Frizz doesn't look that bad on type 3 or type 4 curls. It looks the worst when you have wavy or a mix of wavy and curly.
Yes! Mine is more like Roseanne Rosanna Danna's.
When I saw Mel's, my first thought if only my hair looked that 'bad' on a bad day.
I agree 😔
right i agree, type 3 or 4 is still nice , my hair is a mix of wavy and curly and its so bad frizzy
I feel it doesn't look "bad" to us is because most of us have lived with frizzy hair and didn't know it. At least for me, I thought type 4 hair simply grew that way until I learned about hair types, proper hair care and everything in between (I'm Type 4 btw).
I recently discovered my hair is type 4 after years if 3bc hair after I did a big chop
Video idea: choose a struggling subscriber/follower and give them a curly hair care routine /advice ! Or reacting to curly hair routines !
Yessssss
I love this idea
Such a great idea 😍
Yes!!!
I always thought this! I’d love to see a curl transformation from damaged hair to this! I’d volunteer 😂 it can be a BTS process from beginning video, middle, end!
Love all these tips! If there’s one thing all curls have in common it’s FRIZZ. I love how you touched on how it’s normal 🙌🏼
HI Gena!!!!! Love you too!!!

Hello Gena, I love your videos as well!
Happy #texturetuesday everyone! I love this video because not only is my seester teaching us all how to understand the root cause of our “unhealthy” frizz + how to treat it, but she also teaches us to embrace our natural frizz because well.... IT IS ONLY NATURAL!!! ❤️😍
Amanda can you please do your current hair styling routine in a video would love to see your results 🙌💖
You are so supportive and gorgeous...just like your seester! 😍💚💙💜
What other products did you use
Such a good person you are and such a GREAT SEESTER. Wishing you only the best. ❤
To a degree some frizz is ok. But mine...my oh my. Even after washing an looking at my wet hair in the shower is still a ratty mess before I even get to styling.
I’ve been so hard on myself about the wet frizz I usually get when styling , it wasn’t a lot but I thought I was doing something wrong every time , so hearing that it’s normal and to embrace them instead means a lot coming from you❤️ Happy texture Tuesday ! So happy y’all convinced me to start my journey❤️
This comment truly made me so happy❤️. In the past I too have been so negative about frizz in general but it's not all bad! I'm glad i could clear this up and explain the differences in types of frizz, how to solve it and ultimately help you embrace the beauty of your frizz. Thank you so much for watching, until next week xoxo
I was so worried because they always say “if it’s frizzy while it’s wet it would be frizzy when it’s dry” and every single time I was so hard on myself and went crazy when styling 😂
Minuet Barragán me tooooo! Lol this definitely cleared that up😭😂
Love the moment where I’m like wow her hair looks amazing and then she mentions it’s 2:07am... the best hair days are the ones where no one sees you in person and then you go to sleep. Who can relate?
I’m super hard on myself on my frizz. I get tons of compliments all the time and I say to myself “please don’t look at this one section” not realizing that they can’t even notice that one section. Thanks for the self-esteem boost!
Quarantine + online classes had me forgetting that today was Texture Tuesday.
I literally saw this video in my subscriptions and blanked in intense confusion for a good half minute before checking what day it was. 😅😅
At first, I was like: Stainless steel treatment?! What's that! 🤣
I’ve always struggled and had insecurities with my hair since I was a little kid. I was so amazed and envious by how beautiful everyone’s hair look like as well as how healthy they looked. I’ve wanted to become a hair stylist for years but I always felt so insecure and discouraged by how my hair isn’t healthy nor I did not even know where or how to start. Ever since I found your CZcams channel I became obsessed and changed my hair 180° by watching almost every video you posted! I have improved my hair so much and thanks to you and your seester Amanda you guys gave me the confidence and the courage to decide on going to a hair school next year. This may not be a big deal but honestly I wouldn’t have been so confident and feel so amazing if it weren’t for you two. I learned so much about my hair and learning more day by day makes me just fall in love with hair even more knowing that my curls can turn out to be healthy like yours and I truly appreciate it for all the videos and the effort you put in these videos! You’re my hero and forever will love your videos❤️ I hope that soon one day when I do peoples hairs and give them tips on how to help out their hair that they see results and learn more about their own individual hair just like the amazing Mel!!! Thanks again and I wish you and your sister gains more subscribers because you are honestly so underrated you deserve the best and more ❤️🥺
This made me tear up & is EXACTLY how I feel now that Mell helped me embrace my curls. It means the world that we are able to make you and so many others feel the same! Thank u so much for the love and support 🙂🥰🙂
Also, I would like to see a video on acceptable protective styles for the work place. Winter is coming and I want to keep my hair tucked away and need ideas besides the typical braid and bun.
