  • Indya and Toppaz have beef after Indya was slighted at her own sister's wedding when she said none of the groomsmen wanted to walk her down the aisle because she is a trans woman. In a surprising turn of events, Donna, Indya and Toppaz's mom, comes from the audience. Is she the real problem? Toppaz says Donna favors her other children and Indya says they didn't grow up in a household with "I love you" and hugs. Can Karamo help start to heal this family?

This is not an one color only world nor can we help our race HOWEVER for her situation it is different. They did not have to deliver that message in an offensive ways. However , stating you do not want to be around “black” people is most certainly racist because we are the only race you stated you did not want to be around in a world full of other races and ethnicities. It is also racist because you do not know every African American to judge them all ; to even form that kind of opinion of the whole race as one. On this show you will see a lot of African American people ; you’re watching them , yet cannot be around them ? This is the problem with society today. Hell, the show host is African American. Imagine how he would feel if you sat in front of His audience full of American Americans and said this exact comment ……. They’d absolutely consider you racist, because it is racist. Now I agree with this original comment some people just flat out going to accept people whom have become the people the see for fit for themselves, however that is not the same as saying you don’t want to be around black people. I honestly hope 🤞 within the next decade or so, family therapy & counseling will be completely accessible and affordable for more black families. We need to heal. & I love seeing the families on this show take these steps towards better communication. At the end of the day, we all just want our pain to be acknowledged & we all just want to be loved.
I’m proud of the mother for taking accountability & apologizing. Very proud of Topaz for being empathetic to her mother’s depression & issues w/self-worth.
I didn’t come to the conclusion that Topaz really intended to exclude her sister but, I understand in the moment it was hurtful to hear no one would even walk beside her as if, she’s not even human. That wasn’t right but, I don’t think it’s Topaz fault. I also, think maybe there was an issue in the communication between the sisters too, because her sister did say “If you said that, we wouldn’t be here”. That means, either she said but, her sister didn’t hear it that way OR she said it in a way that her sister couldn’t receive that she was still loved and that she wanted her included.

This really touched me. Reminds me of my mom. My daughter calls her her best friend, something I never would have called my mom. So as a grandma I’ve seen a softness and openness that I’ve never seen before and I’m just so happy my daughter gets to enjoy that from my mom cos I didn’t as a child, even though as you say I knew without a shadow of a doubt that my mom loved me fiercely. In turn, as an adult she and I relate so much more and I really feel liked and heard by her, in addition to being loved.

I AGREE! It's all about accepting the positive things that your parents have done. Like me and my husband always tell our children we may be wealthy and we don't know when things may hit us hard in life accept the fact that we've done all we could until things hit us hard and it's all about getting back up after we fall and not about your feelings because of us hitting rock bottom. Even if we didn't have majority what we have it's all about being thankful. And the problem today is that some parents don't teach their kids enough about life and some try to compete with the world so much and that's what the kids are use to. Some parents forget that their children also has feelings so our job as parents is try to heal those feelings instead of acting as if we shouldn't explain anything to our children.

Okay let me just say this. People firstly have a right to feel how they do about another person that has transitioned. It does not mean they should hate, bully, or be verbally abusive to that person, but not everyone is okay or feels comfortable with that and THATS okay. BUT regardless, I don’t see how she was transphobic at all. Whenever there small issues like this and there is a trans person involved, people are extremely sensitive and call anything homophobic or transphobic. It’s like people can’t have rights anymore they have to excuse their comfort for someone else and that’s not true. You shouldn’t be nasty towards anyone or show hate, but it’s alright if you don’t feel completely comfortable doing everything with that person.

If someone said they wouldn’t hold your hand in a wedding because you’re black you’d call them a racist. How is it not transphobic if they just replacing race with gender identity? You have s right to personally discriminate but it’s still shitty

I don't agree with this because if someone was to say they are uncomfortable with someone being straight they would instantly be invalidated by the majority. You guys only say this because it's a minority group you are not apart of. We should not be made to think this behavior is okay.

Some heterosexual men and women are weird acting when it comes to trans women. Me being a trans woman myself I have experienced people not wanting to be around me or uncomfortable when I'm around . Which is weird because I'm not sleeping with you I'm honest about what I am and they'll make themselves seem so uncomfortable when it's like it's not that serious you have to be around humans that you don't like all the time but you still have to respect them if you want respect. One thing I will say if you don't want to be around me I don't want to be around you either but I will not be the one to leave I just will act like you're not there and I suggest you do the same. Everyone is entitled to feel how they feel but you still have to let other people live their life even if you don't agree with it. But a lot of heterosexual men and women will go out of their way to create problems with you or cause a scene when they're really insecure or they have something that you riled in them that makes them question themselves. Specifically the men because if you don't like something just don't deal with it but you still can be respectful and act like a adult

Just because a person does NOT agree with your decision and chooses not to walk with you in a wedding, doesn't make them disrespect you. The groomsman is a man who chooses not to walk with you. He has that right. Why would he chose to be uncomfortable to make YOU comfortable? Take away being trans or whatever, yall are STILL people with feelings. His feelings should still be just as important as yours.

I love how Karamo handled this and I like this family. They just need to listen to each other like Karamo said. Yall beautiful. I will say, though, that the transgender issue is touchy. I'm a gay man, but I have mixed feelings about it. I think transgender women should be proud and not try to hide it from people...but at the same time I don't think it's cool when people are just spillin the tea. It doesn't sound like that's what happened here. She said those men already knew her before she transitioned. That was the confusing part. I also think that's it's dangerous for transgender women to hide or not let men know. There are men who will literally take you out of this world because they feel like you deceived them. She said she wasn't sleeping with those men, but that doesn't matter. That small interaction of holding their hand while walking down the aisle at the wedding without them knowing you're transgender could lead to your demise if they feel tricked. It's better that they know beforehand. This is at a wedding, probably being recorded, and it can get messy and escalate.

Mom is a problem. And the brother/sister individual is also a problem. The sister said that she still wanted the individual in the wedding regardless of the groomsmen not wanting to walk down the aisle and the sibling took it personal. On top of making it like somebody said he was trans when they knew him before transitioning. So I believe he personalized it based off of their own insecurities and then tries to blame the sister.

it hurts to be rejected for shit that’s both out of your control and a deep part of your identity. there’s a lot of stuff between being black and being trans that wouldn’t be fair to compare, but we both know what it’s like to get shit just for existing around the wrong person. we both know what it’s like to be widely regarded as “lesser” in society.
