I was there this night, I had never listened to Grateful Dead but when he played that song I had to find out what it was. So glad I was there that night not only for the amazing show but also to discover a whole new world of incredible music
What an amazing night, seeing him reach those notes again finally! SO HAPPY! Wonderful you captured that on video. Thanks for sharing a great 20 minutes of concert!!
20 minutes and 46 seconds of the most exquisite music JM has ever played. KK, you did the best job recording this...I'm so grateful to you. And I'm proud of myself for having the sefl-control to NOT grab your arm while you were recording. #mayerisback
Karen, I'm watching almost 5 years since this magnificent night and feeling so emotional. His Althea was so beautiful even with his compromised vocal range. vocals & guitar not so very different from today when he performs Althea with Dead & Company. Love this man so much. So grateful to you for this.
Tony Dess drums: Aaron sterling, bass: Sean Hurley, guitar: Zane Carney, lap steel: Doug pettibone, vocals: Carlos ricketts and Tiffany Palmer, keys: Andy burton
Learned something new today. I didn't know he did a Dead tune this early ( I knew he was 'exploring' their music during his down time). I thought is was closer to/in 2015. Not a great version, but he's been KILLING IT with Dead & Co.
I love John, but I've giving him a bad ride for a while just cos his voice should be fully recovered before going out on tour in my opinion. BUUUT, I am very proud of him, and this video makes me happy. Mayer is Back!!
You do know that they had practiced the songs before, had sound check before the concert. It was not the first time that he figured out he could hit them.
I saw a recent show. JM was great. His vocals and playing were brilliant. That said, he's got to get rid of the other jokers. His old band was spectacular. As you can see by the video above, the transgender character on lead guitar is adequate at best, the drummer needs to get rid of that ridiculous King Kong drum (which he never hit once during a 2 hr set) and the bass player is no Pino Palladino or Dave LaBruyere. Then again, maybe THEY didn't want to be associated with the new material.
If you are true John Mayer fan you cried a little when he did the QOC song in its correct pitch
Facts
Man, the Born and Raised/Paradise Valley band was so good
I can't believe the lack of crowd reaction to the start of Althea.
Andrew Palmgren That's cause the majority of them don't know that piece of art, unfortunately.

I knew there was a reason John Mayer has been my favourite guitarist since Jerry Garcia!!
This comment has aged really well :)
That fade into Althea is badass.
The look of joy on his face at 3:25 is so awesome.
I'll never be tired to see John Mayer perform ... true story ...
i'm smiling from ear to ear while watching this!!!
he is truly back
OMG his face when he hit that pitch!!!! PRICELESS
John you're fucking awesome

Holy shit! Mayer is BACK baby!
Damm this is great! his voice will be 100% very soon... Im looking foward to his concert here in Brazil! Keep Going John!!
I wish he would soon come out with another live album! ASAP
One of my favorite "Althea"s and this was way before he was with the Dead. Very cool.
SO PRECIOUS! Thanks so much for this! You can see the happiness oozing out of him when he can hit those notes! Love that man!
Queen of California was mind-blowing. Good God.

Red Rocks is the begining of a new era.
As it was back in 2006, when he played stoned as fuck, like a god.
So happy for the guy.
3:07 is Magic. YES JOHN GO ON MAN!

The note-hitting QOC and the fucking *incredible* Althea that follows. This is an all-timer for Mayer