Thanks Mell! I just had this conversation with my hair stylist a few weeks ago. I told her how I loved her hair and how tamed her frizz was compared to mine, and she told me that she was JUST complaining about her own frizz to her co-worker. We are our own harshest critics for sure 😊
Girl I haven't watched in a while and YOUR HAIR GOT LONG 😍❤
WELCOME BACK, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? Yes indeed she has been growing, i'm in need for a cut soon! Thanks for watching 😍
@@ManesByMell oh bb just school 🤣😫 glad to be back youre my fav!! (Got chopped from hair down to my butt all the way up above my shoulder and I am livinnnggg)
This is exactly what I needed. I was looking for Mane by Mell videos where she talks about how to reduce frizz, and then BAM, she posts one
Exactly the same
Just started my curly journey and Tuesday’s are my favorite day 😍😍😍
Welcome to the party 😍😍
@@ManesByMell thank you for this video, I too just started on my journey. Unfortunately, just had my hair cut and the stylist although she advised as curly hair specialist did not give me the right cut. My hair is super short now and just looks like a big puff. My hair is normally very very thick and can get puffy. How do you recommend I thin out my hair, I have been reading that thinning shears shouldn't be used.
You're such a genuine girl with such a bubbly personality that I guarantee that I could be cured of my depression just by living with you a whole week. Thank you for making me smile today, I needed it so much.
I really like using the hair care finder that was recommended. Unfortunately, I'm way too poor for the recommendations...
Girl same here haha 😂
Ha ha same
Check eBay 😉
I was thinking I would look for similar products at drug stores or place like Target and Walmart. There are more affordable brands that can do wonders for your hair just like the pricier ones
Start small. One product at a time will help.
Honestly I love your hair when it’s frizzy! Like it’s a look... The volume and all that stuff... Kinda giving me Diana Ross vibes
I’ve been going natural for about 9months now - and the bit about taking a step back and looking at the whole really helped me out after a few bad wash days. Thank you
LOVING Mel & her channel! My Curl-World is REVIVED! Telling every curly headed chic I see about this channel. Thank you Mel for sharing your wisdom, silliness & CURL TipZ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Adding Olaplex to my next sephora order! Thank you for all of your time and effort you put into teaching us how to care for our curls. Since I've adapted my haircare routine to specifically high porosity needs, it has really taken on such a life of it's own and I absolutely LOVE it now. I spent decades not knowing why things I was trying weren't working for me like they were for other people. Turns out, I was mostly using products best suited for low porosity instead and every thing I gained from one would basically just cancel out another. Now that you've educated "why" to use "what" and "when", it's been a total game changer!
Am I the only one who LOVES Mell's hair with frizz? I wished my hair had that volumeee
Girl, I've been watching your videos for the first time today, and back to back. You're very knowledgeable and comical. I'm learning a lot from you.
I'm about 4 months into transitioning my hair. Even though it's not looking it best right now, it already looks so much healthier. I know it's been a great choice 😍 Your videos have been so helpful!
Is that your natural hair in your photo? Because girl it looks GORGEOUS AS HELL 😍😍😍
@@vanakkamgi8330 AHH THANK YOU! Yesss it's my natural hair 🥰
I’ve been thinking of permanently straightening my hair. Pros and cons?
@@cassandrad9713 I definitely used to think about that heaps when I was younger! But now I absolutely love my curls and wouldn't change it 💕 natural hair is always gorgeous 😍
you’re so beautiful
Started focusing more on my curly hair journey about 2 months ago! Your videos are such a great help! ❤
Perfect timing as always. My hair has gotten frizzy on day 2 of these last 2 wash days. It looks good after I diffuse. In the morning I steam, but the curls start to pull apart and frizz out. Thank you ladies for reminding us that no matter what, our hairs are beautiful. 😁❤
Honestly, this video was SO helpful. I stress over the wet frizz and try to correct and it just ends up looking horrible or overworked when dry. AND now I know what to look for and prevent properly - THANK YOU 🙌
I get so frustrated with my frizz but I'm trying to not be so hard on myself. I tried to take the quiz but it just kept coming up with error messages so that was disappointing. Mell you have made such a big difference to mine and my twin seesters curly hair! You have helped us repair so much damage and get back to our healthy hair! Thank you!
