I’ve been told that I’m on the wrong bike plenty of times but always disagree. Being on any bike is much better than not being on a bike! Fun is fun.

Thanks! I used to be afraid of anything carbon but it has taken a lot of abuse on a few different bikes so I have come around over time. This one feels solid so far. 👍

I do feel it answered the title that yes it can be competitive in a variety of different competitions to some extent. Nicely done in all events. Just for conversational claims "heheh", maybe you could say you'd have placed 10 higher had you not stopped for air. My learning how to hop rocks and wheelie like that will be my next goal (me starting fresh unable to even manual or wheelie, that is)

Hello! Do you think the bike will feel weird with 130mm fork as opposed to 120?
Planning to get a DV9. I have the possibility to get it with a fox 34 130mm, so the BB would be higher, and the stack a tad higher (I like higher stacks, I have long legs). I appreciate you helping me out. Thanks!
I think it would be really good with that setup as long as you don’t mind it being a little bit more slack. It feels like it has room to go with that option and still ride “right”. I’m tempted to try it myself some day.

What did you say at the 2:30 mark about something else being more comfortable? Couldn't make it out.
Sorry I talk too quick in these sometimes! I said my other rides on this bike that weren’t races were more comfortable. That was due to lower tire pressure.
@@PatSmage that makes sense. I almost thought you were saying something about the Rekon Race tires. I'm running Rekon 2.4 R and 2.6 F on my DV9 and am always interested in trying something new.
I have the right bike for cross, I just haven't had the motivation to get fit enough to start racing again.
Spitting on a fellow rider is definitely a party foul. But that a no podium plus the heckling -you MIGHT want to get a psychlo cross bike.
He has it on Gopro, so I would have sued him. This is an unacceptable thing to do. I never spit knowing there are a lot of people around that can be hit.
Well I guess that could be considered three strikes… but I raced a gravel bike at one last year and got heckled for having a visor on my helmet so I’m sure they will always find something, haha. I would have kept riding/racing that bike but I think the drop bars caused some knee pain that I couldn’t completely figure out, so it is MTB or nothing for now.

BTW, you mentioned having knee pain - I had also knee pain and got rid of that pain by losing 20 kilogram, down from 92 to 72 kilos now. 👍🏻

On the trials, what effect would it be if the fork was 450mm axle to crown?
Well it would make at least one move a bit easier! But it would probably be pretty awkward everywhere else.
@@PatSmage I have a 27er xc bike replaced it with a non suspension corrected 420mm rigid short fork , I agree with the one move its going riding flats or up hill but front wheel lifts and hops feels heavy front I plan 490mm rigid fork. but I need your pro advice Tnx Pat
@@captjerski4165I'm a big fan of rigid forks, too. The suspension is taken care of by the tires: I ride a fatbike! 😊
BTW: Have you tried a longer stem? It should give you more leverage and therefore it should be easier to lift the front tire.

It would be good for that! But I am not sure if I'll do any since the trials season is really spread out.
could one assume that the trials is bigger than hard enduro since they dont move you over there ? we saw you ride rorr 2 yrs back and was awesome to see you race with those guys. either way have a good season@@PatSmage
@@k2marine no, hard enduro is actually bigger. But trials has been my focus for so long that I am trying to stick with it for as long as I can! Plus, Sherco already has Cody and Cooper for enduro, so I just jump in here and there when it works out. It is too hard for me to do both, and trying to be competitive in hard enduro is a very long shot at this point. Rorr was a good and tough one!
165mm crank length isn't the standard? I have never had a bike that came with another size- maybe that was just "luck"
I thought 175 mm is the standard length.
A lot of bikes come with 175s, including this one. I’d like to see more start coming with or having an option for shorter.

One of the roadies complained about the loud noise my tires were making.
I couldn't care less, because if they are not fast enough it's their problem as the true reason for them getting mad is their frustration about the fact that they are not fit enough to even be faster than someone on a fatbike despite them sitting on an expensive and supposedly fast roadbike.
It's an ego-thing to them, nothing else.

Yeah it was $50 which is a little too steep for me for a less than 30 minute race. I was more bummed on the short length to cost ratio than the podium skippage. Still weird though!

Why do you say that? I haven’t noticed any downsides to them. Enjoy the new ride!
Lower saddle height and a better pedal response (hammering), just a better connected feel livelier. Ride the 165s for a season and then change to 175 and see. ❤ nice channel!
