@@paulmurphy5244 All in the Family? Are you serious? Are you so dense that you didn't realize that All in the Family was literally created and written by a known liberal/progressive, Norman Leer? Did you not realize that Archie Bunker was created as a character to BE the butt of the joke? Like, the point of the show is to mock Archie's outdated right-wing bigoted way of thinking, but still show him as a human being. It was an attempt to bridge the cultural divide between the progressive youth of the day and the bigoted older generation of that time, but the show's agenda was a blatantly progressive one. So no, liberals would not be having mental breakdowns from that show if they saw it today, because it was made by a liberal, acted by liberals, and watched by liberals and conservatives alike, and still resonates with them. Though today fortunately there are less Archie's in the world, thank God (and perhaps in a small way we can thank All in the Family for that, particularly known liberal Carroll O'Connor's portrayal of Archie Bunker).
If you watched Archie Bunker and thought he was supposed to be "correct" and that the butt of the joke were the liberals, then I'm sorry to say you missed the point... like completely.

No, this is not "you couldn't get away with it today" humour. This is good humour. Because it's about how they see Americans, and both Japanese and American stereotypes. But a bunch of idiots who don't know the difference are lamenting the loss of this type of humour - when it exists today.