Yes!! I need to learn to embrace my frizz. I'm always fighting with my hair cuz of frizz, but it's natural. I love this video. Thanks Mell!!
I really appreciate this video! I’ve been concerned that I’ve had some frizz even fresh out of the shower so it’s nice to know that some wet frizz is normal☺️
Omg! I totally love you! I feel like you are like my "curl mom". I needed this video and didn't even know it. I've always loved my curls, but taking care of them for real for real is not something I ever truly understood. I'm one of those that would be hard on myself. You educating us and showing us that "its all good" litterally had me tearing. This was like a virtual hug that its okay to "love it all... keep taking care of it and it will be alright." I appreciate you and what you bring to this social media table. Your bloopers having me dying and another reason why I watch bc you aren't afraid of showing the "sillyness" that happens behind the scenes. Its like the only reason why I like your blog or others because you its super relatable. Keep it up girl! You rock! 🚨🚨
Your timing is impeccable.
You are gorgeous! In my humble opinion, I feel like you would also be stunning with dark hair!💗
Hello
I love how when you smooth your hair out it pops back up 😍
Amazing hair and love ur channel
💛
Ah yes, that bounce back is a sign of very healthy hair! It's taken years and has progressed throughout this channel but i practice what i preach and it WORKS! Thank you for watching
Timely! I was just searching videos on "curly frizzy hair" and Mell comes through!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been struggling with frizz recently and wondering about how to fix it because I have watched a ton of videos that mention frizz in the past year. So this was perfect timing for this video.
I also appreciate seeing your hair product free as it helped clarify frizz. I get some ideas of people telling but I understand better with examples so thank you.
That sad moment when you're Moroccan, but you can't afford that Moroccan oil 😭
Considering having it sent over from the bled!
Just buy argan oil it’s a lot cheaper
I love Moroccan oil!!! I can't stand John Frieda Frizz-ease serum or Aussie Miracle curls serum. It's expensive af though.
well then DO NOT look up the price of the kerastase serum!
@@spannycat2 I like John Frieda on my hair
I needed this so much Mell! Next wash day I’m going to look at my hair product free so I can diagnose the problem. I already know the top is the bad frizz and probably needs strengthening treatments.
Another great video with very helpful information! I think all of us with curly hair can appreciate the reminder to not be so hard on ourselves about frizz. Thanks for spreading the love!
So many videos out there for curly hair, your videos are my favorite. Not only have I learned to love and bring out out my curls (which I relaxed for years) but I love the personality. So sweet and funny. Keep up the videos. 😊❤️
can you do an updated winter/fall routine with your fav product recommendations? Love you Mell👩🏽🦱👩🏼🦱👩🏻🦱👩🏾🦱♥️♥️♥️
Your hair is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. I don’t get how you have such patience when it’s in your face and on your neck and weighing down your head loooool. I get impatient within two seconds ahahah
I'm six months into my natural hair journey and I've been watching your videos since day one!! My hair has literally transformed and I know it will only get better!! Thank you for this video especially!! I struggle with frizz on the top of my head and it drives me crazy 🤣😜
I wish more hair stylist were like you. Your always awesome
Have I been sitting in bed for 45 minutes waiting for this video to upload? Yes,yes I have 🤣
same
I have been trying for years to combate my unruly, frizzy, curly hair and I'm so happy to have found your video. I'm still in the beginning of my curly hair journey and I hope to finally make more headway to my hair goals. Thank you for the tips!
So glad you mentioned the relationship of frizz to a dry climate. Desert air sucks out every scrap of moisture we have, so yay for finishing oil!
This is one of the most informed videos I’ve seen in how to treat my hair x thank you so much x
The bloopers 😂😂 I’m dying!! That’s like after a certain time you start getting tired but like a burst of energy because your so tired 😂😂
Love the whole video but the bloopers are what really made it lol
OMG!! I was so discouraged after my wash this weekend. Wet frizz and frizz in general is my struggle. This video could not have come to me at a better time. I love all your insight! Thank you Mel!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! It's a very frustrating thing at times, having curly hair. Thank you so much!!
You explain these products and ingredients so well. You are pretty, your hair is beautiful and you’re fun to watch. I love that you try multiple products and do 2-4 day wear tests too. TYVM
I'm so glad I found your videos! I grew my hair out this year, but I was clueless as to managing my new-to-me naturally curly long hair. Your detailed explanations are very helpful. Thank you so much!
