Maybe he justifies it because he did the same to other women. The difference between those women and her is he believes she's his soulmate. Leaving a toxic attachment is easier said than done. The love one has for the toxic person causes one to justify situations and try to work with that person through their shortcomings, especially in a marriage. I also believe that low self esteem and the idea that they won't find better plays a part in having low energy and the inability to leave.
