I'd love to be a mental health nurse but I left school at 15 without qualifications to join my family business

It's never too late John and you need functional Maths and English level 2 to start an apprenticeship for a nursing associate level then you could top up to become a registered nurse. Or do an access course at college and do pre-reg degree. Start by looking at what's available and get the Maths and English qualifications to start. Lots of people start later. Or get a healthcare support worker role in mental health to see if its for you and you can be led by the registered nurses.

Each UK University has it's own specific entry criteria for pre-registration nursing degree. You require a level 6 pre-registration nursing degree to be registered as a nurse in England currently. So check on each University website for adult nursing level 6 pre-reg degree and you will see entry criteria, which varies across Universities. Many Universities ask for A levels or equivalent level health and social care courses. You will see all the specific entry criteria on the Uni website and you can contact them if unsure. I hope that helps.
