Biggest mistake in a fighter's career is to publicly announce their intention to retire with future fights left. Now the promotion is going to be reluctant to market him knowing he's got one foot out.
and they'll try and get him beaten
Makes you less invested in them because you know if they became your favourite fighter they would suddenly become not a fighter at all
Or they can use for leverage by saying well im gonna retire in a few fights unless you give me more money. It's a catch 22.

@@mattshepherd1736 you're not wrong there. I'm just saying it's an option. Glover is too old to pull a move like that off and he's not as big a draw and either of those two. But we know that. Maybe he feels that cause he has the belt he can get away with it.
Say what you want about Glover, that Champion stands the test of time. A true warrior, a kind spirit, and a great addition to our sport. Thank you Glover for all the years of entertainment.

Old man strength Glover Texeria is a great mythical fighter. The UFC embedded series during the buildup against Jan made me appreciate him a lot more.
Glover didn't get the title fight gifted to him. He beat absolute killers and earned it!

Glover has the best resume after Jon Jones at LHW. Better than DC and Jan in terms of number of good fighters beaten. He is on 6 fight win streak with 5 finishes. If he takes Jiri down, it's over with submission or ground and pound TKO.