The is so perfectly timed it's actually spooky
I mean, I almost cried of relief. My wet frizz is ridiculous, and I’ve only found one video that addressed wet frizz specifically. My finished hair is good though. Working on getting it back to great, thanks to you! Why can’t I rake product into my hair and manipulate the hairs like so many others? My curls break up, get stringy and even more frizzy. If I rake, I ended up having the wooooorst hair day. Thanks for all the education!
Jenable1 same here. Ugh.
Great tips! I like how you show how to apply. Frizz is so frustrating! Thanks for reminding us curlies to not be so critical of ourselves
New Sub here! I have decided to embrace my natural curly hair. Watching your videos has given me the "push" and "knowledge" to give it a go! Thank you Mell. You are amazing. ✂️➿☺️
My mane girl mell ❤❤ I happy to tell you that I finally found my perfect routine works for me
Thanks to educate me about my hair ❤❤😩
this makes me so happy to hear i am incredibly proud 😩
Yessss girl !!! We need this 💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕
My shero!!! Finally, really useful tips and encouragement for my high porosity 3C hair. Mell is marvelous, keep these videos coming!
I just found your channel and I am obsessed with you! You are hilarious, helpful, and ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I’ve been on my curly hair journey for 5 years now, and I have fine 3b/3c curls and am now realizing all the mistakes I made by weighing down my hair with so much product! I always hated how I couldn’t get the volume I want. I’ve learned so much from watching a couple of your videos so I want to thank you and wish you lots of health and happiness ☺️ Also your Valentine’s Day hairstyles video is my favorite and I am so glad I found it because I had no idea how to make buns and ponytails work for me. Keep on doing God’s work baybayyy.
Mell, you always know what we need. I am so hard on myself. I have watched all your videos (yes all of them) and the other day my hubby and I had date night. I wore my hair down, (something I rarely do). I was unimpressed by it that day. When it looks like yours or Amanda's, then I will be impressed. OMG Mell, I got so many compliments. It was sort of awkward. Thanks Mell and Amanda for helping those of us who need to embrace our curls. XOXOXO
13:25 great mini tutorial Fixing a frizzy patch
Thank you so much!! You have changed my natural curl life!
omg it's almost as if you sensed my troubles. I've been going through a lot of stuff about frizz and now you post this. Thank you!
Such a helpful video!! I literally send any new curlies to your channel immediately ❤️❤️
You're amazing and so appreciated thank you so so so much
This is why I always try to save my wash day for Tuesday 😊
My favorite hair speciaIist! I watched the video twice. Always so entertaining, full of excellent content and very well made. We love you, Mell and Amanda. ✌🏼
Your videos have really inspired me to start my curly hair journey. It’s only been about a month or two & my curls look so much happier now ((still a long way to go tho but I’m happy)) 🥺💗
Thank you for this! I struggle with frizz in the back of the head a lot.
Can you also do a video on gels? Which gel with hard hold is good for fine hair, etc. You ladies rock!!!! 😁✌🏼
I have fine hair and I prefer mousse! The tgin honey mousse is great for moisture ok-ish for hold and the John Frieda mousse is great for hold but isn’t CGM friendly. Hope this helps 😊
Neha Mala Sen, Thanks! I have the John Frieda mousse and I really like it but I would like to try something with a little more hold.
Bonnie Emile maybe try the mousse gel mousse technique?
Neha Mala Sen, Gel and Mousse is a good combo! Thanks for your input!
By the way, I saw the TGIN Mousse is on sale at Ulta, if you want to restock. 👍🏼
Loving these tips and can’t wait to try and tame my frizz 🥰
Also, Mell that lipstick shade looks magical, please share what you used if you see this 🥺
You were born for what you do! Thank you!
You are hilarious and gorgeous. Thank you for your detailed guidance. After highlighting my hair, the highlighted portions barely even look wavy anymore, whereas the regrowth underneath looks luscious and curly. I was going to give up on highlights, but now I have hope. Thank you!
Omg you sang “YOU NAMEEE IT!” ❤️
I would also love to see the finger cooling method done on 2a/2b hair.... wondering if it will work!?!?
Mel I love you!! You’re the reason I got the scalp massager and switched my hair products ♥️♥️
Amazing I used it last Saturday and speechless!!
