effect if they are not at the same time she can't combine two points at her body timeline so she can alternate but not combine; seconde, she will still need food and sleep eventually because quirks are still physical abilities so after she rewinds her body her quirk meter will get drained and after a while, she will still need food and sleep.

    • @AliceIsSleepy
      @AliceIsSleepy Před 4 lety +1

      Not necessarily. Depends on what parts of the body it affects. For example, Uraraka would probably either be full body or surface of the body, while something like recovery girl would be mostly internal. If a quirk only affects some part of her, she can then use her own quirk only on that part or mix and match parts.

    One thing you have to remember about Eri's quirk is that it's a Power Stockpiler with the amount of energy she has stored represented by the size of her horn. Post Overhaul Arc, her horn all but disappeared and When Monoma copied her quirk, he couldn't use it to its full potential because he didn't have any energy stored up.
    Her power may be godlike, but it still requires time to build up to that point and the more that she uses the less she'll have to use later. All of the power she demonstrated during the Overhaul Arc was the byproduct of a childhood of not using her power to its fullest extent.
