On January 22, 2024, the Finnish internet music magazine Kaaozine published a new interview with Kai Hahto (in Finnish).
In it, Kai told what he is doing right now and in general this year.
He turned 50 a few weeks ago. At the beginning of next month, he will hold a concert called "Alone", because he really does play alone! All other music comes from the background tape. There, he celebrates both his 30-year career as an artist and his 50th birthday. Kai has played in numerous bands, so this will be a cross-section of his career. And he's played drums on about 40 albums too!
In addition, he told about the situation of both Nightwish and Wintersun bands.
Since neither band is active this summer, Kai will be on vacation for the most part throughout the summer, so there hasn't been a similar situation for a long time. Kai does accept new students to play the drums, he has just built a new space, a practice and teaching space near his home. Usually the lesson lasts 2-3 days and the student can stay in the same apartment!
The long-awaited Time 2 album is finally coming from Wintersun at the turn of August-September. But it is said that Jari is also preparing another album for release, so Wintersun will not go on tour this summer.
Nightwish's album is still in the mixing stage and that work will take place in February. Only then can it be handed over to Nuclear Blast, and then it will take until autumn before both vinyl and CD formats are available for sale. The album contains 12 songs and three of them will be music videos and the other songs will be lyric videos.
Kai also shared that NW will be taking a break from touring for 2-3 years. This was new information, as no time estimate has been given before.
So we can wait calmly, they have the intention to return to the tours!

There are bands whose first couple of Albums are great and their later stuff is not so memorable... Nightwish just seem to keep on producing Bangers amazing stuff

This is a good sounding compilation video. The aerial view in the beginning and the later fireworks scene are from the 16.6.2023 Kitee Rantakenttä (Finland) show.
I was there with about 10000 other fans. Floor was a little "heavy" there, but still they delivered a full two hours show.
Well, after the next day's Vaasa show she collapsed of exhaustion, and they had to cancel some shows. Luckily everything is ok now. ⛄👍
I was in Vaasa, and I don't understand how she could go through that show, but it was brilliant as always. Now we have to wait for the new album.

Kun lähdetään täältä pohjoisesta minnekkään, se vaatii aina hieman logistista suunnittelua.

❤❤Unfortunately, there will not be a new NW Tour for couple of years. Wintersun album with Kai is also coming, finally! Kai has solo project(s) or projects with other bands. Kai is a fukn BEAST. He and Jukka are both students of Tribal/Jamaican/ African style drumming and it shows.
Probably my favorite song off the latest album (for now), and I really love this live video! Tuomas singled out "Tribal" as a highlight of the tour, and it's easy to see why. It is such a banger, and it's obviously so much fun for both the band and the crowd. I would imagine they played this when George saw them, so I wonder if he remembers. Probably didn't have the screen and pyro, though, so not quite the same visually.
BTW, Aurora has a new song / music video that she released less than a week ago, called "The Conflict of the Mind." Hope to see you guys get to that one soon!
Ahh...The Thamesmen and Nightwish. I need another beer and crank up the sound! I'm happy to see The Thamesmen have not forgotten Tuomas and Floor. And I can't wait for the new Nightwish album later this year. As for the comedy bit: Laughter is still the best medicine. But clubbing seals is a disgraceful thing to do. Let the seals deal with the threat of sharks after their body parts. Also, Alex...being a geezer myself, I understand the angst to get off the ski slopes.

Hello again, Thamesmen. Yes, Kai Hahto on drums was spectacular and the hole band just killed this. Floor is such a beast. This is definitely on my workout gym playlist... as is every song from their Human || Nature double album set.

Bold of you to assume we have friends! And for your count-in, "kolme, kaksi, yksi" would do nicely. I was never in any doubt this would be a banger - my family are generally not into the heavier songs, but when the lyric video was released I had to play it to them straight away, and it was thumbs up from everyone. (Do watch the lyric video sometime for the full version of the skeleton dance.)
I believe Kai had to add pieces to his kit to meet Tuomas’ new songs on this album.

Ji guys, glad youve jumped on the Tribal bandwagon - all sorts of people seem to have picked up on it who I've never seen react to Nightwish before unlike you.
BUT I am surprised you dont know the song. Did the whole 2022 tour pass you by? Tribal was on the setlist so George must have heard it. And if you listen to albums you must surely have heard this multiple times.
You wont see them for the new slbum tough - they are not touring it. (Possibly to give Floor a break after the trials of last year, plus they have all been working hard for a long rtime.)
That comedy bit was the highlight for me.
Very good song for what it was. Don't love the newer style rock music, so not for me tho.

Clubbed me a seal on the beach of Holland recently. Happy times. Seal clubbers are the best people around, except the Canadians of course. They couldn’t club their way out of a paper bag. Quite pathetic really.

I like Nightwish, but this song didn't connect with me on the first listen. Decent song, but that's as far as I'll go.