Oh I forgot it's texture Tuesday but It's a pleasant surprise ❤️😂
PLEASANT SURPRISE INDEED! Thanks for being here!!
THANK YOU MELL FOR THIS WEEKS VIDEO! 🧡 I needed to fix my HAGRID situation...I was literally about to go to the salon to chop my blonde off 😅
I feel you. I'm call my hair Hagrid hair too 🤦♀️😩
I LOOOOOVE your video and energy. It’s genuine. Brought a smile to my face. Thanks!
I would love to see an updated winter routine for your wavy cousins as well as for yourself and Amanda!
I have to deal with frizz EVERY SINGLE DAY. Thaaank yoou💛
Nice hair
Loving this video so much! It has made me realize I definitely need a hair cut, but I love my long hair. My hair is very fine and I get fairy knots very easily after day one. Any suggestions to help with those? Also, I love working out, but I do get sweaty and this impacts my frizz levels. Any suggestions to help with that would be great! Thanks so much!
Brush it.
I have been struggling with my hairline since it is so frizzy and fine i never realized it is normal. thank you for pointing it out 💞
The BEST tips/info on curly hair I’ve ever seen! 🙌🏽
Just awesome I have hope now.. Thank you! 💖
Hey Mel thanks so much for this I just went curly about two weeks ago and am really struggling to get my hair it's between 2c and 3a and I've got some products but I still get some frizzy but it's so flat and straight at some parts and some curls are 3b underneath and then some are 2c it's so odd you are providing me with hope just subbed today thanks for being awesome
I am pretty sure the Sephora quiz is going to tell me that only Manes by Mell can help you! 😉 Just love Texture Tuesdays! ❤️
Girl, you are insanely smart! This video will literally become my daily reminder on how to do my hair! Wow love your channel so much!!!! 😘
Thanks so much Mell!! Always trying to keep the frizz down in my hot dry climate + hard water...yep. 💕
Literally just bought olaplex today and then I watch this video and its talking about olaplex, was tempted to buy the 0 but I was already getting the shampoo and conditioner and the number 3 and then a leave in conditioner..I'll buy it next time though!
I love the Kerastase elixir! It smells so great. I've always struggled with leave-in conditioners because they always felt too heavy for my waves. I've tried reducing the quantity, but it's as if it overloads my hair (especially if I apply curl cream and gel) Any tips? Or any brand that is light?
You are my hair savior! Thank you for all your advice and being here for us curly girls♥️
I'm honoured, I'm truly here because i love being able to help
Hi Mel i just stumble on your videos and i cannot stop watching
Just what I needed now! 🥰
first day on my curly hair journey and this pops up!
YES! Congrats on getting started! This is a great place to get you on track
You have no idea how obsessed I am with your videos. I just had a bayalage and the girl messed up my curls 😭😭😭 it is so damaged now that I didn't know what to do but watching your videos is giving me hope. Thanks!! ❤
I recently started embracing my curls and Mel you have helped me a lot! Thank you!
Mel you make finger coiling look so easy!! I’ve followed your tips and tricks from videos, and my hair just doesn’t respond like that. It doesn’t bounce or spring back up when I’ve finger coiled it, it stays long, drawn out and twisted. Help please. 😭🤞🏻
That happens to me too!!! I find if I twist too much it will just be a random twist lol. The way mine works best is if it’s wet when I finger coil and then still scrunch scrunch scrunch until it coils! If the scrunch doesn’t work I will literally wrap it around my finger like you would a wand and hold until it stays then release and not touch until it dries. I mainly only take the time do that on my front pieces though lol
Same here. I have 2b/3a long thick hair. Med density. Med porosity. No color dyes.
Hey mel you’re so amazing!!! Question: is frizz that looks like a much tighter curl pattern normal?
Great question!!
I get a lot around my face!
That was the clue that led to me admitting I had wavy hair. Many of my hair's are my mostly straight. Some are actual curls that, well, curl and are springy and everything. So if I just air dry, brush, and attempt to wear my heart "straight" in the PNW I just get weird springy bits all over and frizz galore. The routine I just mentioned worked just fine when I lived in a desert though.
would also like to know! even when wet, i get within/between curl frizz thats these thicker, tight corkscrew/zig zag curls when the rest of my head is just wavy. would like to know if thats indicative of solvable damage or inevitable hormonal changes 😩
Everytime I see you have uploaded a new video I get so happy 🥺
Great job ladies! I love Texture Tuesday!!
