  • Opps Decore 56 Egg Incubator Setup Routine and getting it loaded for the first time. I want to show you exactly how to make sure you're unit is ready to go to work. It's a simple process. Please follow along and watch!
    I'll be using Chicken Eggs from my small flock of ISA Brown Hens and Rhode Island Red Rooster.
    This will be a series from start to finish.
    Today is my setup routine, and how I go about loading and testing a new incubator.
    Testing IS VERY IMPORTANT!
    You must verify that you're getting the correct temperature range at all times.

    This is a very good incubator ,,i have tested it 7+baches ,,, you have to calibrate it ,, you have to switch the fan to blow away from the eggs .,,, you have to set the max temp setting 38.5DegC,,,, best hatching temp i found in 37.5Deg C

    Any help to adjust settings?

    • @HomesteadingBartramStyle
      @HomesteadingBartramStyle  Před 3 lety +4

      Yes I sure can help. The settings take a couple steps to change. Depending upon what's causing your alarm to go off. Typically it's due to the humidity most of the time from my experience. Addition of HOT water to the water channels inside will fix the problem. However, if you need to change the settings the way to do it is as follows: Press and hold the *SET* button for about 3 seconds till ( *AL* ) shows where the TEMP is located. Then press the *+* button multiple times till ( *AS* ) shows - That's the Humidity Alarm setting. Then press the *SET* button once to show the setting. Use the * +* or * -* key to adjust and then press the *SET* button once to confirm your setting. (I find setting mine down to about the *38* % works well for me till the eggs have had enough time to soak up the moisture they need in the beginning. After that when it finally normalizes, I set it back up to the *45* % mark and try to hold mine at about *50* % till day 18 and then push up to *70* % if possible. The other settings are changed in the similar manner. If you just press and release the *SET* button one time it allows you to change the TEMP of the unit. Here are the listings for the other settings that you can change...
      *AS* = Humidity Alarm
      *CA* = Calibrating Temp Sensor - Use this if you find that the temp reading is WAY off using a human digital thermometer.
      *HS* = Temperature High Set - Automatically set when you change the TEMP
      *LS* = Temperature LOW Set - Automatically set when you change the TEMP
      *AL* = LOW Temperature Alarm - Factory set to 1 deg Celcius below your SET TEMP
      *AH* = High Temperature Alarm - Factory set to 1 deg Celcius above your SET TEMP
      These are all the settings that are available. If you happen to have low temp going off, Use the bottom Styrofoam packing and set the unit back into it to help. It's how I run both of mine to help the unit keep the cost of running down. It's a quiet unit so keep this inside of a TEMP Controlled building. Running it outside or in a barn type place isn't advised.
      Let me know if you need any further help and I'll post a video soon to show the settings as well just for future reference. :)

      The best way that I’ve found is to use a small bright light and shine down from the top. Usually I can see the water line in the unit on each channel. It’s best if the egg turners are tilted away from the side you’re using to view it.

    • @HomesteadingBartramStyle
      @HomesteadingBartramStyle  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Beeping with fan symbol flashing means that the fan is alarming normally. Check to make sure fan is actually spinning. If it is then most likely cause is the fan has a speed sensor and it’s probably gone out or the circuit that reads the fan speed is bad. May need to replace fan.

      @@HomesteadingBartramStyle My unit did not come with a user manual. I did manage to find the "identical" replacement unit, however it cost 50% of what I paid for the entire unit to begin with. I just hot glued a battery powered temp/humidity unit to the center of the lid. If I get ambitious I may build a Raspberry Pi with WiFi for remote monitoring.. but that's a lot like work lol.

    • @HomesteadingBartramStyle
      @HomesteadingBartramStyle  Před 6 měsíci

      I put scalding hot tap water in to begin with. I normally put two of the little bottles full of water in when I start up my incubators. Usually that will go into the outside ring. Then at lockdown I’ll make sure again that the water level is sufficient in the outside ring and put two more bottles of hot water into the inner ring.

    Results?

    • @HomesteadingBartramStyle
      @HomesteadingBartramStyle  Před 3 lety +2

      This far I can say that I've had nothing but awesome luck with this incubator. The temp settings and humidity control is great, it's auto rotation system works just fine. We've had 4 cycles go through the two incubators we now own and from each one with good fertile eggs we've had great results. We've just hatched out 4 French Black Copper Marrans as of yesterday. We have another 30 in the second incubator that are looking really nice right now too. Temp probe on the front needs to be pushed straight down toward the bottom, but other than that these units are great. The best way to test the temp is with a digital human thermometer and put through water hole on side to get a good reading without opening the unit up. Just make sure to point the tip inside up toward the eggs area. If you purchase one, make sure to have a spare PC power cord as my second one had a fault with power cord from the start. I swapped it out and have had no issues since then. All in All we LOVE this incubator and as said, I bought a second one for our homestead use, and will probably buy a couple more in the future as well. I hope this helps. :) Thank you for he comment and I hope that you become a subscriber to the channel as well!

    •  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the reply, and I want to buy one for myself. I wish you good luck with incubating the chickens. Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    • @HomesteadingBartramStyle
      @HomesteadingBartramStyle  Před 3 lety +2

      You're welcome! I honestly can say that these are great small incubators. They will allow you to hatch many different types of eggs, the egg trays allow for very small eggs as well as larger. I'd say turkey would be the biggest that I would hatch. Goose eggs are a bit too big for the trays, but you can always hand turn them without the auto rotator. If you've any questions after getting one, feel free to contact us here with questions. We love to help people solve problems. :) Have a great day!
