    I use Kemper every day and have no plans switching to anything else. I have almost all of the profiles of these two gentlemen and they are just so damn good that with few od pedals I can create whatever sound I want. I just love Christoph Kempers humble strategy to update the old profiler for free years and years in a row...Nice to see how the liquid eq improves Kemper in my use. Thanks guys, keep on putting new stuff out, I will probably buy them anyway...

    Great video, you guys are great. I think the main point is, theoretically, you can now adjust gain quite a bit from a single profile, and the results should be true to the original amp. On a non-liquid profile, you can tweak the gain knob of course, but larger movements start to wander from the real amp (might sound good, but not realistic)… so (in theory) instead of using five profiles for the same amp to capture different gain settings, you could use one and adjust the gain knob with more success/consistency than before.

    Good to know about the Marshall EQ. I have an 81 JCM 800 4210 Combo that is awesome (don't care what the critics think) and my EQ seems somewhat useless except for the Mid knob.
    It is the only Marshall I have ever owned but I have played many of my friends but did not mess with the settings since they were dialed in.
    I always use pedals with it. This one was modded when I got it. Bright cap clipped and diodes removed. I have a PV VTM60 that rocks but the EQ there is way different story.

    As a consumer, I would love to have the “authentic” liquid profile ie.. set to noon. This is what the amp sounds like and here’s how the tone stack works. Then as a pack give me some of the generics with sounds you think exemplify the amp as we have in the past. This way we get “the amp” and “THE amp”.

    The best tone I’ve had on all my presets for my Kemper profile stage , is when I dialed my amps I needed for the gig with the dynamics of the band that I play with on a weekly basis during rehearsals and sound checks.
    Outside of the band, my presets are horrible. And it’s supposed to be.

    Nice video guys. So thanks for this.
    I have 2 Marshalls. A JMP50 from 1969 Smallbox in purple and my trusty JCM 800 2203 100W from 1983. The purple one has a very effective Bass Pot. I have to turn it down close to zero to get "the" Sound. I have 2 different 4x12 cabinets with either greenbacks/blackbacks from 69/77, a few celestions of the eighties. In my opinion the "EQ" of these amps are very effective. Not like a parametric EQ of course.
    And even the "all to ten" rule is not the smartest move in my humble opinion. For example my JCM 800 sounds the best up to 7. Further its getting dull and not very articulated. Watch the Rig Rundown from JD Simo (about 10 years ago). He used to play purple Plexis at this time and he speaks about cutting the bass knob completely to zero.
    Thanks again and greetz ✌🏻

  • @musicproductionvideos5019

    Will this allow us to take profiles with too much gain (for my taste)... and dial them back and have a usable & more realistic results? If you update the profile with the correct model?

  • @stonelark
    @stonelark Před 10 měsíci

    Great stuff. Tonex is a more realistic purchase for most non-gigging pros, but gotta admit the Liquid Profiling is cool. Let's see how long it takes for IK Multimedia to find a way to engineer around the patents and do something similar. And, how long will it take Line 6 to get into profiling...

  • @Johnsormani
    @Johnsormani Před 5 měsíci

    The big question about liquid profiling is if Kemper actually did model the stone stacks according to the original ones ( like Marshall JCM with 33k slope resistor ,470pf treble cap etc)or if they just matched the ranges . Since a lot of interactivity is happening , also with gain , if you play with bright caps it get even more complicated. It would be wonderful if they took that all into account. Having said that It would be even more accurate if you would be able to make a profile A with gain on 2 and profile B with gain on 7 and merge those two profiles into the new liquid profile. Going just from max gain and calculate the rest is certainly less accurate

  • @stratless
    @stratless Před 3 měsíci

    Sounds so good! I'm wondering how one would 'liquid profile' a boutique amp like the Mzero MezzaBarba Eric Steckel amp. (For instance).
    What base amp would you choose? I have several boutique amps like this, that don't exactly fit the stock amp choices. Do you know if in the future Kemper will expand the stock amp choices?

    Using pedals with the amp shouldn't affect the process of liquid profiling because when you think about it, you would still use the same controls on the amp even if you use a pedal. I reckon the best way to ensure it's accurate, just set the gain at the level you would in order to get the sound with the pedal. The user can still use the controls to alter the gain and eq as if they were using the amp. The only issue is that they won't be able to change the controls on the pedal.

    I think this episode (and the one you did yesterday) have brought to mind an actual DOWNSIDE of Liquid Profiling: that is, the older style of profiles give you types and amounts of control *not* found on the original amps.

    • @Matt_on_life
      @Matt_on_life Před rokem +2

      You’re correct, however I don’t find it to be a downside, having either option at any time. More options to tweak a profile means less total profiles of a single reference amp, which simplifies your library. That is, assuming you are getting what you want from the liquid EQs.

    As far as making profiles. To ME and l will address that to me, the best and most epic way to use my Kemper is stereo or mono to house and then a 2x12 or 4x12 behind me. Monitor out of the Kemper with the speaker/cab sim disabled. And l will add, l run NO effects to my monitor out speaker cab. It’s dry. On occasion I have had a sound guy mike my dry cab and mix it in. I would like opinions.

    I think the idea of modeling the actual tone stacks of different amps is useful and a good thing to have, but the Kemper won't be able to compete until it improves its core profiling capability. I've owned one for like a decade now, but, honestly, it just isn't as good as ToneX or NAM in terms of accuracy of profiles or even the feel of those profiles. I think Liquid Profiling is just a gimmicky software update trying to convince people to not sell their Kemper for a ToneX. It's more of a reactionary move + marketing.

    • @TheAlfahDj

      I have tried both and kemper remains as good as ever, tonex doesnt get more accurate than the kemper, sometimes kemper get the profile better, sometimes the tonex gets it better.
